Farrell con el soprano tenía un estilo completamente distinto a Henderson, Lo podemos escuchar con Billy Cobham o en Friends con Chic Corea, también en su propio album Great George.
Wynell Montgomery: I second your observation. I adore and admire Joe and Mike as well as Randy and Freddie - seeing them together, in video, for the first time. What purity in musical brotherhood and comradery!
How about a Big shout out for Alphonso Johnson hauling the mail.. as tall as he his, aren't we lucky he didn't end on a Top Basketball franchise. He is one bad Mamma Jamma...@@wyndhleodumegwu253
Jazz royalty right here. I about got up and left the room when AJ took a bass solo. Too cool...too groovy. About to share this with my son, who, like me, is a tenor player also. Rest in Heaven Michael, Joe H., Joe F., Freddie and George. Miss you guys much. 🙏🏽🙌🏾🎵🎶🎼🎷🎺🎹
Speaking of Freddie and reactions, on the Sony videotap series from the 80s or 90s at The Blue Note, there's one with Freddie, Herbie Hancock, and a couple of other jazz greats I don't currently remember, but during Herbie's solo (I believe on Canteloupe Island), he steps out a bit and Freddie's reaction is CLASSIC.
He's not playing out of key, if you mean it in the sense of a clunker. Mike looks over at Randy because Freddie is playing a "patented" Randy Brecker riff on the chords. It's admiration and something of an inside joke.
The guy in the video looked so unlike RF I assumed wrongly that it wasn’t him. I didn’t check the credits or wait until the end. My mistake. Not a hanging offence hopefully.
I know what you mean. I didn’t think it looked or particularly sounded like him. At the very end Joe Farrel introduces the band and says it is Robben Ford on guitar.
Joe Henderson criticized Michael Brecker later in his life for copying his sound, but Joe Farrell does a respectable Dexter Gordon imitation here. They all sound great though.
@@alexts94 I agree. And Mike admitted so many times to the great influence Henderson had on his playing, yet Joe was still salty toward him for some reason saying he’s nothing but a copycat
Wow talk about an all star band ! How I never heard of this concert ??? Absolutely wonderful

Somehow Freddie Hubbard could just play one screaming note for his turn on a trade four and make it sound good. An absolute legend.
Joe Henderson’s opening solo is so great, all the soloists are really. What a line up!
Henderson’s influence on both Joe Farrell and Mike Brecker quite evident here.

Holy smokes, what a lineup!
Wow - never saw Joe and Mike together before not to mention both Freddie and Randy also - much love for Joe Farrell great stuff from all involved!

I believe Joe and the Brecker Brothers are on Parliament's Mothership Connection
Joe Farrell that is

Right on, Brother. This is Jazz Royalty. AJ's bass playing is Dreamsville to these old ears.
What a feast! Love Joe Farrell’s solo the most
Joe Henderson is my favorite solo in this line up
After what Mike played, Joe Farrell's solo was perfect.
Joe showing why he’s one of the most important tenor plays to ever pick up the instrument.
which Joe?
I’m guessing Henderson
Both
Wow. all of giants were there. Also japanese people love to listen jazz and their positive energy make the players monster.
LOL; Michael's reaction when Freddie plays out of the key at 2:44. Love it!
Freddie took it all TF out. That's an incredible lick it goes so far out so fast, it's blinding

@@stevesalerno4953 Well Randy got it from Hub first but yeah LOL.
@@stevesalerno4953 Right after that lick he does the Cannonball Adderly trill, on trumpet. Wish they would have caught Michael's reaction to that too.
Holy smokes..Gotta love that Mark VI..:-) What a lineup.. The best of the best..(Clapping...)
Mike wasn’t phased at all by this lineup. He’s so confident.
Now, why would he? He´s the GOAT!
@@hjs5686Are you not hearing how evident Henderson’s influence is on Brecker here (and Joe F)? I guarantee you - Mike was humbled by that debt.
Michael Brecker shines!
When Duke switches to the electric piano, magic happens. And Freddie at @2:43 one of my favorite moments in all of YT
Maximum respect for these guys
..three tenors who are so blazing and completely different...Robben, Alphonso, George..everybody checks in with honest testimony..vibes
OMG George on that transparant plexiglass Rhodes piano!
Now, that was a performance...awesome crowd!!!
THANK YOU for this beautiful opportunity!! Thanks for posting!
tremendo Joe Henderson..siempre diferente...el resto bien..cumplen

Randy's trumpet solo was lovely... So relaxed ....

WOW!!!
Rest in Peace, Alphonso...
He's very much alive! Jeez.
Rest in Peace: Freddie Hubbard, Michael Brecker, Joe Farrell, Joe Henderson and George Duke. :-(
amazing players. Scary to think Both Brecker and Farrell would be so sadly lost to the same disease.
Killing!
Duke!
Where can we find more of Robben Ford playing stuff like this? :D
This guy is easily on a par with RF if not better. I don’t know who he is.
Maybe it is RF?!??
The guy in the video looked so unlike RF I assumed wrongly that it wasn’t him. I didn’t check the credits or wait until the end. My mistake. Not a hanging offence hopefully.

at 3:22 in this video, his lines remind me of his song "Nothing Personal" at minute 3:20, very very similar
All star cast
Holy Joe!
joe and mike ripping
Holy shit! WOWWWW!!!!!!
That was Robben Ford on Guitar
Lookin' like Joe Namath here... lol Anyway, you can see why Miles Davis hired him.
I know what you mean. I didn’t think it looked or particularly sounded like him. At the very end Joe Farrel introduces the band and says it is Robben Ford on guitar.

Great band, great soli, swings like crazy, why does everyone have to fill in on the last chord? sounds kind of messy.
Fucking insane!

Joe Henderson is way above the others!
Right on !!!

@@dylankubilus1422 I heard that. Truly saddening. Some cats can't get the competition out of them I guess lol
Alphonso Johnson should have played the double bass...
Good God, how godawfully UNinteresting can you get!!!
