Just love Rosalind Russell. My grandma used to be her seamstress. I can’t tell you how proud I am of that.

One of Hollywood's most amazing and funniest actresses. She was heavily into wonderful charities and helped a great many people. She was fabulous in such movies as Auntie Mame, His Girl Friday, The Women, Gypsy, The Trouble with Angels, Mrs. Pollifax Spy, Crooked Hearts and so many more. She was nominated 4 times for an Oscar but sadly never won and should have. Just as sadly she passed away at 69 from breast cancer in 1976. She was very loved by all.

In searching for the Mrs. Polifax movie l discovered some fascinating info. Ms Russell wrote the screen play, using her mother's madsin name as pseudonym. McKnight. My name. She was from the same area as my family. More research coming up! It would be something to find a distant relationship to one of my favorite stars.😅

This was 3 years before she became wildly famous for the role of the eccentric, loveable Auntie Mame, which, of course, is now one of the legendary films of the '50s. She was phenomenal in that. (Lucille Ball should never have even attempted that role.) It became Russell's the moment she performed it on Broadway, and when she also was the lead in the film version, her legacy was secured.

THIS is family TV at it's best!!
We get to view all sorts of people: entertainers, writers, musicians, etc.
    WHY can't TV do better?
----> because we've been dumbed down.
I miss old school programs like this. Entertainment and education with real talent.
Our whole family (including my Grandpa and Granma) sat together to watch this show, Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, etc., and enjoyed real talent, not the dazzle of computer generated special effects.
I hope viewers who like this check out Saturday night Film Noir with Eddie Muller on Turner Classic Movies.
My 96 year old mom loves the information provided by the host before and after every movie. We both appreciate what we learn. It is a relief to turn away from the news of today and focus on something positive.
Often, the films are adapted from a novel and make very good reading.
