@@BigJayDogAdventures There are quite a lot of decent sized buildings in the process of rising now, and if WIN Grand gets the go ahead Wollongong CBD is going to be no joke, especially when density is considered. The one thing that stops Wollongong from having a really bloody decent CBD is that the city itself is so spread out, the greater Wollongong area is pretty huge due to the thin bit of land between the sea and Illawarra escarpment that contain it causing it to be very long.
I’m an Architect/Interior Designer & will be migrating to Australia soon in New South Wales. But I can’t decide which regional area to choose between Wollongong or Newcastle? Any points to consider? Would appreciate all your comments & suggestions.
Newcastle has more jobs so I'd say Newcastle unless you're cool with traveling 1 hour to Sydney and 1 hour back where there's loads of jobs for your profession then Wollongong would be better for sure
Wollongong is more family friendly as well as a lot friendlier community feel about it. It also seems to be a lot cleaner since last time I was there, also wins my vote for anyone keen on spending time outdoors in nature and natural environments. I'm back in Newcastle now but it always has a grubby appearance we can't seem to get rid of even with BHP closed down, probably all the coal dust from the port coal loader I guess. But if I had the choice and had to pick one to live permanently, Wollongong would be my family's choice. And all just say agreed, so there you have it, the family is never wrong.

Most enjoyful moment today, thanks a lot.

I grew up in Austinmer north of Wollongong but to be fair, the best beaches are north of the city. I’ve always been fond of the area.
Beautiful wollungong👌👌👍✝️ Love Frome India.
Nice video! although I wouldn't call it a beach town, Wollongong is the 11th biggest city in Australia with over 300k population.

Would you ever consider going as far south as Nowra or Jervis Bay?
Yes one day

Lots of residential towers
When you have over 300,000 people living in an area you need some residential towers.
But the actual cbd is a few kilometres inland.
@@shermanator87 I was just comparing it to Newcastle which has 500,000 but fewer towers and more flats and small apartments
The Illawarra has well over 500,000. Now you'll say the Hunter region has even more. Which they do.
@@bnb3394 Yeah since Wollongong has less land, although Newcastle is definitely trying to catch up now
Shasmefully low rooftop solar installation here.
