Male mallard ducks have an exceptionally high rate of homosexuality, as high as 19%. Black swans have an even higher rate, around 25%, and male pairs will steal eggs from females to raise them themselves. Two male griffon vultures at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo were observed having “enthusiastic” sex, and raised a chick together when provided with an egg. Both male and female American bison have been observed engaging in homosexual behavior, over 20 species of bat are known to form same sex pairs, and bonobos as a species are inherently bisexual. Homosexuality has also been observed in penguins, lions, elephants, giraffes, dolphins, sheep, hyenas, lizards, and turtles, and that's not even a comprehensive list. So, maybe get back to me when you have a question not based on a false premise. Nature correct or anything?
Nice presentation But what isnt answered is the important question: "Why is homosexuality supposed to be a SIN?" the answer was "I dont know." It is NO offer for a young gay or lesbian , to leave his or her beloved partner and life in celibacy. It is NO offer for a homosexual person to marry a oposide sex person and make the other person and himself unhappy, frustratred till developing domestical violence. And all that just for a morality that nobody can say why and what for it even exist.
Exactly. Listening to this makes steam come out of my ears. These rabbis talk like they no better and then they do things that are soo soo wrong. I went to bais Yaakov and witnessed it with my own eyes. Disgusting
Same sex and who we are brought up with is more familiar as children. Boys often only identify with other boys. So as an adult one knows what is pleasurable in someone of the same sex. If sex is a game, then people can play it any which way. My Father used me for his sexual pleasure because my Mom hated his abusive behavior and wouldn't be near him. I needed his love and intimacy, but not adult intimacy. The process of development as a boy was spoiled by this and confused me when puberty began age 10. My confusion was perpetuated by father's family and psychiatrists one side telling me to act on my same sex attraction and religious christians friends and some others from my father's family warned me not to act on them. Christianity polarized the problem. So one could say christianity and other religions are more natural. Years after I discovered my Mom was Jewish, I began to investigate Torah for real, and abandon christian perversion of Torah. It is also a problem in the Torah world, where people cut off their heart from their head knowledge. So I also became a problem in that world for exposing abuse there as well, which is just as covered up as in the cristian and secular world. Secular world covers it up with lgbtqqaatkip+ political mentality. A 2nd P is being added to include paedophilia as a sexuality. So incest may be more natural, but it does harm a child because a child needs safe intimacy not adult sexual intimacy. As an adult one can choose to sexualize a relationship with any other adult, and let it screw one's psyche. Baruch Hashem better late than never I am beginning to experience feelings I should have been able to be safe to feel as a toddler, young boy, teenager and young man. It is frustrating to be in my 50s to begin to grow out of just same sex attraction of pre puberty to feel male enough to think my attraction to women can lead to a healthy relationship and sexual intimacy, and address how unnatural or intrusive it appears to have intercourse where urine comes out, almost as intrusive as where faeces comes out.
Sending you a big sister hug🦋…I started enjoying nature and dancing like a little girl to gain back some childhood….then I pretended I went to college @Vandi for my 50 th to heal what was stolen from me. Healing is heavenly 🦋🥰🌈🌹
I’m so sorry; no child should suffer through such horrors. Maybe you can join with other adult survivors & help society learn to protect children from such evil. I think we desperately need adults who were victims to fix the system & educate the rest of us on how to protect children without making them terrified of the world. Sending hugs, love, & prayers to you.

Homosexuals are fine, just the way they are, the way G-d created them. There have always been observant Jews who are homosexual, and there always will be.
God didn't create them, satan did. Once you get to know a homosexual he will confide in you that some older guy molested him when he was young. At first they will always say no, but once they trust you they will tell you the truth. Once that happens, it's very hard for them to have a normal life, satan has stolen that from them.
@@yitzkhakkaufman3264One who wants to break Shabbat and doesn’t is fine. A man who wants to have intercourse with another man and doesn’t is also fine.
I heard someone talk about a transparent translation as concerns homosexuality. It traced the common passages used to condemn gay people from Hebrew, to Aramaic, to Greek, to English. There were amazing changes especially when choosing Greek instead of staying in the Hebrew.
He’s homosexual also, of course he’s going to rationalize homosexuality. No normal man, or rabbi, would approve homosexuality, unless they, were in fact, homosexual.
What he's alluding to is that it's natural to seek pleasure, but the torah gives morals to guide us toward a meaninful life. But he had to send you through mental gymnastics to the point where the point was lost.
I don’t understand the thinking behind the statement “I don’t know why it’s a sin.” Especially from someone who understands the value of family in the context of religious practice. For two people of opposite genders to be together for life is the most challenging relationship on the earth. The challenge is designed by HaShem. There is nothing on this earth that encourages more growth and maturity than choosing to spend your life with someone so absolutely different than you. We simply miss the mark when we choose to spend our lives with someone because it’s easier. What could be easier than two people with the exact same make up spending intimate time with one another? It is a sun because it is the easier path.
It's up to you as an individual to attempt to rationalize G-d's law, if you wish. Most faithful Jews just say because that's what G-d intended or wanted or said so. Just like he said one shall not Judge. We are all sinful, but G-d wants us to be better. A homosexual who does more mitzvahs than a straight murderer or rapist would be closesr to G-d and have a higher standing.
What i understood from what he's saying is when God say's a thing is bad then it is bad, don't look for readons to convince yourself before agreeing to it or promoting it , it's all about obedience to God's instructions.
But GD himself did not say it's bad. It was written as such in a translation of a translation. The #1 thing we can do as Jews and as children of Hashim is to question everything, you can not build faith on blind following, you can't build a relationship on ignorance. A proper jew must strive to understand what it is that Hashim is asking of us and why he is asking that. Hebrew is a dead language, what we have now is a reconstruction based of a translation of a translation of a translation. It is not to be taken as the true word of GD.
Religion espouses the SUPER or SUPRA NATURAL and therefore promotes and informs from that specific view. Why do people never get this? Excellent discussion!
Also it would be natural for us to eat whatever food we can eat.. Yet we are given dietary commandments. A big misconception is that these guidelines are for health (which I'm glad you mentioned this misconception)

I was in Jerusalem about three years ago. I was by myself. By chance, I got into a conversation with a young pretty woman in a store. She told me with pride that she's gay. I was wearing a kippah. I talked to her about the type of life she chose and she listened to me. I concluded by telling her, "I'm not chastising you for what you're doing. But look at a woman who's been gay for most of her life. A woman who is in her late forties. Look at where she is. Because that very well may be where you will be in 25 years." She thought about what I told her for a moment and actually thanked me.
so the woman in her late 40's was an old butch lesbian or was she single and looking lonely with no offspring? they dont always have to be gay to be childless,

Sin is our natural as human beings because we were born into sin and shape in iniquity. So God had to tell us what is morally right or we would continue in our natural sin life.
It makes absolute sense. Would you accept p*dophilia? Why/why not? There’s no reason to reject it other than commandments. One can make arguments in favor of it, which actually there’s a group of people these days making arguments in favor of p*do philia; nothing can stop them from it if we accept sexual sins as normal. Same for *ncest and others.
Adam and Eve where not the only people on the planet. Because: When Cain killed Abel, he became a fugitive and he said to God, "I must hide from you and be a wanderer over the earth, Why, whoever comes across me will kill me." And, God gave him a mark so he would not be struck down by others who came across him. Gen:4 vs 14&15. Am I misinformed that 'whoever and others" does not mean other people besides Adam, Eve and Cain? Appreciate a response.
I believe Adam and Eve were the first ones who obtained the ability to judge. The first thing they did was judge their nakedness, which they had to cover with fig leaves. I’m other words, they were the first humans who doubted God when they gained an awareness of themselves and their surroundings.
@@andreegross Disagree. Cain and Abel are first mentioned as children of Adam and Eve. If they had other children besides them, they would have been named first. "Whoever" and "Others" denote people besides themselves and many. And, the ability 'to kill' them is generally associated with adults not children. This doesn't make me doubt scripture, in fact it increases my belief, primarily because of these hidden mysteries.
thank you really much! it was exactly the lesson that I needed now. yesterday one girl asked me for a relationship (I'm girl, too). He is changing the very meaning of the word natural in order to suit his purpose this does not in any way answer the question but redefines commonly used words and confuses people
I feel 'natural' man is the Fallen state of man after the first sin. It is not the original holy perfect state Hashem intended for us. Natural man is at enmity with G-d. That is why we need Hashem and the Torah to guide us.
Sit in a yeshiva for a couple a years and you will start to comprehend, natural in the context of what RMF is to ask, is it less challenging, less unknown, more likely to succeed
As a Karaite Jew I read the Torah. I read Deuteronomy for what it says. Moses says clearly over 50 times not to add anything to it or subtract. Deuteronomy doesn't say anything about homosexuality but does about other things. Are we to believe that God forgot? Then why believe any of it? God is clear that Deuteronomy is the law.
@@DrKaiiNo. It Deuteronomy replaced it. One cannot observe Deuteronomy and Leviticus at the same time because Deuteronomy says over 50 times not to add or subtract from Deuteronomy.
The risk is there with incest. You may not get burned playing with matches, you may not fly out through the windshield from not wearing a seatbelt. These things are still wrong.
the reason it is forbidden is not because it can be dangerous, wrong, immoral, or unnatural. the reason it is forbidden is because god told us not to do it.
So gos said so.. ah the dogma.. without thinking why.. like saying the trinity is the truth.. because this is what God says.. one can state! same sex does not harm anyone actually, you just need common sense. There are still people suffering because their families forced them to get married.. this is nonsense.
Great teaching. I feel even secular science and studies are finding out that when people practice things forbidden in the Torah, it has a negative affect on our bodies and souls. I agree, first off, it is sin and we must fear G-d, love Him and obey. But how amazing Hashem is to help guide us not just because He have 'given the orders' but because Hashem loves us and wants the best for us. Thank you Rabbi for your wonderful teachings and faithfulness.
leviticus on this topic only mentioned nonconsentual relations in a woman's bed between the man and male, and it had nothing to do with consentual relations in their own bed. Also no mention of lesbians in old testament.
I am shocked by what the rabbi is preaching here. So, murder is only a sin because God says so? He were were right if we were animals but we are created after God's image and we are able to understand the moral law. How can you compare sodomy with eating pork? Having sex with my brother is more natural than with my wife?? So, i would say to learn what is normal, look at your parents, are they your father and your uncle or you came from two women? One could argue in our fallen state sin is natural but still we are created after God's image that's why we are held accountable for our deeds. This also how rabbi Paul writes in his first letter to the Romans.
great point, but the atheist would rebute it by simply claiming that the Bible did not come from God, but well intentioned but misinformed individuals. What would you respond to that? Would like to know, thank you!
Unless you are homosexual, you won't understand that homosexuality is not a choice. Rabbi is talking as if we can choose it, as simply as choosing a footbal team. I would have chosen to be hetero if only I could. But I cannot. Why? Because to me, it is NATURAL to be repulsed by male genitals. We often talk about homosexuality as an attraction to same sex, but that is not fully correct. Homosexuality can also mean being repulsed by the opposite sex, and there is nothing one can do to change it. Arguably, one could force themselves, but is that life? Forcing one self into something that is unnatural and unsustainable? Be real here, whomever would do that. There wouldn't anything holy in living a life like that. We might not be rejected, as Rabbi says, but we are left out in many other ways and I explain why: adultery is a sin too, as Rabbi says, however adultery (as long as it's hetero) is more accepted than homosexuality, and Rabbi knows it. Everyone knows it. An man that cheated on his wife with another woman, may get divorce and re marry and still be kosher. Adultery is a temporary sin. Homosexuality, something that unlike adultery is NOT a choice, is a life-long state of sin. And that's not fair, that is why I say we are left out: because it feels as if we are marked from the very beginning.
I think when Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden that God created more humans on the other side of earth. I don’t think that Abel was married but, I know that Cain was. Cain got kicked out the area of where his parents were and was a vagabond on the earth after he killed Abel. He then found a wife. It doesn’t make sense that he would have married his sister. It really doesn’t state in the Bible about Cain marrying his sister and doesn’t say that God made other people but, it makes more sense.
This Rabbi says he does not want a God that serves him, but the one and most incredible special way God serves us all is by loving us. So if you want to serve a God that does not serve us, such as love, " he loves us. Then he must worship the opposite the darkness, the blindness of the world. I pray for this R😢abbi that he finds the true light" that a dream may come to him. And open up his blind mind^eyes🎉 my opinion only.
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Romans 1:27 “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1:28 “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”
True sin is having a gift and not giving it to the world Behaviour and character refinement is highly regarded Anything below the belt should be private and confidential and kept for divine purpose When having children, openings are portholes and should be sanctified because we know better Marriage is simbolic between the two hemispheres of the brain, left and right, and reflects in the world
I believe what the rabbi is saying is that the only reason anything is forbidden is because god said so. whether or not its natural or unnatural, moral or immoral, something could be the most immoral thing in the world but if god commands us to do it we must do it, and vice versa. because with our biased minds we can come up with a moral reason for doing anything (as we see very clearly these days) so the only reason homosexuality is forbidden is because it is a sin. and it is a sin because god said so.
My questions is, how is a person suppose to just shut down their attraction to the same sex? I can't shut off my attraction to women. I don't see how sin is more natural. Bestility is a sin, who naturally wants to have sex with animals? How is incest more natural, most humans are not attracted to their siblings. Nobody had to tell me incest was wrong. In order to avoid inbreeding, humans and other animals develop a strong sexual aversion to individuals with whom they have lived closely in infancy and early childhood (usually biological siblings), a phenomenon called the “Westermarck effect” or negative sexual imprinting. Even animals don't like to do incest, you think that's because animals sit around reading Torah? Homosexuality is not natural, if enough people did it, it would be the end of the species. Life doesn't try to extinguish itself, that doesn't make sense what he's saying. Every animal has an innature desire to survive, homosexuality and incest would prevent that natural desire to survive.
It's funny, when I dovened chabad nobody seemed to care that I was gay, at least so long as the donation checks kept coming. If you're asking to get authorization, you won't get it. It's not allowed per the Torah, per G-d, per the Creator. Incest, whichever way it happened, occurred when there were a limited amount of people on the planet, to "get things going". G-d's choice. Following that He said "no".

They used to do that. Left was considered to be “sinister” and of the devil, so being left handed was also considered to be of the devil and they would force people to use the right hand. It did not work out well for our people in the desert for 40 years to reject god's commandments in favor of our own personal understanding or desires or what we want outside of gods commandments. That is still true for us as Jews, the commandments are not gone because of the time that has passed. When anyone wants to justify sin , time to run for cover.

"One day someone is going to come along and PROVE that homosexuality is natural. Then what are you going to say?" (10:05). It's already been tried. Some biologists saw male ducks chasing each other and mating. Their findings were published saying: "Homosexuality is not unnatural. Within the animal kingdom, it's everywhere". With that observation, all 'Biblical' arguments seem to have been dismissed. But are they?
Follow you heart that's where God resides with no room for sin. So just know you are loved no matter what, so superficial things and sexual orientation just doesn't matter. The ultimate truth is that there is no good no bad there just is.
This is the first time I’ve disagreed with the rabbi. Adultary has a victim and homosexuality does not. If a man is born gay and is orthodox, you could bring him 100 women and he won’t be attracted to any of them, so he can’t marry them. But man isn’t supposed to be alone. If someone had a disability that left them with the inability to process any food except pork, then we’d be talking about something similar. Also it is not natural to be attracted to your brother. If a man has bad genes his pheromones will release a scent that triggers a woman to make him smell like her brother. And because of that, she won’t be attracted to him.
I hope you understand the true gravity of the sin of anal intercourse. It’s better to be alone than to do it, because it’s one of the few sins for which it’s better to give up one’s life rather than do it.
What is "natural" for one person is not natural for another. I am heterosexual (born that way) but know people who are gay (also born that way), It is natural for me to want sex from women just as it is natural for gays to desire to have sex from other men. This is how we were born, how God created us. Studies show that approximately 12 percent of the population is homosexual (which, by the way, also shown in the animal kingdom). Does this mean that what the 12 percent desire is unnatural? Are you defining the word to mean what the majority do? Or were they created to be unnatural? This whole discussion seems a bit bizarre to me and has led to so much violence against guys. Judgments against other groups about their differences have also led to violence, the most obvious being the holocaust. Jewish leaders should be expressing tolerance, not intolerance.
I am afraid that the biblical theory of sexuality, given the bronze age in which it was conceived, did not have the language or science to contemplate the ethiology of homosexuality. The fact that the Tanach equates HS to "an abomination" betrays its human source.
So our nature/what’s natural for us humans is everything that’s a sin? Our sinful nature is our baseline, then? To murder, steal, commit adultery, do homosexual practices, eat pork is our nature? Our sinful nature? Our natural state? This is so profound!!! So if by giving in to our (sinful) nature, our natural state, we cause so much destruction for our souls, in our individual lives, and the wider creation, whether we can actually see this destruction or not.
If he's having an affair with the person he has hired specifically for the purpose of having the opportunity to cultivate a sexual relationship with anothher person then he is a sexpred. But if he genuinely seeks a loving relationship, he has a good heart. Maybe the love he once had with his wife has somehow died or she has become physically / mentally incapable of demonstrating it as she once did.
When God sent His son, He did what was natural for Him- to offer a means of redemption for the massive sin we all commit. Without God and the Messiah we are left in our wretched, dying state. The longer the world goes on, the more distant we have become from God. God has a plan for His beloved Israel and in the end, His plan will save many from death.
So I would have to interject here and say no, it is not more natural to have incest and homosexuality. Take wolves for instance. In a pack they do not ALL mate with each other, only the Alpha pair. So, if you go by wolves and other natural beings with higher intelligence it’s is NOT natural. And if you’ve ever had a female, intact dog you know how strong her scent is and the natural desire for intact males to mate. So while the Rabbi makes an interesting point. I don’t agree that it’s more natural to tend to be incestuous and homosexual. I believe it goes against nature otherwise the species would not survive. But people, unlike animals are able to process sex differently and use it for pleasure rather than proliferating the human race.
Maybe that's the point: "be fruitful and multiply" is the command; there's nothing commanded to seek pleasure. Pride has gotten humans in trouble since their creation.
I admire the Rabbi but I don’t agree that homosexuality is generally more natural. It is natural - but only from the perspective of those who have this predisposition and feel attracted to the same sex, which is a few percent of human beings. If there cannot be found any explanation why it should be a sin to act out what is in your genetics (and for those who believe in a creator - being actually created like that) by mutual consent with an other adult without harming anyone then I refuse the idea of it being a sin. Being a good person and being homosexual and acting it out is no contradiction, because homosexuality defies moral judgement and is neither good or bad. Saying a homosexual act is a sin is like saying you are not supposed to use your eyes because they are blue.
We either believe or we don't. One thing I have realised in my 70 years is that humans are inherently bad at behaving well toward each other and why we need guidence.

Humanity can see that 2 homosexuals can't make babys. I'm sure they can see that already!

But what isnt answered is the important question: "Why is homosexuality supposed to be a SIN?" the answer was "I dont know."
It is NO offer for a young gay or lesbian , to leave his or her beloved partner and life in celibacy.
Disgusting
It exists because they wanted to promote more people in the tribe.
Thank you to the IGTK team for all you do to share the teachings of Rabbi Friedman with us.
Sorry that happened to you. I admire your courage. I am glad it’s over and you have a beautiful life ahead of you. Peace.

I’m so sorry; no child should suffer through such horrors. Maybe you can join with other adult survivors & help society learn to protect children from such evil. Homosexuals are fine, just the way they are, the way G-d created them. There have always been observant Jews who are homosexual, and there always will be.
And there are also orthodox Jews who don't keep shabbos, or other commandments

I love they way Rabbi uses logic to bring clarity to situations.
He’s homosexual also, of course he’s going to rationalize homosexuality. No normal man, or rabbi, would approve homosexuality, unless they, were in fact, homosexual.
not logic, twisted reasoning
The reason why it’s a sin, is only known to Hashem , not us, there’s no explanations why things are prohibited, they are sins by the design of Hashem
Thank you for this explanation, Rabbi. I've never heard sin explained this way before.

I was wearing a kippah. I talked to her about the type of life she chose and she listened to me. I concluded by telling her, "I'm not chastising you for what you're doing.
But look at a woman who's been gay for most of her life. A woman who is in her late forties. Look at where she is. Because that very well may be where you will be in 25 years."

I believe Adam and Eve were the first ones who obtained the ability to judge. The first thing they did was judge their nakedness, which they had to cover with fig leaves. I’m other words, they were the first humans who doubted God when they gained an awareness of themselves and their surroundings.
The others were Adam's and Eve's other children and grandchildren.
@@andreegross Disagree. Cain and Abel are first mentioned as children of Adam and Eve. If they had other children besides them, they would have been named first.
Judaism doesn’t care about orientation. When he speaks of people who “commit homosexuality”, he’s speaking of anal intercourse between men.
We have to stop judging others and are so quick to have an opinion on these matters . Let the Bible be our guide

Based on this video, I'm assuming that we shouldn't conflate both nature and morality together.
Imagine telling a person born left-handed that it is a "sin" to be left-handed and that they should use their right hand. How cruel would that be?
They used to do that. Left was considered to be “sinister” and of the devil, so being left handed was also considered to be of the devil and they would force people to use the right hand. Now we understand it’s completely natural and not evil. I hope someday we can understand other natural things aren’t evil either.

I can't listen to morality and sin from.a man who thinks girls should marry at age 14.
According to talmud, a boy or girl is not "human" until it is 3 years old and a day.
@@happypiano4810 nonsense. Rabbis were allowed to have boyfriends until Christianity and Islam pushed homophobia.
What is "natural" for one person is not natural for another.

"I don't know what natural means," come on woman answer the question
So our nature/what’s natural for us humans is everything that’s a sin? Our sinful nature is our baseline, then? To murder, steal, commit adultery, do homosexual practices, eat pork is our nature? Our sinful nature? Our natural state? This is so profound!!! So if by giving in to our (sinful) nature, our natural state, we cause so much destruction for our souls, in our individual lives, and the wider creation, whether we can actually see this destruction or not.
Thank you Rabbi Friedman
If he's having an affair with the person he has hired specifically for the purpose of having the opportunity to cultivate a sexual relationship with anothher person then he is a sexpred. But if he genuinely seeks a loving relationship, he has a good heart. Maybe the love he once had with his wife has somehow died or she has become physically / mentally incapable of demonstrating it as she once did.
And that's why God came in and said what is Morally right to do. Exactly his point.
Divorce exists.
Israel is a people, scattered. Only God can gather them. And He will do so, again, at the end of time. Isaiah 11.11
And who says dont you think yr bubbie also was sexually abused so why make a big deal of it.
