What the-? JEAN??! He also promised to make up for the much maligned X-Men Origins with a better Wolverine solo movie, which is why this goes so hard! And even though his next one, "Logan", surpassed it, I haven't forgotten that this movie was awesome too.
22:25 Funnily enough that's been featured in a Superman comic as a way Doomsday was defeated. I don't remember how far back it was but in the comic Lex Luthor had found a way to increase Doomsday's intelligence thinking it would make him a deadlier threat to Superman but instead Doomsday learned to fear the pain of the injuries he sustained fighting Superman.
It's almost unfortunate Logan was so beloved because in turn the good quality in this didn't get the attention it deserves. I "liked" it but better I was immersed the entire time. I also noticed this film in particular tends to resonate with war veterans though I'm not entirely what of it is doing that. Still a positive checkmark in it's favor especially if they were actually going for that effect.
The Japanese flag has been the circle for a long time. The flag shown in the film is the Japanese war flag and also its naval flag. The army and navy have their own versions. The one in the film is the naval version with the offset sun and rays, while the army uses a centered version.

the scene with all the arrows in Wolverine.... it's a "😉" to the Porcupine cause it's the "Achilles' heel" of a wolverine in real life!! they have found from time to time some dead wolverines from infection of Porcupine needles.
If anyone else had played the son of the antagonist, he would have died after being stabbed with the poisoned pen, but Sanada-san just had to be given a katana fight sequence. Which is great.
50 years ago, Wolverine debuted in Marvel Comics from an appearance with The Incredible Hulk to a newly recruited member with the X--Men. But in 1982, his first-ever solo series by Frank Miller (300, Sin City) and Chris Claremont (1970s X-Men) defined the character of Logan. His story was set in Japan and Logan's life was likened to that of an Ronin (samurai with no master). He has the heart to stand against opposition, but is still learning/finding a direction in life. The film uses elements from the solo series and is set long after the events of X3:The Last Stand. This is Hugh Jackman's 2nd film with director James Mangold following the romantic comedy, Kate & Leopold (2001). Struggling with Jean's death, finding his place in the world and losing his healing temporarily is the most drama. The action, romance, suspense, intrigue of being a Gajin (outsider) caught in someone else's battle really feels like the comics. 2 of the antagoniss;Viper is originally human and known as Madame Hydra in the Captain America comics. Yashida in the Silver Samurai suit is based on the Silver Samurai and Ogun characters/known Wolverine villains. A really good sequel, rightfully steps ahead of and more loved than X-Men Origins:Wolverine. But both Logan & Professor X (solo/together) would soon face even greater obstacles. The evolution was not over and I personally couldn't wait to see so much more in this universe.
You guys are the only people (who do movie reactions) that give this movie it’s deserved credit! Most people say it’s either meh or bad. If you just really pay attention to the details, the movie is much better than you think.
Girls you forgot one thing, why his name is Wolverine? It's not about healing nor able to withstand pain.. it's all about tenacity, aggression and ferocity... That's the animal is... ... A small Wolverine can fight with the biggest predator...
The archer is played by Will Yun Lee. In the early to mid 00s he was in quite a lot. He was in the film Torque, played the general at the start of the bond film, Die another Day, although his character came back as Toby Stephens in the role later and he was in the dare devil spin off, Elektra.
Personally, I'd've stayed with Mariko and Yukio in Japan for a lot longer. But that's just me because Tao Okamoto (Mariko) is FIIIIIIINE!!!!!! Rila Fukushima (Yukio) is badass, too. It's a shame we didn't see her in more movies after this one.
Makio's childhood friend (the archer) is played by Will Yun Lee, the man who voiced Wei Shen in Sleeping Dogs. The hotel rooms that Mariko and Logan stayed is called 'Love Hotels' in Japan, it is basically used by couples to do 'you know what', and they have themes dedicated for the rooms.
when you think about what Japan did to neighboring countries like China, Philippine, Korea and etc, Using nuclear weapon to stop their madness was unavoidable.
Also a lot of people tend to think you know, with Wolverine having accelerated healing factor you know, he heals from everything. Yes, his body does heal himself, but the factors he's not invulnerable to pain. He still has his pain receptors. He can't shut those off. There are other characters that can shut off their pain receptors. But he's not one of them. He feels every gunshot every knife. Stab everything. It's not like he doesn't feel it. He just says in some cases come accustomed to it. I still would not like to be stabbed even if I knew I had a healing factor I mean like I don't wanna feel that it was one time in the comic books he said. He knew he was going to get shot up by this guy with a machine gun and he was like. Oh my God, I'm going to be s******* up. Bullets for the whole night. It was the funniest thing, but he was right in the next panel. In the comics, you saw him on the toilet, just pooping out bullet
(At 20:30) You would know what I called this guy that my sister thought was funny? "Asian Hawkeye" In fact this actor, Will Yun Lee, was on _Elektra_ in 2005 as Kirigi.
I love Hiroyuki so much that I unconsciously refuse that he's playing a villain whenever he does. I'm just like 'he's not bad he's gonna be a good guy you'll see' for the whole movie/tv show even when it's obvious he's bad. XD
Wolverine does feel pain even with his healing factor it just doesn't kill him, but it hurts taking the pain. Bur what I live about Wolverine is he is always willing to take the pain for others.
Wow, Echarra comes from Thailand. Very cool. I volunteer each weekend at the Albuquerque Zoo as a docent so I walk around and talk to folks about all our animals. We have Siamang Gibbons among hundreds of other animals. So Echarra should know about them very well.
I believe one of Wolverine’s lesser known abilities is he can on some level commune with animals. Hence why he and the bear had a “Sup bro” moment instead of the bear murking him on sight.
I think your both are phenomenal. Bruce lee is smiling for you both . My favorite is gambit. He had wolverines back when no one else took the fight. Gambit forever and I 🥋👍🏽
Another girl showed The Wolverine on her channel and the moment she saw the archer she said "Oh, hello boyfriend!" The archer was in the first Mortal Kombat when he was a lot younger.
In the first X men movie, didn't the humans develop a drug capable of taking away mutant powers? The mutants were willing to take it because they thought that loss of their powers would help them escape prejudice and live a normal life. It brings an interesting argument. Logan finds superhealing and longer life as a curse but simultaneously prefers to keep it. It is a part of him. Edit: it references real life discrimination. Why wouldn't black people make themselves white or why wouldn't anyone else change themselves so they look and act like someone else. They should respond by saying they are not the problem. The people who tell them to hate themsleves are the problem. Logan is not being discriminated against in this scene but Yashida is not treating him like a friend and Logan is obviously proud of who is and does not want to give it away.
If i recalled magneto caught injected with said medicine but he gain his powers back at the end of the movie when he moved the chess piece a little so the medicine only surpress it for a while.
After shogun Mini series watching this has so many derived parallels. Logan is like the foreigner who comes in bearing gifts. Even the grand daughter is named Mariko. Throw in Hiroyuki Sanada in the mix and it just proves Mangold and the original comic run was probably inspired by Shogun.
The wolverine in my opinion is the most underrated film of this series. A lot of people look past it, but I thought it was pretty good. It won’t beat Logan, but in my opinion, it’s two or three steps behind it. Now the next film, if you can find it, X-Men days of future’s past find its rogue cut. Omg I didn’t realise you check out Jaby and Achara and the rest of the Cinepals too. I always see you on the Doctor Who reactions on Syntells channel. Nice to see gou! And yeah this movie is defo one of the better xmen/wolverine films. The next one tho in the timeline is my favourite
@@jafrulislam7529 @CinePals is how I discovered @Syntell !!!!!
"They're going to have to glue that somehow" that made me laugh so hard🤣
never clicked so fast to anything.
'Mariko' was also Lex Luthor's assistant in Batman v. Superman.
Yes she was.
Sad she had little impact cuz Mercy is a HUGE character in Superman-verse
I studied Japanese Sword fighting for 20+ years and did multiple tours abroad and trust me the sentence :"You seek what all soldiers seek, an honorable death..an end to your pain"...If you ask any soldier they get EXACTELY how true that is
1:06:22 since you’ve seen “Logan” the premonition of Wolverine dying with his heart in his hand comes to fruition in “Logan”
This is where the fun begins!!!! I love Wolverine's comic stories in Japan!! Its extraordinary and exciting! 🙏🏽💪
36:47 Achara hanging around guys too much, she'll reveal all our secrets 😂
What the-? JEAN??! (they both grab their drinks)
This was fun
A common criticism from fans was that Logan could barely cut loose in the previous action scenes, so James Mangold promised to show a less 'watered down' Wolverine for the fights this time, and he really delivered.
21:27 I believe they're saying Kuzuri... Literally Wolverine. Lol
Kusuri is medicine though, so I guess it's an accent issue.
The Japanese flag has been the circle for a long time. The flag shown in the film is the Japanese war flag and also its naval flag. The army and navy have their own versions. The one in the film is the naval version with the offset sun and rays, while the army uses a centered version.
I never understood why a lot of people don't like this Wolverine movie in Japan! I know he's not one of the character's best films, but I still really like this film, along with Logan!❤
I didn’t realize till now that it’s the same director as Logan, maybe the bad taste from origins attributed to that, I think I wasn’t thrilled about it back the. But I’ve warmed up to it for sure ( I get the feeling I don’t get why people hate the marvels or she hulk and now….. people are starting to hate on the boys when what the complaints are about were the show the entire time they just weren’t paying attention)
So colorful, I wasn't awake but I'm awake now.
(At 5:28) No, this is more like "marking territory" than Sabretooth. Plus, look at his very old neighbor, who's younger than him.
40:50 And he died holding "his heart" on Logan Movie
(At 56:54) The bones WILL grow back, but the adamantium covering it won't. Plus, I think that's part of the reason why his growth is stunned.
the scene with all the arrows in Wolverine.... it's a "😉" to the Porcupine cause it's the "Achilles' heel" of a wolverine in real life!! they have found from time to time some dead wolverines from infection of Porcupine needles.
Interesting!
If anyone else had played the son of the antagonist, he would have died after being stabbed with the poisoned pen, but Sanada-san just had to be given a katana fight sequence. Which is great.
She wasn't wrong, he did die holding his heart in his hand.
Logan.
Probably the best role he's ever had was playing the original Takeshi Kovacs in the first season of Altered Carbon.
He's my favorite character in the Good Doctor.
Just noticed the big clue of Yuriko saying she didn’t see Yashida’s death. We just took him dying at face value.
The Wolverine is my fav Hugh Jackman movie. Plus Japan is COOL.
"Asian Hawkeye"
In fact this actor, Will Yun Lee, was on _Elektra_ in 2005 as Kirigi.
It’s better than the other Wolverine movie (2009).
You can say that again pal.
Note the dialogue from 40:40 where she says u will die by holding ur heart in ur hand and watch logan especially climax
This might be my fav Wolverine movie, might be my bias to Japan.
"they have to glue that somehow" was so funny to me
"You're holding your own heart in your hand" This line hits so different after you see Logan.
I enjoy watching Achara and Kristen watch movies together, they are so good with each other.
I’m here for degen Achara hours. Bless you, you dungeon loving, ex-forgetting human being.
Wow, Echarra comes from Thailand. Very cool. I volunteer each weekend at the Albuquerque Zoo as a docent so I walk around and talk to folks about all our animals. We have Siamang Gibbons among hundreds of other animals. So Echarra should know about them very well.
Watching this when it premiered was a treat they did The wolverine in jp justice 💪🏽
This is one of my favorite marvel movies ever! Its and underrated gem and dont understand the hate it gets.
Bro, me too, I love this movie, especially the extended version
I believe one of Wolverine’s lesser known abilities is he can on some level commune with animals. Hence why he and the bear had a “Sup bro” moment instead of the bear murking him on sight.
OMG LMAO I couldn't stop laughing when she said "nothing like being with another girl to get over the old one"
“You’re holding your own heart in your hand” Hits different now
Fun fact Mariko is before Jean, actually ladies, another one of Logan’s, and many lovers
Achara is the queen 🥳quickest way to get over a women is get on another is a cold line 😂😂
Ppl keep saying that but we're not animals, we're more towards mammals because of the fact that we breed differently it's a big difference.
The theatrical cut is OK but the rogue cut is better.
13:02 In the comics, Mariko Yashida was actually Wolverine's love interest! 🙏🏽💪
37:20 Samurai: Face my blade, gaijin.
Best jump scare I've seen in a while. LOL
I really couldn’t have anticipated what it would be like to experience this movie through your eyes. Thank you.
The poison lady shedding like a snake was an amazing scene
40:46 Feel free to remember that, ladies
(At 7:10) he had to put a kid out of it's misery, before it was finished living It's life.
I love how his hands were never scarred even without his healing ability x) (I'm talking about the claws)
