I heard it meant, "Why do good people suffer while bad people prosper?" and God say's "You can only learn if they get justice in the afterlife- I/e no one may see my face and live- however sometimes in hindsight you might understand things more clearly- I/e you may only see my back."

Yahweh said if i show you my Kavod you will die, then he said you cant see it until'l you can but if you want to see it come to the top of the mountain in the morning, which means God didn't have his Kavod with him when he spoke to Moses. He went on to say, now listen carefully. He said get rid of all the people and animals at the base of the mountain, then he said you cant see it from the front and when it passes from east to west take shelter in a crack in the mountain.

Interesting. As a Christian (Jew by blood), I think Moses is just wanting to know God more, it's not about the people anymore. The "comment about what a philosopher thinks" idea rings more true to me. Moses has seen the plagues, the pillar of fire, the Red Sea, but now, He wants to see all of God's glory. We see a great (apparent) contradiction: In one section, Moses speaks to God face to face as with a man. In the end of the chapter, no one can see His face and live. Christians see every instance of God speaking face to face with man as pre-incarnate messiah (God spoke face to face with Adam, Abram, Moses, others, etc.). In the new testament., two disciples see Jesus glowing, transfigured, speaking with Moses (spirit) on a mountaintop, clothed in a human body to hide that glory that would otherwise kill a man... that face that no one can see. It makes sense. Jesus' explanation makes sense, "No one has seen the Father at any time, EXCEPT through the Son which has made Him known. Therefore, like David Banner hides the Hulk, so the flesh of the Messiah (Son) hides the Glory of theFather that would kill men. I have heard that "back of God" means literally His backside, but I have also heard it means 'what a place looks like after God has passed through it,' almost as if a barren valley glowed and sprouted flowers or glorious light or something was left over. Thoughts?

[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. [9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:8-9

Jesus Christ is also "the hulk". No one has ever seen Jesus Christ in full Glory. At the Mount of transfiguration that was only a speck of dust in comparison to the fullness and greatness of his glory that he will and does display in eternity. Yes no one can see the father but no one to see the sun in full glory and live 1st Timothy chapter 6.
