Good video! I’m excited for you to watch the next one which some consider the best of the series. It’s my favorite as well. Skull Island really highlights who Kong is as a character whereas “King of the Monsters” will have you understand/care for Godzilla as a character in the same level before their face off. 👀🔥
So in the novel it is explained that Gunpei (the japanese soldier) died by a skullcrawler that was mimicking one of tha natives children crying so he went outside the walls to help but died
Kong fighting the giant mire squid I believe is a call back to the 1962 King Kong vs Godzilla where the big ape fought off a giant octopus. Love how this movie didn’t repeat the old formula and Kong was given more opportunities to do more than in the past.
You were talking about Godzilla being an anti-hero. I was rewatching Godzilla 2000 the other day, where he defeats something that threatens life on earth. Someone asked at the end - “we keep trying to kill him, why does he keep saving us?” Someone answers “I think he’s decided that he’s one of us.” I found that very interesting.
When you finally get to watch GxK New Empire, Suko, is a bit taller than Kong was on Kong: Skull Island. That will show how big Kong has grown since Skull Island
You made me chuckle ment. "romance" when speaking of Kong and girl. I dont think it was ever meant as such, at least in this newer movies, its just on one side cheeky nod to OG Kong with girl moment and on deeper side i just think Kong is simply kinda lonely - he is creature on level of intelligence close to humans surrounded by mostly beasts (animals), or his mortal enemies and humans on this island seems to either keep distance from him or worship him as deity. So he is just lonely and if some show thems. kind caring person and have courage to approach him it means lot for him. Kong just needs a friend. 😊
lol @ 12:45 lunch-time 🤣 .. great video thanks 🙂.. @ 21:16 epic writing, he stands protectively and appeasingly at the front between both sides, knowing and hoping that there doesn't have to be a war because both sides are ok, so to speak, they are human *cheers from germany 🍺
I love how Kong rips out that one Skullcrawler's guts, much to the disgust of the human visitors. Side note: It's hilarious to hear Samuel L. Jackson say "Bitch, please!!"
I love this movie. Kong is awesome. I really got into Kong as a pre-teen in the early 80's; I saw the original 1933 film and loved it. Except when Kong dies at the end. That was very sad. I have also grown up with Godzilla. I prefer the original 1954 version to the 1956 Americanized version. I think part of it is because of the time I spent in Japan while in the Navy; I love the history and culture. I also loved Brie Larson in this. I have loved everything she has been in. That was a real camera she was using in the movie and she was actually taking pictures and developing them herself. I also have a painting I bought of the scene where she touches Kong's face. That was one of my favorite parts. It was so beautiful and tender. And, as a Veteran, I love that part at the end where Marlowe returns home to Chicago, his wife and the son he has never known. That brought a few tears to the eyes.
Fun fact Kong is a kid-teenager in this movie in Godzilla v Kong tho he is a full grown “man” u can even see his features change he towers over his hight in this movie he also has a beard and his muscle mass increase as well he looks like a grown man so that’s a cool ass detail
I'm hoping KOTM warms them up to Godzilla a whole lot more on an emotional level since they don't think he's capable of emotion (he factually is). And that movie is arguable Godzilla at his most emotional. I wasn't a fan of how they were talking smack about him after one movie... 😕

The octopus scene was also a playful nod to Oldboy. The ship they used, "Gray Fox" was a nod to a Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear character that is legendary.
I'm glad you two enjoyed Kong: Skull Island. People tend to connect more with Kong over Godzilla due to the fact that Kong is an ape and is capable of showing more human like emotions. As opposed to Godzilla, who is a reptile. But I can't wait for you two to see King of The Monsters. Ya'll definitely aren't ready for the craziness that happens in Godzilla vs. Kong!
Agreed - Kong is super relatable while Godzilla (although cool) is more like a force of nature. Looking forward to watching you react to Godzilla v Kong!
Personally I liked kong more because it just felt like what a monster movie should be. Godzilla was alright but it felt more like a movie about the people and their lives set AROUND godzilla, not Godzilla itself
@tycol322 That's fair, but Godzilla in the Monsterverse is the force of nature that is supposed to keep everything in balance. When a new threat arises or a monster gets out of control. Godzilla shows up to either put that monster down or in its place. This is why he's the King of the Monsters. Kong is dope, but I will always be more of a Godzilla fan. Mostly because I grew up on the old Toho films.
I've always loved Kong, but seeing him through y'alls eyes gave me an even deeper appreciation for him. There are shirts everywhere. Cavity Colors is a good place to look. I've got a wicked Kong figure to rep my love for this king.
Great video. Great reaction. Yes, this one thus far has been my favorite of the Monsterverse. Indeed, Godzilla is now 70. King Kong turned 90 last year, as his debut was in 1933. Two older monsters still rocking today!
The VFX in this Kong movie and Pacific Rim are some of the best ever, especially for films with massive creatures. They hold up incredibly well, much like The Matrix-you’d still believe it came out recently, even though it’s from 1999. The attention to detail and realism is awesome!
yes this (also precursor to a younger bit smaller Kong) can stand alone as a great Monster/Island movie 👍... But oooooh wait until "King of the Monsters" (for Big G) AND G vs K for (Kong) see you then, bring popcorn!
Godzilla Minus One is my favorite of any of these monster movies I’ve seen. I feel like you need to finish watching all of the movies in the monster verse right now along with the Apple show Monarch in order to really see how the story is unfolding to better appreciate all of the monsters because what you've seen so far is a tiny glimpse into all of it. I think Godzilla is by far still the fan favorite but I've never seen hate towards Kong either.
I'm actually seeing a lot of hate towards Godzilla after The New Empire because of Tiamat, a character that had very little presence in the franchise anyway. I will never understand why Tiamat is a character worth HATING Godzilla over... I'm noticing a lot of this hate is coming from Indian audiences for whatever reason. Those people REALLY hate Godzilla but love Kong... I hope they watch KOTM soon because only then will they realize just how great of a character Godzilla actually is

@@MeeshDeeReacts I forgot to let you guys know that Kong Skull Island takes place around year 1973, which is forty one years before the events in the first Godzilla movie.
Y’all should watch Godzilla 98 next
Be WARNED! The red blood hand print you’ll see… thats not KONGS hand print but I can promise you you’ll see him in the New Empire
Next time in Godzilla 2 King of the Monsters
Now you have to watch the old Godzilla and King Kong movies
Immediately
@@senortrekkie yeah they were awesome
Next up is my personal favorite movie of the Monsterverse Godzilla King of the Monsters.
This movie is fun. Godzilla Minus One, while a superior movie IMHO, is NOT fun. It isn't supposed to be. Most of the Godzilla and Monsterverse movies have a rewatchable quality because they are fun to watch. So don't worry about liking this better.
Watch Monarch the tv show it connects to the movies.
fun fact..this exactly happen at same time when godzilla was fighting ghidora..and wanna know who's waking up the giant skull crawler..guess who making the noise and wake all the monster..?..thats why kong the only one who didn't show up when ghidora making the call..because kong was busy..fighting the giant skull crawler
@@ADZSMINGAFUR Dude they haven’t watched that film yet hold the spoilers.
