@@StayTunedTA I just gotta say, you gotta look at how Derek @vicegripgarage masks his wheels for paint, its a game changer! seeing him post here made me think of it!
First time I've seen you guys do something backwards! Seal goes on the glass. Lay a tough string or wire in the body groove of the seal. Lube the rubber, guy with suction cups holds it up against the body, someone gets inside and pulls the wire. If it's lubed enough and there are no sharp burrs on your body it goes super quick, almost like it was designed that way. ;)
As a professional glass installer I was going to say the same thing, but you beat me to it. You rope in the window and gasket as one unit. Save a lot of time and headache
A helpful tip for ya. Next time you paint wheels, just mount tire but don’t seat it to the bead, leave it down. It makes taping go much faster and you get a much cleaner look. 🙌🏼👊🏼👍🏻 when paint is dry, just remove tape, air tire up and you are good to go 👍🏻🙌🏼👊🏼🔧🔧🔧 got to love me some C10 squarebody 🔧🔧🔧
Appreciate you helping out the people in NC. I was up in Western NC this week helping with cleanup and repair on a 92 year old woman's house that flooded. The water went from 1' deep to 25'. Crazy. Thank you.
I absolutely love this build. My dad had a truck EXACTLY like this when I was a kid. Called it Big Red. He pulled his skid steer with it, we went camping.. memories my friends!
Work all day Friday and Saturdays (aircraft mechanic). We love watching Stay Tuned and Vice grip every friday while waiting for our aircraft to block out and depart. We do Amazon Cargo. Thank you for making our Friday soo much better. Plus you feel local to me. Work in Allentown, reside Jim Thorpe. Thank you gentlemen.
Love it. There's something particularly satisfying about keeping old work trucks and daily beaters going 👌 rather than slapping a turbo on it I'd like to see you guys putting it to work and hauling stuff ❤
For painting rims: Old deck of cards, air down the tire and slip them in along the edge, overlapping a little. Bam, done. Saves a ton of time masking, cheers!
Shit, even new decks of cards can be used, they are 1$ or less from any family dollar/dollar tree store, or whatever dollar store that is the closest to you!
Best show on you tube. Those pizza guys are awesome. Loved the porsche video that was my home track e-town. Caught me off guard there i almost cried when he said it.
44:06 - My dad was an autoglass guy when I was growing up. I watched him do a ton of these. The way he did it, you install the rubber on the body like you did, then you put a rope in the channel where the glass goes. Then kind of set the glass in the channel on top of the rope. And finally, pull the rope out around the glass. The rope pulls the lip of the rubber out and the glass pops into place. It works well enough 1 guy can do the job by himself.
Perfect truck. Beat the crap out of it without worrying. Tip for painting rim's. Put the tires on the rim but don't pop the bead on until after you paint the rim's. Makes taping SOOO much easier.
I watch tons of these restoration type videos on TH-cam and I gotta give you credit for using the word "aplomb." You are the first petrol-head I've heard use the word. Not only did you say it correctly, but you also used it in the proper context. Nice job.

Nice outcome on that one. They are called hog rings because they resemble and work the way the ones used on pig noses to keep them from rooting especially under fences back in the day. Rear windows are fun. Last one I had to do a window, I did it 3 times. First one I broke chucking firewood, second the ex through rocks at a horse reaching in tearing feed sacks apart in the bed of truck. I got smart and put a slider in which was much harder to break. The first time I watch the guy install it and he used a piece of clothelines rope. I did it the same way the next tow times. Really works the gasket it well.
Back in the 70s and 80s I had a number of basic straight 6, regular cab, 8' bed trucks. They were great work vehicles. Wish they still made something analogous today. Enjoy this one
