I have ALL 8 seasons of Magnum and each show was never boring, always an interesting story especially involving Michelle....THERE IS ONLY 1 MAGNUM PI and his name is Tom Selleck

@Leo Peridot I neither know very much about Tom Selleck, nor do I care. I could look up his information and pretend that I already knew it, but I literally don't care enough to bother.
Magnum P.I. was a reasonably good show, and far better than much of the garbage produced today. I watched it sometimes, but was never hooked on it.
My comment was about you, not the show. You sound like an America hating asshat.

Let's not forget Magnum was and is a tribute to war veterans back to normal life. Provided real soldiers can identify with the characters, I certainly wish the best to the current Magnum

The 6th season episode of the original Magnum,P.I. series is the only one with Tom Selleck in it without the rest of the cast in it. It was touching to find out that Magnum had a half-brother on his mother‘s side who wanted to serve the USA but didn‘t come home alive from Vietnam.

I still occasionally watch a rerun of this great show. Tom S. is the ONLY Thomas Sullivan Magnum!! I forced myself to watch 5 minutes of the reboot and almost barfed. The new "Magnum" is a completely different guy. He drives a Ferrari, wears Magnum's hats, has a team ring and two great friends etc. but, as far as his personality, it's nowhere near the real deal. The new guy says "he inspires Robin Masters novels." That one comment bugged me a lot. Magnum was self-deprecating and he'd never say something so egotistical. He was a real guy. In the big picture, his life seemed great. As we got to know his character, we learned he had no money, he had his version of PTSD, he lost a lot of loved ones, he was often heart-broken and emotionally vulnerable. However, when the time came, he was the badass he needed to be. He was never an ego guy...like this new shrimp. (a 5'8" Magnum?? Was he the place kicker for the Navy football team?) I liked the beginning clip from an episode where Magnum dunks a basketball. "Still got the old springs!" Magnum was lovable big guy with a huge heart. I think Tom S. was so good as Magnum because he basically was the character. He's Magnum, IMO, in all of his roles. I'm not insulting his range as an actor. I just think he found the role of a lifetime and it stuck. If people like the new Magnum, that's fine by me. The show bugs me but I don't ever want to wish others harm or hope a show fails if people enjoy it. Rest in peace, John H. and all of Magnum PI's great characters who have, hopefully, moved on to a better place. It's tough to see so many cast members gone. I saw TC awhile back promoting a hotel and I wanted to cry. Time has its nasty way with all of us.

I struggle with depression and watching magnum pi (original) always gets me every time I watch an episode. I think I sympathize with the character because magnum is struggling with depression and loss in his own way😥

Cast of the original show has immortalized the characters. Duplication of the show by replacing the actors becomes impossible because of that.

THIS is why the original Magnum was unique and successful.
I cannot see "the Directors of Fast and Furious" replicating this.
Didn't even see the whole episode and it gets me.

They don't do stuff like that anymore. Deep down you can feel the sorrow and pain magnum is going through. It doesn't matter what war it was. It is the feeling year's later. It is also something you can connect to other loses friends like family members.
I watched the new show and honestly after 25 minutes I turned it off. There is no soul in it. Some stuff should be never redone. The original stays forever the rest will be forgotten....

@@dalemcilwain He's actually not a Vietnam war veteran. He served in the national guard from 1967-73 but never actually went to Vietnam.

8 seasons of Magnum, and there are far better scenes than this one, which is not to say this isn't great...it is, it really says something about being a vet of that war, and to think the reboot will have any effect like this does??? pffttt….how can the average person realize that when something is so good.....you leave it alone...but a tv executive or producer these days will reboot anything and crap all over a legacy?....cant do anything but shake your head and watch Magnum dvds.
