    gyro responsibility to counter steering back to center. every gyro maker should keep this in mind as normal practice just like you flush toilet after use. shouldn't be an optional for that

    I remote control helicopters and from my understanding about gyros it sounds to me that that one has what you called a Gyro hold!

    I own a K989 that I modified pretty extensively and had it dialed in nicely as a CS drifter. Recently got the urge to convert it to a RWD drifter after watching a lot of your and Beaver's videos. Great content.
    So I have it covereted to RWD now and have extended the steering angle (similar to the DRZ) as required. I don't have a standalone gyro so I've been using the built in gyro on my FlySky GT5 receiver. I guess what's nice about that is it eliminates the need for dual endpoint since it's built in. But anyway, I can drift it somewhat and have been playing with the gyro settings to make it comfortable for me. Still struggling to make it look smooth though. Can't figure out if it's just me un-learning CS drifting or if my setup is bad. I've heard a few times that built in gyros are just not up to the task of RWD drifting. Any thoughts or experience with that? I'd like to know if I really need to shell out for a standalone or if what I have is actually fine and it's just my skills that need work. Thanks a lot, appreciate your videos.

      Hey Jeffrey, I believe 90% of your problem is coming from the built in gyro & only 10% from learning RWD. The gyro & servo combo is the #1 most important part of a RWD build. You need to make sure the servo has a rock solid install & the same goes for the gyro. I typically use two layers of thick foam double sided tape to secure my gyro, the goal is to remove any vibrations & keep the gyro flat/stable while driving. If the gyro has any play it will make learning to drift a nightmare...
      Also watch your wires, you need to secure all wires going into & out of your gyro. If the wires are able to move at all then it will have a negative impact on your drifting.
      Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.

      @@BMR3 Just wanted to follow up and say that you were correct about the gyro. I ended up picking up a Yeah Racing mini Hackslider (looks just like those high end Mini Z micro AFRC V3 gyros) and it's much better and more responsive than the built in one. My drifting is still not great but is much, much more manageable now. Thanks a lot

    Thanks. This is eyeopening for me. I thought DRZ v2 has a stopper on each knuckle so the steering won't lock up.

      its basically ineffective as i show in my videos, it prevents the wheel going through all the way but is way after the point where you need mechanical stoppage

      Pfft stoppers? Those screws do absolutely nothing since they can fully clear the lower arm they are supposed to hit. For the screws to work properly they would need to be a few mm longer...
      Luckily my new gyro solves the problem for me & I’ll have a new video up tomorrow showing off the cars abilities! I have you to thank for the new gyro, I wouldn’t have picked up the V3 if you wouldn’t have made that video. Lol I literally watched the video, followed your link & ordered. BangGood better be paying you well since you can move product!!

      Blitz Works my screws don’t touch anything, they go right over the top of the lower arm.

      @@BMR3 ah good point i havnt looked at the drifters for a week or two. i do remeber complaining about them though because at least one of them scraped on the inside of the front wheels

      @@BMR3 Oh... that's unfortunate. When I saw really long screws they must have been changed.

    Do you have the steering stoppers on the knuckles? They should prevent this. This is one key thing about steering geometry tuning. I try to achieve a steering setup where it can never lock like this even if it turns too much. Another thing i wanted to mention is that this gyro(v3) is only compatible with digital servos. Analog servos won’t work with it.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I have the steering “stoppers” installed but they aren’t long enough, they can completely clear the part they are supposed to hit. The screws would have to be a few mm longer to properly work since there is so much clearance (& my ride hight is pretty low).
      Regarding the gyro, the AFRC V3 is working perfectly in my set up with the red servo. I’ll have a video up tomorrow showing how well the car performs with the epa settings, it’s like a whole new car! I can’t believe the difference the gyro epa has made, the car has zero hesitation now.
      Thanks for the comment brother, they are always insightful! Now you have me concerned that my steering geometry since my knuckles can theoretically still get hung up while driving... now I need to source some more screws lol
      I’m just wondering, do the stopper screws work for you?

      BMR 3 yeah the steering stoppers work on mine! I’ll post pictures on the Facebook group later today after work! And yeah the v3 gyro is awesome, I picked one up a while back and run it on my super skeeter👌🏼

      Selfmadecouch 😹 this servo & gyro were meant for my Super Skeeter build but now the parts are being cannibalized until I can get a tap to fix the screw holes.
      Looking forward to the pics, have a good day man!

    Spent many many hours designing a setup that doesn't lock and still gets full steering angle, pain in the ass at this small scale.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angle limiters aka long screws from the knuckle that press against the lower control arm work well. Just gotta be careful the screws are smooth (threads can get hung up) & you can even bend them a bit to get max angle.
      That way you can rely on a mechanical steering lock & not just the EPA settings.

    • @hightorquerc
      @hightorquerc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BMR3 I did that too but but switched to smaller suspension arms and they don't even hit at full lock.
      Put some wiring shrink wrap over the threads, works a treat 👍

    Very instructive video... That could be a great issue if not noticed in a build (sorry once again for my poor English).

    Is the knuckle just not going past the turning point and locking? Mine was doing this because the little pin that stops it from going to far was broke off.

    • @BMR3
      @BMR3  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. My original DRZ V2 kit came with too short factory screws so the angle limiters did not work, but a dual EPA gyro will prevent this from locking.
