Every decent small town in middle America has an annual festival of some sort.... Big city culture doesn't get it. Its a whole vibe. In Salem, West Virginia, it's called the annual Apple-Butter festival because at Apple Harvest 100+ years ago the local women started a competition who could make the best Apple Butter. Someone has to hand stir it over a fire and keep it from burning for hours!! In Enterprise Kansas they just have "The Fall Festival," a parade and a lot of fairground games. Sometimes where it isn't freezing they have a "Festival of lights" around Christmas, or even some other time. Many places incorporate some classic car show or a small carnival into the event. Its a small town thing for sure!!!
Not true I went for years to Brooklyn NY Atlantic Antics blocks and blocks of Atlantic Ave closed down to cars that had everything I've ever seen and more at a country fair. One of the best parties I've ever been to.

It’s a street fair, it’s different than a fair with rides and things. It’s a bunch of tent and tables of people selling food, art, jewelry and anything really sometimes it’s even booths set up from actual stores so they can rep there products.
street fairs....usually more a local event for a small town or neighborhood. street is shut down, music, food, etc. a social event for folks that share a community and it is a celebration of said community.
It probably meant more like farmers market type things on weekends. They sell cookies and cakes and muffins and more than that they sell homemade jewelry

What puts most people on the psycho scale is not if you think it, but the dividing line between only thinking about it and knowing you would actually do it if you thought you could get away with it. Because there are things I kind of want to do, but won't do it even if I think I could get away with it. Part of it is because I'm not willing to take the consequences if I don't get away with it, but others is because I know it will cause a lot fallout to people who probably don't deserve it.
don't know if anyone answered...But Just for Laughs is/was a comedy festival in Montreal they used to do...top top talent showed up for it and a lot of current comedians made their bones there...was big in the 90's

In the Seattle area, there are several "Farmers Markets" that have all sorts of crafts, flowers, veggies, souviners, woodcraft, kettle corn, cooked street foods - pretty good stuff!

In California they have a festival somewhere every summer. You can buy anything from hats to jewelry to art and even food. They close down the main streets for the weekend. We even had beer festivals and wine festivals!🔥😎🔥👵🏼❤️☮️😊

Arts and crafts fairs generally have these things. Some of the bigger ones have a few rides or an animal petting arena. I live in the south so this pretty normal in local area. We usually just go to the fruits and veg area and get nice produce.
Salley, South Carolina celebrated their 56th annual Chitlin Strut festival complete with food, parade and a Chitlin Strut Pageant. Old customs and festivals are the norm here in the South. See y'all next year....

I live near Lexington KY and usually around late July or early August we close off a park for an "art" fair. Food carts, art, homemade jewelry, etc etc. It's fun to just go watch.. but this year I'm going after the muffins 🤣

I live in Dallas...there's a festival every weekend in a Dallas suburb from like March thru October. He is exaggerating on the jewelry. They typically have a variety of local art, handcrafted wood and/or metal home decor, jewelry ranging from real gemstones to the kind u make in a kiln to beads u buy at Hobby Lobby, along with baked goods, sauces, jams, rubs, etc. Also u will usually find food trucks and draft beer. A good way to spend a Sat...unless u are dating Bill Burr lol.

Every couple weeks in the spring/summer, a city around me (CA) will have an Art & Wine festival. Loads of crap to buy.

My town has a festival every year in the spring, and they sell jewelry and all kinds of stuff.
I only went one year when I was in my late teens with my best friend. We got there late though. My friend had an artist do a cool cartoon portrait of him and his sister. I got a cool necklace, and a couple of custom branded leather wristbands.. There was also a wrestling ring there where they apparently has some wrestling matches, but we sadly got there too late.
It was pretty cool, in my town at least.
Bill is referring to a street fair. Every city seems to have one every year. People come and set up little stands and sell stuff....all kinds of stuff...mostly junk, well, at least to me it's junk, but some people like that junk, so they buy it. The street fairs usually last for just one weekend, which is why Bill said that he was praying for lightning. Lightning means rain and if it rains, most people wouldn't go to the fair.

The Street Faires that Bill is referring to is the type where they block off a block or two of some gentrified neighborhood or some large parking lot and set up rows of those 10'x10' booths and a few stages. Featuring small artists and their crafts, Home baked/made food items, all kinds of different Street Food, Fundraiser game booths for various kid's groups, and a few Musical groups and or performances.
Farmers Markets can be very similar.
People go to "see and be seen", eat, drink, and be Merry and pick a few items that they wouldn't normally spend money on.
