    Finasteride daily, along with applying Minoxidil daily is the best 1-2 treatment. I found I lost ground when I stopped Minoxidil and was taking only Dutasteride. Now I use both Medications daily, and recovered what I lost.

      Finasteride and dutasteride are DHT blockers But they do not block 100% of DHT and therefore are not cures for halting baldness, they just slow it down! Minoxidil is a vasodilator used for hypertension but off label can be used to help the quality of your existing hair growth, again Minoxidil does not have any affect whatsoever on DHT And therefore although it improves the general density of the existing hair in time this hair due to the extremely potent hormone DHT, will in time begin to miniaturise before finally falling out! When you stopped taking minoxidil the blood flow to these hairs would have decreased and the individual hairs would have lost their volume, which in turn would have affected the overall appearance of your hair hence why you noticed such a dramatic difference when you stopped using it. Now you have returned to using minoxidil with finasteride you feel you have regained some control over your hair loss, but I’m afraid you’re back to square one again your monoxide usage has again increased the volume of your hair and the finasteride has slowed down your shedding but the hormone DHT one of the most powerful hormones in the body will continue to attack the follicles over time!
      Good luck on your journey and let’s hope one day they find a cure for male pattern baldness!🙂

      @@christianblake3997 -Thanks for your response.
      What you said makes sense.
      However, I'm 66 years old, and the dual treatment of daily Dutasteride and Minoxidil are still working, there's something to be said regarding the efficacy of these medications, even in older men such as myself.
      Again, thanks for your knowledge and insight. I do appreciate what you said.

      @@petermusto3704 Hi Peter, thank you for your response. May I ask how long you have been taking both dutasteride and minoxidil for also do you take minoxidil orally and if so at what dosage? PS you look extremely good for 66!🙂

      @@christianblake3997 -Thanks for your kind words. My history with thinning hair began at 40.
      Began applying Minoxidil at 40, but as you know, if DHT isn't addressed, it's a loss cause. Kept applying Minoxidil for years afterwards, but at 54, began taking Finasteride.
      I was using both Medications everyday, but the Finasteride lost its efficacy at 64.
      Finally I began taking Dutasteride and still kept up applying Minoxidil.
      The results were fantastic.
      So much so, I finally stopped applying Minoxidil. After having a major loss, I resumed applying Minoxidil daily, and taking Dutasteride daily.
      All my gains were restored and I'm 66 years old, and I've found the sweet spot. Apply Minoxidil once daily, take 0.5 mg of Dutasteride daily.
      If this combination works on a 66 year old man, there's something to be said about this daily routine.
      And no, I'm not going to be taking Minoxidil orally .
      I'm used to applying it daily for many years now. Why stop if it's still working along with Dutasteride.
      Keep at it, it's an uphill battle, but it can be halted in its tracks.

    Quick addendum to the video - Post finasteride syndrome could be real. It certainly feels real for the individuals that experience it. However, the evidence for post finasteride syndrome is not very robust. In 2022, I wouldn't consider PFS to be a "proven" side effect. Maybe this will change as the research develops. We will see.

    • @etonmess6247
      @etonmess6247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      “Could be real”?
      I’m sure the symptoms “feel real” to the many rodents found to have lasting detrimental tissue changes following Fin discontinuation; the same tissue changes found in human PFS patients. Just a remarkable coincidence?
      Just this year, a study documenting 91 cases of persistent vascular, neurological and hormonal abnormalities in young men who used Fin was published. It follows a smaller study of 25 men in 2020 with similar results. Evidence of harm associated with Fin builds year after year.
      If past research was so “robust”, why did the makers push to have a Judge redact papers detailing evidence of persistent adverse events.
      Unfortunately, these things take decades to work their way through the system.
      Just look at Fluoroquinolones - ADR reports dated back to the 1980’s. Sufferers were told symptoms were “all in their heads”. Only recently was it accepted that those meds were the culprit all along.

    Isac I have two main Qs. Firstly there are some studies about PFS and how androgen receptors are getting disrupted and even after discontinuation with normal dht levels, receptors can't work.thats why nitrit oxide system might be permanently damaged. Secondly dht is one of the potent male hormone in male body, is it possible to not seeing side effects when 70 percent of a hormone inhibited ?

    I’ve been on 1 mg finasteride daily for 6 months and my hairline is still regressing. Even when I examine it closely I barley see any new “baby” hairs that could potentially regrow into full normal hairs at some point. I’m planning on going to a dermatologist (I need a new one because I just moved) and getting a dutasteride prescription to see if that will help. I know most people say wait a year before making your final judgment on how finasteride worked for you, however after 6 months my hairline is still getting worse so I feel i need something stronger. Do you agree with my thought process?

    • @isaacwadepharmd3969
      @isaacwadepharmd3969  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Doesn’t sound too unreasonable. A small percentage of men are know to lose hair despite taking finasteride. Waiting 1 year would be ideal but I would expect to at least see no further progression at 6 months. Are you using topical minoxidil 5%? I would add that on twice daily to the front of the hairline as well. Finasteride tends not to be as effective at the hairline if I remember correctly.

    • @tonj02
      @tonj02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@isaacwadepharmd3969 I have not touched minoxidil because I know that 95%+ (don’t remember the exact number but it was high 90’s) of men dont experience any further loss on fin, and like 66% gain some hair back. So with that in mind I wanted to see if I could stop it and even maybe gain some back if possible with just finasteride. And since sheds are involved with finasteride, I wanted to see if I at least would stop losing ground after 6 months but now that it’s been that long and I haven’t stopped losing it, I want to go to dut and then I’ll most likely have to add minoxidil

      @@akilbarboni4198 it’s hard to not worry about still losing hair when it’s been 8 months. Sheds are only supposed to last a couple of weeks, and any further loss shouldn’t still be happening this deep into taking it. I don’t think it’s wrong to want to be safe and switch to dut
