Making A Circular Protractor For Homemade Lathe Milling Attachment Compound Slider
New projects homemade lathes bed (second lathe)
Hello TH-camr, today I’m glad to share my new second homemade lathes.
I do happy to make a bigger size because my first lathe the size is a bit small, when milling a big plate of thick metal is not easy because the length is not enough space to milling than the plate metal I used is thin most are 10 mm thick.
So I decided to make a new lathe bigger than the previous lathe. Now there is enough experience to make a new lathe also.
I hope you all enjoying my new lathe from part 1.

very good. I can hear the thunder from the gods. Did you get any hydraulic oil to keep your equipment from rusting and wearing down?

Many thanks I appreciated for your explanation. Hard work to make these because I don’t have any professional machine my in my shop all by hand I do have welder, small drill grind engle cut to make some machines and tools. In this time I have to build everything encourage is the best. I think see too slow but will try my best.
Oh you good idea let me know what kind of Hydraulic for protection? I never know and do you have name brand?
After the sundered heavy rain and windy and lightning too after rain some trees and banners failed and killed a few people too
      Thanks again 🙏

@@mr.ranyhomemade2466 you don't need a name brand you just need something like a 0w-20 weight or 68 hydraulic oil. Most hydraulic oils are the same and they are way better than motor oil.

0w - 20 weight or 68 hydraulic oil I’m not sure how can I found here or not.

This is interesting to see, how you create something with what you have.. 😊 The idea is DIY simple, the only problem was you didn't have a spindle lock and it was moving a bit while cutting, otherwise it would be awesome precise for a homemade shop with little tools inventory. Otherwise, you can make a very simple degree caliber at home like this:
    1. you cut and turn a disc of 229,2 mm diameter (equals to 720mm fi, which doubles your precision)
    2. you attach on the external border a flexible measuring tape of 720mm to circumference
    3. each 2 milimeters on the scale is one degree, which makes you able to scribe (engrave) to a half degree precision
    4. don't forget some fixture to lock the spindle while scribing.. 😏
Also to facilitate your work, you can scribe with the cutter from the edge inwards, checking easier your depth for 5 and 10 divisions.. At the end you sand it lightly to remove the burrs, clean it, smear some blask paint over the engraving, leave it to dry, sand it lightly again and you will have black engraving on shiny metal. 🙂 Keep on!

I've also seen it done with an old cam belt from car engine.
You can count out the 'teeth ' and use a circle cut from old piece of furniture, (chip board) plywood, etc.
Put cam belt so teeth are on 'outside' and drop a shaped piece of wood in to lock things in place (with some sort of hinge so it is always same location on head stock)

If your carriage would have been able to travel across the entire face of your chuck you could have done perfectly perpendicular cuts across your gauge. One degree then all the way across to the opposite degree in one pass

Thanks for your best time to watch I do hope you enjoyed. I’m not sure how long. I haven’t enough equipment to build it very difficult looking for, otherwise everything I did mostly by hand, for the video you seen are looking okay but behind the scenes very hard work because I don’t have tools as much.
      Thanks I appreciated your asked

good job it would be good if you had a way to lock your chuck when marking it after the lathe, a milling machine then a surface grinder then you can make anything you want.
