1999. The internet was new and we saw a new world emerging. It was the early days when we shared great things like this. I sat with my father and watched this concert real time in Athens Georgia. Now it seems trivial, but at the time, it was revolutionary. Who could have envisioned the positive and negative effects this technology would have on our society?
Had to come back. That piano player is absolutely awsome!! The drummer and bass player were awsome. Great band of powerful players. I salute you all!!!
Powerhouse Rhythm section, Brecker at the top of his game, thanks for sharing. PS: Joey is not only a great player, but also a very fine writer, his two songs here 'El Niño' and 'Cat's Cradle' are really beautiful.
This one of my favourite Michael Brecker lineups. Around the time this concert took place there were some terrific studio albums coming out but seeing the great Brecker in the flesh was something else. If you were lucky enough to be close to the stage it was like experiencing a force of nature when he was soloing. A most welcome upload-thank you!
The name of this song is "Slings and Arrows." It's on Joey's self-titled album, one of the best jazz albums in my collection. Great, live version of the cut here, with Joey and Michael blazing.
PQP -- fire, grace and exeptional musicianship of the whole crew! I listened to this several times; everytime I was paying attention to a specific musician and his role with the other guys. Last time I was quite impressed with James Genus work on Slings and Arrows -- what a driving and cohesion power on his walking bass!
amazing band !!! Brecker is one of the most interesting saxophonits and Calderazzo's vibes give me amazing emotions, thank you for this beautiful moment. This rythm section is fabulous :)))))))))
Probablemente el mejor jazz acústico que he escuchado, por lo menos para mi gusto, no se podía esperar menos de un proyecto encabezado por mi sax tenorista favorito de todos los tiempos.Genus, Calderazzo y Tain Watts excelsos. Gracias por compartir.
Calderazzo is a god. Calderazzo Slings solo here, should be put on the next Space traveller Capsule. So if it finally reaches other forms of intelligence, they can appreciate what human earth music expression was capable off. As far as jazz zenith. Improvisation representation doesn't get better than this.
Brecker's face expression during Calderazzo' s solo... Priceless !
He was basicly his mentor. Close to a father. Brecker was really proud of Joey.
Fabulous musicians! Joey Calderazzo is incredibly underrated.
What a band….. Sheeeesh! So awesome
Calderazzo is absolutely insane in this, check the first 10 minutes....literally crazy
+Pvt Boogerit is huge it's a Martian, as was undoubtedly his master Mac tiner coy, it makes me nervous and gives me so much happiness.
+Loic Lelandais Yeah he sounds a lot like Mc Coy Tyner actually..
Yep, Calderazzo is pretty much Tyner + Hancock.
Yes crary solo.....
Calderazzo is, in its own right, a greater god. He sounds like Calderazzo, heir of all but with a place in the Olympus.

Joey is the man
Two words describe the first tune: GOD DAMN!!! I think they burned even more than they thought possible.
Tain Watts is a Genus
genus 1 to be precise, homeomorphic to the torus
I was lucky enough, at Bracknell 87. The place went wild.
L'incredibile è che loro stessi non credono alle proprie orecchie, l'uno sorprende l'altro...stratosferici !!!
My last words before the take off without wings :) This is wonderfulll ! The time they've been playing, we were all in the air 🙂 Thanks for sharing 🙏

Joey Calderazzo beast solo: 5:33
What’s the name of the first song? Anyone?
What is the name of the piece in the beginning of the video?
Calderazzo is a god. Calderazzo Slings solo here, should be put on the next Space traveller Capsule. So if it finally reaches other forms of intelligence, they can appreciate what human earth music expression was capable off. As far as jazz zenith. Improvisation representation doesn't get better than this.
Calderazzo He's a genius !
I thought they went in a time machine back to the 1950's and put the snatch on Horace Silver so he could play this gig...
💿💿💿💿
Khe Bergas fue la escena del final?
“Sungs and Arrows” ?!?!
what's the first theme name?
'Slings And Arrows'. It's the opening track of Brecker's now classic 1996 release 'Tales From The Hudson'.
I wouldn't have stopped clapping.
