Which back's up everything you said about demand still there
Reasons not to buy a land Rover? My mechanic screamed at me not to buy one, then he changed his mind and wanted me to buy one as he wanted to fund a house purchase in Spain!!
I’ve had little trouble with mine since I bought it,but the customer service isn’t very good when you do have an issue, takes them ages to sort a part or find a solution to the problem.
I phoned my mechanic JLR and he immediately said to me the familiar sentence to do with a "bargepole" 😂
The car sits with the dealers then more on your drive soon as you come to start it it seems to have some problems
I live just outside London, got quotes £8,500 for my Range Rover renewal. Sold the car and brought a Cayenne instead 👌🏼 Drives better tbf
My insurance doubled on mine and they reduced the value by half total rip off by insurance companies I live in east Yorkshire a rural village and do not commute to any city but still love my range rover 😊
Worst car ever made. Land Rover build quality is shocking.
I had Honda Crv ...then I bought a JLR product....OMG the build quality was terrible...the A pillar trim literally fell off when fitting the dashcam wiring ..had the car 2 weeks and hated in ..px it for an Audi a6 , after a Q7 and now A7 ..I'm converted to Audi...I really like the look of RR sports but i cannot justify having to put money aside for when it will definitely break
So it is.
Only ever since TATA bought it still even before it wasn’t as reliable but quality was better before they took over
Dripping roast comes to mind
I reckon Citroens are worse
Better to ship the car overseas and sell in a country where it can be reasonably insured.
Ghost alarm and pouch is a must for any keyless entry
I want one, but the insurance puts me off big time
You're a bit late to the party - this is old news from like the summer about their prices plummeting
Why £21,094?
Had to forcefully sell mine because my insurance went from £1,600 to £20,000
Where do you live
@@derekporter66 Beirut 😂
One factor thats not mentioned, regarding the increasing theft is some are nicked to break for spares. There has been a shortage of parts since covid.
And who's fault was that ?
@bigal2417 He didn't say it was anyone's fault just making a point 👍
If you go online and search land rover parts issues, you’ll see loads of info, they setting up some new warehouse which has caused further backlogs/ etc
If this was the case.... fast fords like fiesta st would be cheap as chips most stolen cars in uk 🤷♂️
The main point being they are crap.
at 90,000 miles this thing is going to be a money pit. They are not built to last and cost a fortune in constantly failing parts
Not just dropping like a brick but getting close to uninsurable.
It's funny since you can block the key signal with litteraly anything metal, even an altoids tin. So for £1 you can get a bunch of mints and a safe for your £100k brick of range rover getting stolen and yet its such a common problem.
Apparently you can cut a very small square out of the boot lid and steal it like that, no need for key signal
I saw that the key pulses the whole time, so they follow you for one supermarket trip, and it’s goodbye.
There's horror stories out there of people getting insurance quotes of over £25,000 for various Land Rover vehicles. That's absolutely terrifying. The modern day Range Rover is fast becoming like the GTi of the late 80s and early 90s. My father once got a quote of £21,000 to insure an Escort Cosworth in the early 90s. The car was worth £18,000 at the time. He ended up trading it in against a Porsche 911 (964) because it was cheaper to insure. Hundreds, rather than tens of thousands.
I know a guy who has a range rover sport and it costs more to insure than his Lamborghini Aventador 😂😂but water off a ducks back for him tbh he still pays it
You guys live in another world, I got quoted £28k for a 2005 BMW 120d. My first year was 2.8k and I was happy with that. Older drivers don't realise how lucky they were with insurance prices back in the 80-90s.
I checked whether this was true and got a quote
Client bought a 2021 Vogue in April last year for £85k. Last week was valued at £40k 🤢🤮
No matter how wealthy you are, that's gotta hurt
That’s crazy it’s dropped by more than 50%! Wow
85k for a year old Vogue LOL deserves everything they get
@Luckyjo21 in my opinion the 21 shape is better than the current one.
That much?
They are a shed on wheels and remind me of the shop range and a dog called rover so I dont like them
Not surprised with the sketchy reliability, thefts, and high running costs of them that values are down. They are sold for peanuts at auctions too. Owning a car which loses you money and scared to leave on your driveway, must be great lol.
I could not agree more.
You want a car to work when you need it too.
Why do people tolerate this ineptitude from JLR? It's insane?
Evoque, Jaguar, Velar, Range rover, Epace, Fpace.....all complete shite.
To add insult to injury, it empties your wallet faster than a pick-pocketing hooker.
PLEASE STOP BUYING THIS CRAP.
@@bobmartin5101 it’s just a status thing, if someone has it, it’s a copy cat and domino effect. The Evoque does nothing a normal hatchback can do yet costs way more and looks hideous.
You feel a certain way driving range rovers, it’s always been the go to car for wealthy people to daily without drawing as much attention as you would in a Rolls Royce for example. As for the car itself, you do get a premium feeling, they look better than everything else in its class.
I don't know about peanuts mate?
@@bobmartin5101just shows once youve built a reputation people will keep buying no matter how shit the product gets, they are willing to get burnt many times before they even consider a different brand, its like the Iphone affect, doesnt matter how good the competition is people will just buy it because of the name
i put my keys in my wifes box ,no one is going in there its fish ,
The ‘underlying’ issue with R/R is availability of parts. R/R’s are being stolen, chopped up and shipped to countries where parts for R/R are scarce, let alone affordable. Much cheaper and profitable, for organised crime to steal these cars and ship abroad. I forecast R/R prices continue to fall until new security & tracking installed, as well as faster acting dedicated police. Just my opinion.
The best way to stop one getting stolen, don’t buy one in the first place.👍
Best way to not be homeless is to just buy a house......I'm just using your logic.
poor analogy, no comparison in the two statements "facepalm"@@miamitten1123
@@miamitten1123 not all homes are heaps of shit like these
Totally agree.
Indian JLR products are total junk. Why does anyone living in and around London need a boat anchor of a 4x4 anyway??
The stigma of ownership is enough😅
I knew a gang that sold fake faraday pouches on eBay that have no affect, so the theives know the buyers address, and know they have a non-functioning faraday pouch, quite clever really
Who are they
@@haider7866 Dunno, made it up, but would be a great idea
@@123MondayTuesdayso you didn’t know a gang then? You fucking whopper
Not just the theft problem Calvin, they're unreliable and expensive to repair. A lot of people that can now afford them due to their price wouldn't actually be able to maintain and repair it. But they are awesome when they're working.
I was speaking to a guy not so long ago and he has an Range Rover svr and says it costs him more to insure than his McLaren 😂😂
Not that silly the range rover is going to be doing a lot more millage
2019 svr owner. JLR now laughing stock amongst uk car industry. They don't care about their customers, no respect, totally ignorant. A backlash is gathering momentum, bigger than I've ever observed before. JLR can be described as fallen asleep at the wheel! Communication below 3rd world standards. The CEO should be ashamed of himself, obviously in the wrong job, should immediately resign and become a MP, preferably in the cabinet team, should blend in perfectly!
Bought an SVR tried insure it in brum was uninsurable even tried dads name 50+ no accident claims points clean with max ncb best quote was 18k ended up selling at loss as range prices are just dropping so badly
If they could improve the reliability these things would sell like crazy. They already do, but even more people would buy. The design is incredible. Some of the modern Jaguars have proven to be quite reliable. Not sure why they can’t reproduce that with these.
*New Subscriber* : That was great ! Very engaging ( you're a natural talking to a camera ). Looking forward to catching more of your videos. A you're the first I've seen who actually show how you can turn off the keyless entry on a car. All the best and greetings from prague, CZ
Welcome sir and thank you 🙏🏼
The whole used car market is plummeting, have you seen the Porsche taycans? £130k new and now sub 50k 💀
Haha yep apparently to drop to 40k soon
Electric cars are a whole different story.
Yea that’s really sad to see. Nobody can afford to lose this much money on an asset. I hope Taycans can recover from it 🤞
Calvin your weeks behind everyone elses 1200 rangerovers stolen last week ,britain has gone mad no one will insure a range or land rover now ,the quote was £6000 for my L322 LAST MONTH .Its going next week .mY bmw E38 740I ,Just insured it 12 months fully comp with Adrian flux £595 ,for the year all done .
Did you shop around? My L322 was insured with Adrian Flux, was £480 but renewal offer was over £1k. Now with Aviva it was £400 including breakdown cover. My Defender with a 480hp LS is with AF too, went from £300 down to £114… I was shocked, all gone mad! Both done in last couple months
@@AlexLR i am the master of shopping around my E38 740i is £500 a year fully comp my daily driver .
I bought one in May and today its lost 22k in value. Aboslutely gutted!
😢 ouuufff
buy a land cruiser V8 D-4D next time, mines has went up 2k
I do like the RR sport & full fat, I wouldn't touch the 3.0 Diesel with a barge pole due to the crank snapping issues (Same on D4), I would get the 5.0 V8 Petrol version, much more reliable. As for insurance I did a quote the other day and it was over £1300 for a 5.0 V8 RRS (not SVR) for me living in Wiltshire so not a big city ! for £500 less insurance I could get an Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. I own 2 Landrovers now, but I would get the Alfa..
The 2.0L Ingenium one goes pop regularly too.
5L petrol is nice, but a different world of fuel cost..
@@G-ra-ha-m Yup I run a Disco 3 4.4 V8 but on LPG so it's a bit cheaper but at least I know the oil pump won't fail or the crank snap.
@@trollmanrs After the first crank snap or Ingenium suicide out of warranty, fuel costs don't look so bad anyway :D
very true ! @@G-ra-ha-m
I have a 3.0 diesel Disco 4 with 80k, no trouble at all. Fantastic for wafting over broken and potholed country roads
Seeing all the stuff online about the engines terrifies me, I’d love to own though!
Loved my blacked out 2016 RR Sport (unfortunately only had the SDV6)! Didn't have any problems with it whatsoever. Just remember the oil change every 6-6.5k miles.
Not surprised 41k and the crank snapped and 9 gearbox faults in 18 months absolutely shite car .
Have a Disco with SDV6 never had a problem service it and get it checked. Most engines go I think because a lack of care and maintenance most of the time.
@@supradan666 is surprising with the gearbox. The zf box is used in BMW's and some vag stuff and is usually very reliable.
if it said peugeot on it with all the same parts youd hate it tho
For 20k it’s a lovely motor, private plate on there and will look bang up to date👍🏻
Massive difference between the facelift RR sport/Vogue and this
not massive lol you can add the facelift mods yourself @@KnowledgeSeeker999
Maybe people are tightening there belts
just talking rubbish. GET TO THE DAMN POINT MAN
There must be RR owners whose insurance expires next month and know resale values have tanked, who are desperately parking it in dodgy places with no CCTV hoping and praying it gets nicked.
you obviousley not had many range rovers if youve not had one go wrong on you there the most unreliable motor on the road
In answer to your question they’re going to RHD and central African countries - Kenya etc. there’s stolen RRs driving round Nairobi and Mombasa with just the Kenyan plate taped half over the UK one 😂. A few I’ve seen they’ve just chopped the front off to get the engine block - can fit more in a shipping container
The main problem with the key secure box is that if the thieves are determined to steal the car they will break into the house to steal the key which is scary.
Foe sure Range Rovers are lovely cars, they're getting stolen "cos" the people stealing them have found a way to get what they want without putting in the hard work. Cheers for another good vid.
Doesn't help JLR have brought the Parts Distribution side of the business to a standstill with its complete failure in reorganization of the supply side to dealers, Absolute Joke of a Company Unfortunately.
Great vid)))
Insurance premiums are not just increasing London and Manchester. Outside glasgow x3 from last year £ (not travelling to city centre)
I’ve had one Discovery 4 and three Discovery 5’s. Never had a problem and done 100K miles in each. Constant servicing at main dealers or reputable specialists helps I think. As soon as someone tries saving by taking to a shoddy garage and the cars don’t get the proper treatment they go wrong and never recover it seems. My experience with LR customer service has been brilliant.
So you’ve had 3 discovery 5s and done 100k in each that sounds like waffle to me
And you work for Landrover.
We use them nationwide hence the mileage. Generally running 2 at once. Never once let us down. Just my experience chaps and no I don’t work for Landrover.
Some people just don’t like facts and experiences like those.
Got a discovery 4 no issues in 5 years love it
I get the security tips, but if the thieves cant remote access the car they may choose to break into your house to get the keys. Think i would prefer them to just take the car and not put my family at risk of assault.
Folks I know had theirs lifted onto a low loader as it was parked on their st, directly in front of their house. They now have an X7 .
It doesn’t matter the devices you have , if a valuable car is in the street, then its easily nickable as far as crooks are concerned. They will find a way 😢
I go to Auctions probably 2/3 times a month , ive noticed cars not even making reserve lowest ive seen a 15 plate RR sport Autobiography with 85,000 miles.went for £13 grand this was at Manheim leeds about 2 weeks ago.
Can you pick me up a car? Willing to give you something for your time
Had a test drive in a RRS HSE SDV6. Fabulous drive, stunning inside. Came with a 2 year warranty. So put a £500 deposit down. Went home rang around for insurance and could not get insured. Was stunned, mid life bloke, full no claims. £500 deposit returned. Bought an RS4, fully comp £575. Mind bending.
How much were they quoting for insurance on the Sport?
£4.5K @@thejudderman8265
@@thejudderman8265I'm curious to know too!
@@shubobtv having thought about it I would imagine it wasn’t the price that meant he couldn’t get insured but insurance companies were just not insuring them full stop due to the amount of RRS thefts that are happening at the moment.
@thejudderman8265 hmm interesting point. Shame theft is so high by these low life thiefs.
Land Rover build quality is shocking. There vehicles are piss poor quality. Even over the last 5/10 years. There reliability and quality is shocking
It IS that bad. 6 got stolen in one night in my area including our velar.
Keyless entry was off and key was in a faraday pouch.
What they are doing now is following people and as you lock/unlock your car they hijack the signal and make their own key.
So they rock up with a ready made key these days.
Regarding a ghost I would prefer they take the car rather than someone be tempted to gain access to my house.
They also go in through the boot even with keyless disabled. My mate's Discovery was taken this way. Drilled through the boot where the tracker is, yanked out the wiring, climbed through, plugged into the OBD port for a minute to a code a new key, starter up and drove off. Took less than 2 minutes.
Nice looking motor that Calvin. Like the grey and black. Ive got a 2004 Vouge parked up in dry storage. Use it for towing and family holidays. Been great in this snow today. Quality vehicles if you look after them
The crankshaft issue can't be ignored
That’s the 3.0 that people max themselves on and then can’t afford the oil changes. The 4.4 with an every 5K flush no crankshaft issues. The 5.0 none at all. Just the timing chain. People buy them who can’t afford to maintain them. Not saying they’re reliable but that’s 50% of the problem.
small hybrid japanese petrol automatics 50mpg + are more desirable now and going up in value , these big uk/german diesel cars are for the scrapyard now
Poverty nation now
I've got a BMW 440i that I'm looking to trade in for an SUV.
The insurance quote for a 2016 RR vogue was £2800. (My 2018 440i is £650)

problem with ghost alarms traker etc is if the car is under warranty still landrover wont touch it if an electrical problem as my friend found out with his rangerover and and new defender
I will give you a cheaper option to the key box. Use a metal travel mug. Works exactly the same. I have tried it with a ford ranger a 3008 and a toyota hilux and you can put the key in the travel mug right next to car and still not get in.
That's a great idea !
We are back in the 70s or 80s with car theft. If you have considered high gates at the front of your house, that is another option. If the thieving bastards can’t see your Range Rover, they don’t know where it is to come back later and want it
this is shame for workers in birmingham/solihull if this slows sales , JLR have been aware of the problem for years but have done nothing until recently , it is mind boggling they make such advance expensive cars but security is a 2nd thought , they should fit trackers and ghost alarms factory fitted
Its been the same with a few of the brands over the years. The usual line of thinking is leave it as long as possible because when more go missing you can sell more again.
Its a disgrace that there isn't better legislation around this.
Doesn’t affect the new models
👀I’m truly baffled that no one has really challenged Land Rover over these diabolical issues 4real.
They did pal, that’s why there’s a lot more Lexus, Audi Qs and Volvo suvs on the road..they are not as luxurious but at least it’s not Christmas 🎄 on the dash each week..

Bentley brooklands bro! Say it again its the bosses - bosses car
I just got shot of my Sport after just owning it for 6 months, I’ve lost a fortune and got out while I still could. Was doing insurance quotes out of interest, more than doubled. It’s a shame, as I loved my Rangey so much! Such a nice car.
how much did you lose ?
The RR is not Ulez compliant so that would be a major reason to have sold it if commuting into Londob
The epitome of failure... JLR 22:12 just a sinking ship, not made a profit since 2017, woeful reliability and poor build quality.
Now add ridiculous insurance premiums for what is essentially a slow brick and values plummeting isn't remotely surprising...
Dont buy electric vehicles either,they have plummeted 40% and up,mercedes EQC ,new £79k 2023,7 months old 360 miles,like new,47k
They are ace, typical of London area its a all bad.. up north, no issues with them getting stolen or insurance issues. Me.. im in the proper north.. £450 and they are just awesome machines class off road, just service them more often and treat them well. Most issues come from the majority of folk that can't afford to have them serviced regularly as on the payments limit.... off road they are the absolute best.
Never buy one ,,,eveytime vyou park up will it be there when i get back ,,,will it be still there in morning ,,what price piece of mind
Boo Hoo if the insurance if going up and the value is going down. They are mostly used in city environments where they just clog up the roads. They are not necessary for the majority of motorists. I live in the country and I don’t need one.
I’m interested in buying that Range Rover, where can I find it online?
It’s sold already mate
My £200 Phone comes with a finger Print sensor,
Why cant JLR put a Finger Print sensor on the Push start Button ,....So even if Crooks manage to gain access into the car,...The car will not start without my unique finger Prints.
PS, I worked 35 Years at JLR.
Great video . lots of doom and gloom about Range Rovers , Im on my 4th one , only 1 of them proved unreliable but it had done 150k and was 7k , have to maintain them well and i always use shell v power or bp ultimate and they are trouble free. Great cars if you dont want a race car
So there's a 25% chance a Range Rover will be unreliable 😮
Land Rover should be liable for all of this. Shameful they way they have performed, not only from a security point of view, but a product quality viewpoint.
The content/subject in the video has nothing to do with reliabilty ,it's to do with the ease and popularity amongst thieves of stealing them!
Range Rovers are uninsurable now in London apparently!
I've said it before that although i see the attraction of keyless start , just having a key to start would kill a lot of car thefts. Sure, if someone is determined to take your car , they can break into your house but that is a different issue.
The more electrical stuff a vehicle has the more unreliable they are. I wouldn’t have a Range Rover or Land Rover product given to me. Over priced garbage.
What about commercial discovery 5
I don't own a Land Rover but I asked a hypothetical question at the police station wow the desk Sergeant didn't see that way when I told him I was going to booby trap the car internally because I was worried about it being stolen the voice would only activate if the car was broken into and the person who broke into was sitting on the seat what's the vehicle was started they had 3 seconds to leave the seat the device would activate and then it would well I can't go into that it would be very messy in the kneecap and shin area at this point the desk Sergeant went f****** ballistic and was threatening to arrest me immediately more copper showed up wondering what the f*** Sergeant was screaming about you can't do that that's illegal you can't do that that's illegal that's all he said to me but they have broken into the vehicle and have started the ignition at this point the device would arm and activate causing injury now remember this is a hypothetical question the answer I got was You'll Be nicked you've used lethal Force where is the answer
Retractable side steps are not gimmicky they only opt for fixed side steps because the can’t afford the retractable ones… he’s talking b….ks

These Indian Land/ Range Rovers are total junk. Just why would anyone living in and around London need a big 4x4 anyway..

It's not the insurance or mechanics..... it's the absolute whoppers living in rabbit hutch semis poncing around in these on the never never pretending they are something they are not.
The engine problems with that TDV6 are very worrying, my 2016 very well serviced RRS crank failed at 50k……… £13k repair bill at main dealer.
