I have the exact same clock now. Daddy bought it as a kit and put it together in a friend’s garage. It was a Christmas present for my mom. You could order the movement with or without a moon dial. Black walnut case. That was back in about 1960. Still runs and keeps excellent time. The sad thing is, I have no one to pass it on to. Oh well.
I used an emporer clock movement 42 years ago in high-school shop class. Still runs to this day. Just made 2 clocks with same movements for my daughters for Christmas Hope they get the same pleasure I have
Thank you for this.. we just bought this exact clock from an estate sale and it was moved to our home by neanderthals... I was so worried....thanks to your tutorial I was able to put it back together and it is working beautifully.... ~~ Love from Lakeside.... Phoebe
Wrong .. The case was made in the US and was a hobby style clock that you would assemble yourself. From the 70’s.. The clock movement is Hermle though and is German.
I bought an Emperor clock movement (Emperor 100M Replacement Movement Kit (@/209)) and built a Grandfather Clock Case from scratch and installed the movement. I built it for my daughter in 2006 and it looks & sounds great in her home. There is a small engraved plate with my name and the date inside the front door. My hope is it will be passed down to one of her children and ultimately to their children's children. I left the drawings I had created, while designing the case, in the base of the cabinet and attached a horseshoe (open side up for good luck) in the top portion of the clock behind the movement. One day maybe a great, great grandchild will discover it and think back to their great, great grandfather in the old timey days of the early 2000's. I wish I had something one of my grandfathers had made that was passed down, but alas, no. However, I get a special feeling every time I hear the ticking when visiting my daughter, son-in-law & grandchildren.
Just picked one of these from the family that inherited it from one of the parents of the couple. A year ago they wanted $500. Then the chain weight was pulled too far so the sold it for $25. Just finished rehanging the chain and am now wanting to know which weight goes where.
Hi Dirk. How do I set my times to chime every 15 minuets and on the Hour ? I just bought a clock similar to yours. It does chime on the quarter past, half past and quarter too. But mot on the Hour.
I have an Emperor Clock with the 100M movement. It was new old stock from a guy who never installed it into a clock. Got the clock portion running fine. The chimes strike on the hour, 15 past, 27mins past and 30 mins past. At 45 past you do hear the click but it doesn’t chime? The 27 past is weird. Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated

I just inherited this clock. Really beautiful. Brings back memories of Thanksgiving Dinners and Christmas at my Grandmother's house. 🙂

I believe the heaviest weight goes on the right an the other 2 weights can go on either side either the left or the middle
Lightest weight on the left, heaviest weight in the middle, and medium/heavy weight on the right. Orientation is looking at the clock head on.

That Bb hammer needs to be adjusted; sounds way too tinny and out of place.
We have this type clock but with the clock mechanism. Wire connected to the clock mechanism but one wire not connected to anything. Any suggestions
