The fact that the first song that has played on that radio since at least 2017 is, specifically, the solo from Freebird is extremely poetic.

I'm glad you pointed out how important it is to always install a new throw out bearing when you pull a transmission. If a bearing siezes, it will eat the pressure plate and everything else in there; it just isn't worth the risk. Don't ask me how I know that!

Check the Throttle position sensor for the 4k hang up issue. Just a thought. Also, tightly wrap 1 layer of Duct tape around the knerled threads on the shifter handle and hammer home the shift knob. It wont go anywhere after that. Call an auto windshield replacment company and have them cut a piece of safety glass to the rear window dimensions.

Also, mine had a thing where the connection of the fuel pump relay connection in the terminal block was slightly wonky so it was common I'd try to start it with no fuel pump, have to go jiggle the fuel pump relay, and then it would fire right up. Seems like a bunch of my friends with rangers had the same problem, so it's always one of the first things I check if the fuel pump doesn't kick on. >_

I love the old Ranger. I have a 99 Ranger XLT that my dad bought new, 3.0 liter V6, automatic, power steering, power brakes, a/c, cruise control, am, fm, and cassette player. He only drove it a couple miles a day to and from his work. Around 2012 dad asked if he could park it under a carport at my house as mom wanted the space in their garage for her gardening. After about a year, dad asked if I'd like to have it. I immediately took his offer. Today it's back in the garage at Mom's. It gets driven about once a month. Still looks like new and has 55k miles. I'll never sell it. Maybe someday I'll pass it down to someone in the family.

For lack of power- check for vacuum leaks in the intake! Not just visually, but hook up a smoker and smoke the thing. On mine there were a BUNCH of cracks in the old intake pipe (smearing rubber cement over the whole thing helped), as well as a few leaks around the throttle plate shaft. Patching all that made the old truck a bit happier and bumped up gas mileage a little bit.
It's funny though, can hardly do 70 just hauling one person, but put two tons of stuff in the bed/trailer and it still performs the same! It's like these Rangers want to do work, great little trucks.

Three minutes into the video and I already love it. My first truck and daily driver for about 9 years, is a 1994 Ranger XLT extended cab, 4.0L V6 with a 5 Speed Manual and 4x4. I still have it, has loads of problems after rolling over 250k miles, but I swap it out for my new daily every week and drive it still to this day.

Ahh...the good ole 3.0L V6. My first car was a 1994 Eddie Bauer Exploder with the 4.0 OHV V6, a 6" Skyjacker suspension lift, and 35x12.50 Super Swampers on 15" chrome bullethole wheels. I bought it with 64,000 miles on the clock. I swapped the 4.0 for a Fox Body 302W and I kept the AOD4 trans (which I regret because it had to be rebuilt five times by a questionable shop), and I also installed an Explorer Express Eaton M90 supercharger kit. It had shorty headers, a full cold air intake (that I fabricated out of intercooler piping), and a full 3" dual exhaust with custom 48" glasspacks and 14" chrome slant cut tips. It was only 2WD, but it was alot of fun in a straight line and it sounded AMAZING! I also had a 1995 2WD Ranger Super (first year for the new body style) with a 4.0 OHV and the new 4R55E electronic transmission that I bought for $500 and that thing would seriously lay an 11 for 150 feet from a dead stop.

If you ever have to do a headliner and want to make it easy, you can get a very small roller to help guide the material against the glue. You can use generic canned spray adhesive, but it tends to let go with heat cycles faster than automotive glue. My father used to spray the back of the material and roll it down onto the board

a great way to get the smell out of carpet.. Get a cheap box of detergent, add in a box of baking soda, mix it.. then sprinkle the carpet with it.. cut a gallon of tap water with 2 cups of white commercial vinegar.. put that in a spray container.. spray the sprinkled carpet.. it will lift the mouse gross out of the carpet, usually will save any carpet.

Finally found a decent man, met him and looked it over, next day it was in my garage. He said (mileage unknown 200k 300k?)
I do automotive, no rust on mine, I can still see factory paint all under my bed. I love. it fixed small things here and there but mostly elbow grease, wet sanded and polished the whole truck. I got lucky on this so far, about 4k and it
    Runs like a champ.

Here in our area Rangers of that generation are very common. Many are still in use as daily drivers for the original owners, farmers, and as parts delivery trucks by local parts stores. Our closest neighbor had one, 6cyl "step side", 5sp manual, etc., etc. until he decided to give it to his stepson to drive to work and tech school. That truck had over 150,000 original owner miles on it, with the factory engine and transmission! The only place it had ever been serviced at was our local Ford dealership which was where our neighbor had purchased it new. Sad to say, many of the Rangers still in use in our area, out lasted the dealerships where they were sold and many of them are on their third and fourth owners. I have no idea how many of them have had their engines and transmissions replaced over the years but I'm sure it would be more than a few. By the way, your truck falls in the high middle range of the condition range for those still on the road around here which goes kind of like this: #1: Survived a young war. #2: Still running but nobody knows why. #3: Damn good truck that runs like a champ but looks like crap. #4: Looks and runs like new and may have been kept under cover and bubble rapped for most of its like. I really wish I had purchased one way back when as I'm pretty sure I would still be driving it. By the way, don't forget that your Ranger shares many parts with its Mazda "twin" of the era.

Put it in a new paint gun (You will need the pressure.) hit the interior with it and let it sit over night. Hit it again the following day. You still have to take it apart to find all the nests. and youcan spray the enzyme cleaner into the voids and get much better penetration.

Wow this one hits me personally. My dad had an emerald green 93 extra cab 4x4 so close to looking like this, wheels w/ BFG tires and all. When our family out grew it, he upgraded to an f150 Supercrew we had for many years, after. We sold the Ranger to a close relative. When I turned 16, my family bought it back and it was my first truck. Enjoyed the heck out of it. I later traded for the slippery slope I have been down for years since then in BMW e30 land.
