  • Lucille Ball is the mystery guest for this episode of What's My Line?
    I've seen other versions of this online, but I wanted one edited so that it would just be Lucy's appearance. :)
    Sorry about the random break in the middle. I don't know how to make it go away. :P
    I do not own this!

      @Justin Stewart Those born before 1970 were probably the only ones to 'learn' penmanship...My mother, schooled in the 40's, was proud of hers. Perfect. She'd ball me out on my modern sloppy scribble. Only thing I use a pen for is to sign my name for the credit card (which I don't - X will do).

      Haha I looked this up a few years ago and I imagine they had probably just finished filming that episode right before this appearance on WML. What it must have been like as an audience to have seen this episode of WML then watch the airing of the Women From Mars episode of ILL.

    • @olensoifer9901
      @olensoifer9901 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The martian episode might have aired after this WML appearance, but the episode could have been filmed before WML. In addition, ILL was performed before a live audience, but simultaneously filmed, for broadcast later...so the TV show itself could not really be considered to be "live TV" in the truest sense of the word. Alternatively, Lucy would have already had the martian episode's script long before it was filmed. Heck...she & Desi owned the studio, so they would have approved upcoming scripts even months in advance. Hence, the martian gibberish on WML was almost certainly not totally spontaneous. That does not diminish how hilarious this WML appearance is. Personally, I often found ILL to be too farfetched...but that also does not diminish Lucy's talent as an entertainer. And, as is often the case with other comedians...she was also a talented serious actor(tress), though her TV career has come to totally over-shadow her prior dramatic work.

    Another great artist from the golden age. Not a perfect time for sure but a thousand times better in the humility shown by so many famous names, unlike today’s egotists who think the World revolves around them.

    She used the same voice as she did when playing a Martian on the episode “Lucy is Envious,” which was released March, 1954. This “What’s My Line?” episode was released the month before - Feb 1954, so maybe she was trying out the voice here.

    a “ Talent to Amuse”.
