As a plasterer gotta say amazing job? But future reference, when sticking beads on monocouche, always do a continues dab not just here and there! Otherwise its a cracking job
You did fantastically well doing that job single handedly, the end result looks great and accredit to your endeavours. Admire it with pride and the satisfying sense of achievement of a job well done.👍
For a first attempt it looks amazing. I've seen some "professional" jobs look worse. But I am very similar in my self criticism, I've started making things in leather, mostly for myself, but some work colleagues have asked for some things, which I made, and instead of taking the compliments of how well I made it, I pointed out its little flaws, which no-one but me saw.
Don't think you're giving yourself enough credit mate, you're being too hard on yourself. I'm a plasterer of 20 years and I have to say, for a first try... that's a very good job! Not mind for a first try that's a better job than a lot of plasterers I've seen leave. You should be very proud of that job mate it looks great! Fair play to you for giving it a go, most people are afraid to give it a go. Very easy to go wrong and then would be a disaster to get fixed, would cost more than If you got a pro in the first place!! Well done mate great job!!!👍👍
Brilliant especially as it wasn't machine applied... you can still include or install your very own under window sill by creating it with a different coloured material, similar colour to the stone required and trowel it on and create it, as its the same material as the rendering it'll all stick together.... you've given me the incentive and inspiration to finally rerender my shed which over 30 years ago I rendered in sand and cement in a brick effect, unfortunately over the past 30 years its shown that s&c is just too brittle.... the product you've used is perfect.... thank you for your inspiration and incentive. Great job.
I've recently had a house rendered by a professional company, and I am very pleased. But all in I would say you have do a far thorough job. Top job, exalent video 👍
This type of rendering is very common over here in france, same products, tools etc. Fair play doing this on your ownsome! The contractors over here use a super wide screeding float once they've ruled it off to get it really flat, gets rid of any small divets, bumps, imperfections etc, makes the scatching up stage much easier. Your finished results look good and enjoyed your videos
Fantastic Job Tim!, Your work ethic is admirable and you are always courageous enough to have a go and to show us the low's as well as the highs. Well done mate!
Well done mate. You have done well for first timer. Not many people are willing to step in, take it upon themselves, including the stress from the unknown, and finish it to this standard.
Good job. Just a tip as I use this product quite a lot being a plasterer/renderer. You should have embedded the mesh using the base coat render, then there is less time messing about doing it with the Monocouche. Then just put one big thick coat of the mono on, flatten it in, bar it off and then finally scratch it to finish. Then no worrying about thicknesses. And yes beading up after doing the case coat is the best method.
Another great video. Quite enjoyed the reflection section as well as the rough costing addition. BTW... The tea bag in the MUG is a great little touch. Thanks!
I’m planning on finishing my new garden wall in render this summer, so this video will be very useful. If it turns out looking half as good as your garage I’ll be well chuffed. 👍
I rendered my self-built extension with sand and cement and it is dreadful. Started off with a small section which went quite well and gave false confidence. Even with soaking the blocks and using a plasticiser, the render became unworkable very quickly. Using a pre-mix will take the variability of a DIY mix out so would recommend that. Given it is time-sensitive, rendering large areas is definitely a two-person job.
Great video outlining all the bad that can happen, u have made my mind up that I will leave my house to the professionals, I'm like u I can do a lot but sometimes the materials u have to work with are just not forgiving enough. Thanks for the vid great info regarding the beading against the window something I never thought of.
The work you have done and your achievement as a first time regardless of your assessment of what could have been done is in my opinion very skilful and a pleasure to view- thanks for sharing it
You've done a great job! Don't be too critical! You should be pleased with your effort! Just a couple of bits of advice for you and your followers... You can use tile adhesive to affix your plastic levels and finishing strips, it's cheaper than using the render. Timing - Thumb and fingernail test is key. In hotter climates, you can't leave until the next day to rake! if you have 'holes' simply grab a handful of the rub that falls down when you rake the surface and force it back in, once dried, rake again. Finally, when you have finished, use a soft bristle brush and brush it all down... this will remove any excess loose product and allow you to see the overall finish. Just a couple of tips from my own mistakes (I am not a seasoned pro!) Hope it helps
Well done. Cracking job, Tim. What sets you out above so many others is that you do your homework. Really impressive stuff(and judging from your self-effacing smile, you're quite rightly proud of yourself too!)
That’s a brilliant job for most renderers I know, for a DIY it’s amazing. When you do a panel tho try to only stop at a bead or somewhere you won’t see. When you stopped above that door I could feel my toes curling, surely you can see that joint? You could hide it with an outside light or small porch roof but it’s so easily avoidable
04:53 Her - Bobble hat, shirt, jumper, winter coat, overalls. Him Jean & t-shirt. 🤣 Nice job and now I feel like I could probably take on a job like that too.
Laudable that your such a perfectionist and wanted to do a "better job". But really its great and affordable. and you showed someone like me it can be done...thats your gift to your followers ...i.e I can so you can! thankyou!
Its not that good. He's got ghosting and pitting. He's done rendering before for sure. I think he's just new to monocouche. Like yourselves I don't like it. Soffit first is a must. Its fun to do if you get the timing right. In the summer, big panels, not so much
Good effort Tim and a great finish for your first go. There’s not a lot I won’t attempt but my last house was rendered in exactly the same stuff and I bit the bullet and got the professionals in. You probably know the spray method gives a bit of a thicker covering but the finish is just the same as you’ve achieved. One of the biggest jobs is the clean up afterwards 😬😬
Wouldn't worry too much about staining, I've had the Weber on the front of mine a few years now with rain and all sorts washing down it without any real signs of staining.
If this is your first attempt at rendering, I think you did a reasonable job...and of course, you could always paint it...lol... My next door neighbour had this done a couple of years ago, to his extended three bed semi, the lot...except the tile-hung bay at the front, by his wife’s cousin (in the trade), and it took him almost two weeks to complete it. It looked fine, but last year started to stain under the windows...he tried jet washing, but it didn’t really remove the stains, so if I was you I would definitely seal it...my neighbour didn’t, and now has stains that don’t seem to want to come clean...
Yep, it’s pretty forgiving! 👍 the second half of the wall i didn’t trowel of half as flat and just knock it off the next day with the bar. It’s cheating but it worked!
I've been waiting for a while to see how you did this. We have a crazy paving wall, that has to come off, so finnish underneith is going to be bad. I have done sand and cement and pabble dash. but think oit is time to give the monocouche render a go. Thank you for sharing
As a full time renderer this was pretty hard to watch but I admire your perseverance! Not a bad effort for a first go. Your right about spraying too. We spray everything and it's so much easier. Also £1200 was a good price. I would have been £1500 :)
hey well done i followed you on all your projects and you've completed that on your own be proud. that's why people subscribe to you keep it up mate good luck to you and your family.
That is a massive transformation....and all that money you saved....you can treat yourself to a new tool and something for Jo in her craft room. Surely 😜🤣🤣well done👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
Another great video Tim, seriously is there nothing that you can’t do, very inspirational. You mentioned about painting your UPVC windows, will you be doing a video on that ? Keep up the good work 👍👍
Love this finish,I worked for a plasterer and we done a few big farmhouses with this and on one job we had 18 bags left over so I done my garage walls (internal) 14yrs ago and they still look good as new.
Fantastic job, saw monocouche done on my commercial building about 25 years ago where they also used polystyrene insulation against the brickwork and then the mesh then coating, watching this has given me the confidence to do this at home, thanks very much, how has it weathered since it was done?
first time dude you did a great job.
Fab job Tim, you're a brave man, for giving this a go single handed and will surely inspire others to do the same. Looks great from here😁👍
As a plasterer gotta say amazing job? But future reference, when sticking beads on monocouche, always do a continues dab not just here and there! Otherwise its a cracking job

That’s an epic job and a fantastic finish considering it’s the first time you’ve attempted it. Hugely impressed Tim 👌🏼🏴👍🏼
For a first attempt it looks amazing. I've seen some "professional" jobs look worse.

Tim, please take it from us... That is a bloody great job!
“Hindsight with Tim” would make a great series on its own 😅
It would be endless!
Don't forget Belts and Bracers.🤣
Great job Tim - if staining becomes an issue I recommend ‘wet and forget’. It works very slowly but effectively.
Very impressive for a first attempt 👏

Looks miles better!
Wasn’t hard to improve on that wall!
Brother, you will see for yourself that there's a mishmash of materials.A time to rebuild the glory that can't be seen. Good luck.

I opine you have super energy levels. Absolutely brilliant.

Hard work off a ladder. Well done
Wicked finish mate. Top marks…
Another great video. Quite enjoyed the reflection section as well as the rough costing addition.
BTW... The tea bag in the MUG is a great little touch. Thanks!
Looks great , Its popular here in Canada but with our weather we end up painting it about every 10 years . Love your work ,
Incredible result ~ absolutely stunning!
I’m planning on finishing my new garden wall in render this summer, so this video will be very useful. If it turns out looking half as good as your garage I’ll be well chuffed. 👍
Nice job, well done and keep up the good work.
Nice finish on that. 👌
Looking forward to this!
Top job mate.
What a huge difference! Impressive!
Super nice work.
Bloody good job mate , from a plasterer 👌
You've done a stunning job looks spot on 👌👍

Waterproofer in youre scratch coat for s&c mate . Wouldav given you the time you needed to work it
Dang!!! Wow, it looks so much better, transformational!
A very honest appraisal Tim though I think you are a bit tough on yourself... it looks great and works really well against the stonework 😎👍

Great job rendering is a skill in its self and by yourself is graft hats off to you
I think the result is great, I had no idea about this type of render. It seems a bit more forgiving than the more traditional sand and cement!
That’s great for a first attempt!
Well done. Cracking job, Tim. What sets you out above so many others is that you do your homework. Really impressive stuff(and judging from your self-effacing smile, you're quite rightly proud of yourself too!)

Looks like a damn good job to me mate, well done.
Looks great Tim. Well done!
You can add insulation under the render I believe. Which helps with insulation and also stabilises wall from movement
well after watching that I'm gonna have a go myself, cracking job.
Looking good Tim. Job well done!
Nice first job well done....Good to hear the pros and cons also 👍
04:53 Her - Bobble hat, shirt, jumper, winter coat, overalls. Him Jean & t-shirt. 🤣
Nice job and now I feel like I could probably take on a job like that too.
That's a far better finish than the 'professional' firm that did my render. Top job. 👍
You’ve pretty much just convinced me to pay somebody to do my house. No way do I have the time and patience for this.
Like you could if you had the time!🤣 i remember that bit of a wall you built that time🤣
Great effort!
Laudable that your such a perfectionist and wanted to do a "better job". But really its great and affordable. and you showed someone like me it can be done...thats your gift to your followers ...i.e I can so you can! thankyou!
Love it great job also love the scratching up part
Weber, so much better than k rend. You've made a good job, don't be so hard on yourself
I think you are on the same restoration journey as me but fortunately you are 6 months ahead of me. Thanks
Looks great, such a massive improvement. Also, like the retrospective look at how you'd do it differently. Top work!
Looks brilliant !
It looks beautiful
Good job, it is fun to do

Nice job. Thanks for the video.
Great job done there Tim...for a first attempt I’d say you’ve probably done a better job than some of the so called professionals..
Great job!!! well done :)
You can fill in any holes with the half cured dust that falls off from scraping, just push some in firmly then gently run the scratcher or it.
If this is your first attempt at rendering, I think you did a reasonable job...and of course, you could always paint it...lol... Looks awesome!
Looks good, that scratch coat finish makes a novice look a pro 🔥🔫

Turned out well 👌👌👌👌
Awesome video Tim, I really needed this to start my own project over in Sweden!
Thanks for all the great videos✨
