I knew about this issue when I bought it, read the reviews stating as much, and still bought two. Am I crazy? Technically and clinically, yes, just not criminally. ANYWAYS... It's true, thing gets terribly warm UNTIL IT DOESN'T. I looked up the dimensions of the little guy and found a set of heat sinks for it. THEY FIT PERFECTLY. Didn't know which side was the culprit, so slapped two on there since why not. Never had a hot drive issue after that. MIND YOU, it literally tripled its thickness, so... THERE IS THAT. 50x25x10mm was what I went with. Luckily for me I have a bout 10 hard shell cases, and found that the GOPRO HERO 7 BLACK case perfectly housed both of them side by side without issue. Just bought the Nano V2, since I thought they learned their lesson and included vent holes, just got them, and what I thought was stylish angled and stagnated vents on the side is a silicone protective sleeve, since that's what you want, to choke the drives even more with an insulator. WHATEVER, just like before, bought the ol' heat sinks again for these guys. V2 is a little longer, but 4TB. All by being like 10% bigger. NICE.

i have a small piece of velcro on the laptop and drive so i don't have to mess with it when it is hot or moving it around. Seems to work okay -- i am mostly reading not writing data as I store my external sound files in Logic and other plugins on it
Men I am searching a new external ssd ,thanks to the advice...I have 3 Samsung t5 1tb and a samsung t7 1tb all of them run cool for me does not heat at all and I live in Puerto Rico ,the temperature is about 25 degrees all day long.
and I was looking new alternative to test it out.
just got mine, ordered on Black Friday, works PERFECT on my MacBook Pro 15 !

Good afternoon I have a 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nano Rugged SSD and since last night I can't get into it. When I connect it to the PC, I get UNABLE TO ACCESS E:\. Then I try CHKDSK E: /f and it tells me THE VOLUME CANNOT BE OPENED FOR DIRECT ACCESS!!! I connect it to my Android phone and it doesn't recognize it either!!
What did you end up using that was "a little bit more cooler"?

the disk not loading on your mac did you confirm the file system? did you confirm it wasn’t loading?
Have you ever tested the version 2 to see if it was any better?
I moved some files to it last night and it worked just fine. I plugged it in today and it's responding similar to your video-no light or anything. Did you ever find a fix for Macbooks? At least so I can retrieve my stuff /:
Try rebooting. Sometimes when I found plugging it in on the other side works. I think its mac os and not the drive as i have had similar issues with other ssd.
I had the slow mount issue with Samsung t5 until I installed the Samsung software and updated the firmware - how does this compare to the t5?
T5 is slow af compared to these drives. Max you'll get is like 500MB per second from a T5
T7 is a lot better

I have used my 2TB Nano for a year now with Windows 10 & Windows 7...I have no trouble whatsoever.
I use the wrap-around cushion that comes with it.
So I do disagree with your video.
That is your right to disagree. Mine sits in a drawer now. It also did not come with a “cushion”. Lucky you.
@@BartmansBits I ordered it with the cushion because of easy to handle. I run my Virtual machines through it for speed & it has zero issues.
I think its a mac os issue. I have the similar issues with other ssds. I can wait the extra 5 seconds for it to load. Other than that mines been going strong for 2 years now. My friend on windows doesn't have these issues.
The speed issue... USB is always going to be a bottleneck. The same drive on a motherboard is as capable as the Samsung - it's the price we pay for mobility until USB 4 is with us, which will always be slower than a PCIe 4 BUS on a motherboard. Shows up on all our PC systems - blame MAC OS?

I wonder if the drive not showing is a MacOS bug as it shows in windows.
I have an old Samsung thumb drive and it appears on anything I plug it in except my MacBook. Windows laptop, TV or even the iPad via an adaptor.... all fine. Plug into MacBook and nothing. Even with multiple different formats it just never appears.
i have a bunch of seagate drives that if they are not ejected properly they won’t show up in my mac after.
The sollution EVERY time is to hoock them up to my windows pc and run a check disk.
It runs that, finds no errors but after that the drive magically appears on my mac and i mean every si gle time this worked.
I wish I would have listened! Will not show up and gets hot.
