@@StillStandingGarage mine are both still covered in snow, but starting to thaw out. Will be getting back to work on them probably beginning of next month
That pipe they welded on the shallow cups is to keep the coils from popping out while hopping. The shallow cup gives more lockup over the deep cups because the cylinder isn’t sunken in like with deep cups. It’s actually very smart.
@@StillStandingGaragethose are shallow cups with pipe welded to them , was a common practice back in the 90’s to keep springs from flying out. Wrap a shop towel around your cylinders then put them in the vice and turn your fitting with a crescent wrench to keep from scratching your cylinders (especially when chrome)
First time seeing it too. Never took these apart since the install back in '05. I'm thinking the car was sitting too low or the cylinders were hitting something in the engine compartment.
@@StillStandingGarage yes carnal I'm in the same boat they always loosing after a while I had my front cylinder fly off one time when I was hopping for them being loose on the bottom went through my hood on my s10
You make information video bro appreciate your time btw if u only had like two of those donuts u could of just lift the car with jack then dumped it completely and pull up on the spring and cylinder and can be taking off even without removing anything not even the wheel
Question, does the bushing in the cylinder (the plastic one in the old cylinders and the brass one in the new ones) need to go in all the way? Im rebuilding a cylinder and cant seem to get in the bushing without hitting it with something. Thanks man!
Great video , I’m peacing together a system , I only have 1 doughnut for my cyilinder I see you have 4 , 5 of them do I have to have more of them . Thanks for your time
Nice! You don't necessarily need 5 donuts. I have 5 donuts because I believe my cylinders were hitting something in the engine compartment when they were initially installed. I put them back in since that's the way they came out. In the future, I'll be upgrading my whole system and will only be using 1 donut.
Appreciate all the kick ass videos! Quick question on the ball joints you installed. Do you have a link for where you bought them? Also, they are heavy duty correct? I am also working on a 79 Monte, w/ FBSS. I’m wanting to change out the ball joint’s, Thanks in advance.
It makes it easier if no oil is in the cylinders. I locked it up to add the jack stands. Then I put a jack under each bottom a-arm to dump the front and remove the oil from the cylinders. It doesn't get messy either if no oil is in the cylinders. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
@@StillStandingGarage appreciate it Homie! I just purchased 2 for the Monte. Quick question, if I’m not replacing or doing maintenance to my front cylinders (Just replacing ball joints), do I need to remove the hose from the cylinder?
@@StillStandingGaragethanks bro I’m starting with a project that already had hydrolics but was parked for 10 years hopefully I can get it going thanks for the feedback! 🙏
I use an old piece of a bike tire to wrap any pipes before I use the vice and vice grips. Saves from getting scratched
Great tip! Thank you for sharing
@@StillStandingGarage your welcome. How's the MC projects coming along
They're sitting for now... I'm going to buff and cut the 78 soon. The 79 is going to sit a bit longer. How are your Montes?
@@StillStandingGarage mine are both still covered in snow, but starting to thaw out. Will be getting back to work on them probably beginning of next month
Oh damn! Well at least you're getting back on them 💯
Lock-tite is used usually on bolts not hydraulic fittings, on fitting use Monster blue Teflon tape take it from a plumber
Got it 🤝 this method was recommended by the shop that manufacturers and used to install hydraulic set ups 🤷♂️. Thank you!

Very informative. Thanks! I use gas and a brush to clean parts.
Thank you, and I'll try that next time 💯. Thank you for watching 💪.
Looking good. What’s the reason behind the 5 donuts on the cylinder never seen that done

Love your work bro very clean regal too keep up the good content brother lowriders 4 eternity
Thank you 💪💯
Do more videos of the monte
They're coming 💪 I'm just getting the Regal street ready.. I have a few more on the Regal then the Monte videos will drop 💯 Thank you for watching 👊
That's what's up carnal my cylinders tend to loosen up on the bottom after awhile I always gotta tighten them by hand constantly
I thought there could be a better way of tightening these but I haven't found one. Thank you for watching 👊💯

Thank you. Yeah, I'm not sure why I have so many donuts. I'm planning on re-doing my whole system, so I'm leaving it as is for now.

Yeah, these are heavy-duty ball joints from what I read and was told. There's a link in this video's description. Nice! I love them 3rd gen Montes 🔥💯
Do you know which drop mounts and upper adjustable arm for a 73 monte calo can I use caddy or caprice
I'm not sure about those second generation Montes.
When you performed the job, does it matter if the front is locked up all the way or half way?
It makes it easier if no oil is in the cylinders. I locked it up to add the jack stands. Then I put a jack under each bottom a-arm to dump the front and remove the oil from the cylinders. It doesn't get messy either if no oil is in the cylinders. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
What length of hydraulic hoses do you have running from the trunk to your front Cylinders?
I honestly don't remember. This was installed almost 20 years ago. Thank you for watching 🤝💯
do you have powerballs on the rear.i didnt see them in the video
No, I don't. That's one of the future upgrades I want to do.
Just seen the part where you said you went on Lay it Low but was their a certain individual you bought them from or a company?
I bought them from Holley. I have the link to them on this video's description. Check it out 💪
@@StillStandingGarage appreciate it Homie! I just purchased 2 for the Monte. Quick question, if I’m not replacing or doing maintenance to my front cylinders (Just replacing ball joints), do I need to remove the hose from the cylinder?
No problem. If you're just replacing the ball joints, you don't need to remove the cylinder hose.
@@StillStandingGarage ok Thanks!
Thanks for watching 💪💯
What coils u got in the back
Those are front stock coils that are cut.
Question. Why so many doughnuts? Is it for height or safety?
I didn't install these. I think they were installed because the cylinders must have been hitting something in the engine bay.
@@StillStandingGarage oh ok. I'm trying to install some cylinders too and only have one set of doughnuts.
@gpena383 Oh, I see. You might be ok
What are the donuts for? New to the game don’t kill me
It's all good. The donunt prevents the cylinder from coming out through the top.

How much extended are the a arms here
1 inch extended
@@StillStandingGarage thanks bro i like that tuck
Appreciate it 💪💯
All they did with the cup is make the shallow into a deep by welding the pipe just so it can go deeper into the coil
I would rather have a one-piece deep cup. Thank you for watching 👊💯
Drove mine 1300 mi locked up on wires lol no problem but not testing my luck again
That's whats up!! Mine has been sitting for a long time and I've never replaced any of it
👍🏾

Umm I don't think there is enough donuts on them cylinders... the minimum requirement is 20 donuts per cylinder. 😂
How the Monte coming carnal been a minute lol
It's just sitting for now lol
@@StillStandingGarage lol shi can’t wait to see her cut and buff to show her new color

Buy deep cups
I am. Once I get to upgrade the front, I'm planning on buying the correct cups. I believe I said it in the video. Thank you for watching 👊💯
