    Your detail about the "brake stop pad" causing the brake lights to stay on was perfect...THAT is what was causing our issue...i was hard to tell what was wrong when the entire piece was missing (Dorman Part #74015 ...about $8-$12 ..we got it at O'reilly Auto Parts for just over 9 bucks). Everything is good now! Thanks Lehew Tech.

    Just came home at 10pm to find my Civic in the driveway with the brake lights on... This video saved my sanity. They've probably been on for hours, and are extremely hot to the touch, (it's still 97F here, at 10pm). Found the remains of the little rubber stopper. Had a thick piece of leather I could wedge in the for the night until I can get the part and fix it tomorrow. You sir, are awesome!

    The troubleshooting bit at the beginning was fantastic. I have a 2004 CR-V and it's basically the same under the dash. Was able to find a bolt that fit where the plastic stopper had broken and could fix the issue at work instead of having to drive all the way home without functioning brake lights. Great information and great video.

    This video just helped me immensely. My best friend's 05 Civic had the brake lights stuck on and drained the battery to zero. I thought maybe it was a solenoid stuck in the "on" position. Turned out to be that brake stop pad, it broke apart and fell on the floor as soon as I took that bottom panel off. Quick and easy fix!

In my case I think its affecting my cruise, not my brake light. I cant find any other reason why cruise won't work so im replacing the switch. Thanks for the detailed video.

    Apparently that adjustment feature can also work for fixing a non-working cruise control problem. Gonna try it for mine, I'll edit the comment with the results. One more edit, unhooking that switch can also work for checking your brake lights and making sure the bulbs are good. Genius move installing this type of system Honda!

    All.my lights at rear end are working. When I press the brake, the right brake lights glows indicating that it's working fine but left one does not. It's dfntly not a light bulb issue coz all lights at rear are working when you turn on the lights. What could be the problem?

    This video helped me a lot! Brake lights on my Honda Civic 2004 would not turn off. I followed the video to get to fuse #7 (or at least on the same spot #7 was supposed to be, since apparently someone placed fuse #15 in its place). As soon as I removed the fuse, the break lights turned off... yey!!! Car is not being used much in lockdown, so at least I can prevent the bulbs from burning off as well as saving the car battery. If I can do it, anybody can, LOL... Thanks!

    Great tutorial very easy to understand !
    Btw I have a clicking sound when I depress the brake pedal on my 2005 civic automatic, it's coming from the brake linkage and not outside the car, I can feel the click when I depress the brakes, do you think that the switch could be at fault, from your tutorial it doesn't seem likely that a click could come from just activating the pedal and thus pushing up that white plastic brake switch, would you agree or is it possible that it could make the click sound?

    Signals.
    That’s it they won’t stay on while driving at night. Already checked the wires, fuses, relays.

    Tremendously great video! I did have to replace the grommet. My grommet was actually plastic and I saw what looked like Chiclets on the floor. I replaced that and that solved the brake light problem. Can you tell me why when that solenoid or that switch is activated there is a clicking noise in the center console that is quite loud? I am having trouble with my cruise control and one video said that it's related to this particular switch. The light on the cruise control button is on but the light on the dashboard never comes on and cruise control does not work. What in the world could be wrong?

    • @paulschultz4969
      @paulschultz4969 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I fixed it! Using your video I was able to figure out how to remove the brake switch. The switch serves multiple purposes. If the grommet is missing your brake lights will be on. Also, if the grommet is missing or broken, you will not be able to shift from Park to drive. And, lastly, if the button is not pushed in all the way, you will not have cruise control. If your cruise control light that you depress to start cruise control on the dashboard usually to the left side of the steering wheel near the door, as is on the 2001 to 2005 Honda civic, if that light is on, and when you are driving at 40 miles an hour or more and you then push the set button but you do not see the cruise control light on the dashboard display, and cruise control does not work, the problem could very well be that your brake pedal switch is not depressed fully. Do what this video shows to pull out the switch and push it in all the way then lock it in place and you should be fine. Once again a tremendous video!

    Older video so a response isn't likely but I'm at a loss. I got an 03 Civic EX sedan and none of the three brake lights are working. The running lights work fine, but when I press the pedal nothing happens. I replaced the brake switch immediately since I assumed that would be it, but nothing changed. I don't have the horn either, which shares the same fuse as the stop lights, but the fuse is fine. I have no idea what to do with it at this point.
