I think this must have been him trying out the new material early on. He has much better, more polished (and funnier!) versions of the First Lady bit. Check out some of the things from his special at Albert Hall in London a few years ago. Bill is ruthless!
I agree. Bill's later material has a lot more continuity than his early stuff where he doesn't abruptly transition from one subject to the next like he did in this one.

Yeah, also this was in Canada. Canadians are more..... ummm..... polite, and his bits there are more subdued than the ones where he performs in the US. I agree that the improved First Lady/Man bit is when he is doing standup in the US. Several parts have been added to that one, that are missing here.

There is a much better version of the First Lady skit - you need to see that... Something to the effect of, "Let me extend an olive branch. At some point there is going to be the first female President, and, therefore the first male first lady, and he needs to shut his trap... For instance, a little later into this skit, he talks about Michelle talking about saving some children or prisoners and pleading for US Citizen's help, and Bill says, "You are sitting across the dinner table from the leader of the free world, ask him to help, what am I supposed to do??" I really wish I could find that clip for you.

Good story that alines with the motel bit. A few years back my job moved me to Florida and they paid for my hotel/motel until I got an apartment. The first month they pay very well but then the second month they cut it in half as if to say hurry up and find your own place to live. The first month I stayed at a very nice place. A hotel with free happy hour everyday and a bar/restaurant in the beach. With work and enjoying the beach and pool I did not have time to find a place to live. The second month came and I had to find a much deeper place. I found a motel and it was like going from living in a beautiful 3500 square foot home to a studio apartment in Iowa. Every night before I went to sleep I would step outside the look around to make sure nobody was scoping me out: it was a beach community and the level of drunk idiots was very high so I could here all the noise at all hours I would be awake at 3am thinking this is the night it happens.
