    Today we're looking at the latest Kia's GETTING A UTE campaign, going through the easter eggs hidden throughout the campaign, and taking a sneaky look at a late-stage prototype sitting in South Korea. The craziest part is that Kia is going after the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux to get 10% of the whole Ute market in Australia!! @AndyViant 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What they should aim for is an electric driveline, about 30-40kwh battery with a range extender motor. It reduces complexity enormously, reduces battery weight and cost.
      That would probably need a fairly hefty range extender motor and tank though, probably a 2 litre diesel. The Outlander runs a 2.4 litre engine and 20kwh battery.

    • @joshsmith9058

      Does anyone want a off road Hybrid. Why add the weight to go off road

    • @AndyViant
      @AndyViant 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@joshsmith9058yes, people do. The running costs of 4wd's far exceed normal cars, yet most of them rarely go offroad.
      But they still DO go offroad, iften a long way offroad, even if they spend 95% of their time onroad doing basic daily commuting duties that a PHEV can do.
      Also there are those who need a 4wd for the towing capacity they provide, but wish to do long daily travel distances that would not be possible on current battery charge times.
      Hybrids address these criteria.

Better than any hybrid driving extra urban. The annual service is second to none, the staff are fantastic, and having recently owned a Ford, which was shite for quality, service and staff interaction, I'll never buy another Ford again. But I will buy a Kia Ute without hesitation..

      @@AndyViant Agreed. Manufacturers cater to what most people want, mostly as recreational vehicles rather than need as an affordable work focused vehicles. Big high riding dual cab utes with weld body trays definitely give you that special feeling in the pants but are of limited value for work done in city environments. I see these sorts of utes towing trailers as the trays are too small and difficult to get stuff in and out without drop sides. To me, it’s failed as a ute if you need to tow a trailer while the tray is mostly empty. Each to their own though.
