    There's a huge difference between working on this versus a random flipper. This could very well be your best content because this truck has the best story. Pour your heart into this one.

    Those old rear main seals can be removed with a device called a "Sneaky Pete" seal remover with out taking it apart.

      Was just going to say the same, still a pain but less work than pulling the crank. Last time I used one was 1996.

      The rear main seal is only half of what seals the rear main on an FE. There's also the rubber seals with nails on the sides of the main cap. Those leak when they get old too. Good luck with whatever that sneaky pete tool is, because that main cap is coming off lol.

    • @kennethclifford1863
      @kennethclifford1863 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattsRageFitGarage The sneaky pete tools allows you to pull the block half of the rope seal out and pull a new one back in, the main cap is removed but the crank stays in.

      @@kennethclifford1863 Now it makes sense. The way he wrote his comment made it sound like he could get it out without taking the engine half apart. No way! lol

    Love that the truck is still in the family. This is a small thing but I love how the factory workers markings (36 number, etc) are still on the firewall. If nothing else just cover them with flat clear so they don't get removed by accident. Keep the cool videos coming!

    Really looking forward to watching you get this one up and running. That horn switch reminds me of when I was an MP in Vietnam. Our jeeps had 3 floor switches - starter, high beams and the switch that our motor pool added for the siren. I still remember the hilarity that ensued when a new 2nd Looie took one of the jeeps to the PX. When he went to leave it took him forever to figure out why the siren went off every time he stepped on the "starter". That's the kind of thing that sticks in a guy's memory for over 50 years . :)

    When a radio isn't used for a long time, the capacitors dry out. Try leaving it turned on for a few hours (key in accessory position) & (volume turned down) and the caps "may" start healing.

    My 1st car was my Dad's 1965 Ford Country Sedan Station Wagon. Yes...I built it. Yes...I raced it. Yes...IT WAS FUN! We got it when I was seven. I took ownership when I was 15 and had it until I was 27. MAN, I miss that car! I also owned a '65 Galaxie. Not as much fun but a close second.
    The interior of the pick up looks SO MUCH like the interior of the Wagon, I'm having flash backs! haha! The bench seat is almost the same. I had the EXACT steering wheel wrap. The shifter position "window" is the same. Yeah, man. I love your truck. Treat it good and it will treat you good in return. Have fun. It's good to see this old iron being taken care of.
    Be safe, stay healthy.

    I wanted a Craig Stereo in my 65 so I moved the radio to a spot under the right side of the instrument cluster. I moved the other knob items like the cigar lighter and vent knob to the left and right of the radio. Then, I cut a hole in the dash and mounted the Craig in place where the radio was previously located. I then trimmed it out with a chrome border and it really looked cool, especially at night when it lit up the interior.
    I put speakers in both doors and above the rear upper corners of the cab. Then I added a spray on vinyl white top so the truck was blue with a white top. Then I put mags on it and a chrome headache rack. I topped it off with roll and pleated seats. It was a beautiful machine and my girlfriend loved it. I was a perfect setting for parking on quiet country roads, if you know what I'm saying.

    I found John's Channel, JRGO, from his appearance on 'Hoovies Garage' last year. I loved Hoovie, but his channel has lost it's charm now for me and has become too much about exotics and 'get me to a million subscribers' sadly. 'WatchJRGGO' is the best and it's so engaging, I am really hooked because it is the most entertaining and educational car TH-cam channel for me! Thanks for all the hard work John! Mechanical choke if it's hooked up probably. Find the choke knob and pull it all the way out and it will start. Well looks like you found it, watching as I type this. Try about 3/4 out and it should run ok till it starts to warm up. If that's a big block I'd be surprised if it has a C4 as I'm pretty sure they never used those behind a BB. Might want to consider a disk brake conversation from a later similar pickup while you're at it. I got everything I needed out of a 75 4 door Dart I bought for 150 years ago and drove home. Good luck, it'll be sweet when it's sorted.

    Subscribed. I love old Ford (or any brand) trucks. That big FE was the workhorse back in the day.

    How in the world, with all of the previous projects on here, did you JUST give us this amazing vehicle. Great, simple machine. I can't wait to see it finished. It might make me forget about the Rolls and Camaro, but probably not lol.

    Nice truck. I had a 1968 Mercury M-100. 300 cu inline-6. 3 on the tree. Couldn't get over 70 mph. But ran beautifully. Only 80,000 miles on her 👍
