I drive this truck in my dad's orchard when i was 10 years old. I still remember the sound.

I love the enthusiasm this gorgeous young woman put into describing this old truck.
I just bought a 1949 Chevrolet 6400, and I'm starting to bring it back to life.

I like it. The dashboard is very easy to read. Truck looks tough.

That looks so cool and futuristic compared to most large truck/SUV-type vehicles...and some Ferrari's. Thanks.

As much as I enjoy the Ferrari's , You should do more of these working blue collar vehicles ..
    I enjoyed it!

Yes maam, that truck has been well cared for. Those transmissions were of the sliding gear style and they require double clutching to drive (that is what you are describing). Actually if a person is practiced one can shift those transmissions without using the clutch (We drive big trucks these days that way even though the training schools still teach double clutching). The engine in the truck is of the old style babbit bearing and uses dippers to splash oil on the rods and engine internals and it being a 2ton unit is a 235 introduced for the big Chevrolet trucks in 1941. Some of these trucks have what they call a Brownie box in between the main trans mission and the two speed rear giving a greater selection of gears. and it is quite possible that the truck came with what was called the hydro vac brake system giving the driver added stopping power. It is a real nice truck and enjoyed your presentation. I think that you should just add it to your fleet.🥸👍

Sweet truck. The closest to that truck I had had was the 1948 GMC 1.5 ton flatbed (that I installed when I was 19). Or the 1941 2.5 ton stake side. Red and yellow. I do not think I ever did anything mechanical to the 41, it just went down the road and it loved rock festivals.

Cool truck! Some long arched aluminum ramps could make it a car hauler.

LOL at the Vanagon effortlessly pulling around... you know you're a slow moving vehicle when that can happen! Beautiful truck, though.

My neighbors contractor is using one of these beauties to haul off the debris from the demolition. I’m lucky if I hear it coming down the street. It still sounds silky smooth but not as good looking as your example.

Great video, just bought one of these I’m rebuilding. Where do you find the identification number? She has a lost title and I’m trying to figure out the year so I can buy parts and get her registered. Thanks for the help!

I own several of these trucks. The vin number is on the engine block on a machined pad by the distributor. If the engine has been changed your factory vin will remain a mystery. Good luck.

@@HerbLarge thankyou. The last owner said it supposedly was the original engine and it appears to be so I have no doubts but I will look. Thank you so much..

Open the hood on the passenger side there should be a stamped tag on the side of the cab just above the fender . I have a twin to this truck and it has letter codes not numbers . 6400 series designation didn't come out until the Spring of '47 with the release of the all new Advanced Design trucks .

Pull that 235 and drop in a gmc 302 holy grail that’s the engine that was in the Chevy and gmc trucks in the military
