Dales High Way - day 7

20th May 2024.
Much cooler today than the previous two days, but still pleasant and dry. Early climb to start up the Howgills, although not as difficult as I was anticipating. It was cloudy at times on the tops but kept clearing so I got some decent views. Lovely ridge walk along the tops and I really enjoyed it up there. If you like being all alone it's a great place for that I never saw a soul from leaving Sedberg until I was back down again. A bit of road walking to finish. but it was a quiet road with some pretty views.
There was quite a bit of elevation today but with it being much cooler, I found the climbing much easier and less tiring than the previous two days when it had been very hot.

Love the Howgills - all that open walking and not a wall or stile to be seen.

I too loved this section, it's very different to many places I have walked and I didn't see anyone at all while I was up there. I just loved the solitude and it was my favourite day.
