Hey Mixers, this was by Far our Favorite of the two movies so far in the MonsterVerse. Just uploaded *GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS* onto our Patreon: www.patreon.com/ThePerfectMix we could not believe what we saw in that film!
Now all you need to watch is godzilla vs kong and you will be up to date By the way in 7 months another movie will release its called godzilla x kong the new empire
What I like about this Kong is that we see him as a protector rather than some creature you sacrifice a pretty girl to. I definitely like the fight scenes between him and the skull crawlers. Those creatures are pretty creative by the way.
In the novelized version, they reveal that Gunpei, John C. Reilly’s friend, was killed after attempting to save a baby who somehow got outside the wall, which turned out to be a Skull Crawler imitating infant cries like a parrot to lure him out. Also, it’s heavily implied that the ship John Goodman was on that was destroyed, was destroyed by Godzilla, as the military was still hunting him back then
@@jaybirdrosewater-holmes7071 Yeah, they're great. The "King Of The Monsters" novel one also has a fun Skull Island chapter on what Kong was doing during the events of the movie
To answer your question about the location where they filmed, it was done in: - Kualoa Ranch in Oahu, Hawaii (also used for Jurassic Park and the 2014 Godzilla movie) - Queensland, Australia - Ha Long Bay, Vietnam (for the aerial and some ground shots)
Just to let you guys know, the post credits scene sets everything up for Godzilla King of the Monsters, hence the appearance of the other Titans such as Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah.
Kong: Skull Island is such a fun movie and an entertaining thrill ride from start to finish. The scene where Kong destroys the helicopters is so intense and the cinematography at the start of that scene is just beautiful. If there's one thing that I like about the MonsterVerse, is that each film has a distinct tone and feel from the people who directed them. Each one of them is someone's favorite depending on what monster movies they like.
You guys should watch Peter Jackson’s King Kong. It was in 2005 before any of the monster verse movies but none the less the movie has crazy action and a good love story. I highly recommend it if you enjoy monster movies 🎥
Besides the original, I still think Peter Jackson's version is more of the masterpiece, but this is still a extremely fun monster movie and is obviously apart of a bigger universe.
I like how Peter Jackson’s King Kong is a more traditional version of the story (basically a modernized remake of the original 1933 film) while Kong: Skull Island is its own story set in the MonsterVerse. Both are valid versions of Kong that stay true to the spirit of the character while being vastly different from one another. I will say that I liked the lore of Peter Jackson’s Skull Island more. You can tell he really nerded out the whole time while coming up with it.
This one of my all-time favorite movies. It was so amazing. As a Navy Veteran, I loved seeing Marlowe re-united with his wife and meeting his son for the first time. It was so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. Also, the actor who played Marlowe's son also played the young Marlowe at the beginning of the film. Fun little trivia fact: For Brie Larson's character, Mason Weaver, the director did not want a prop camera but a real one from that time period. Brie was actually taking real pictures when she was using that camera and she developed them herself. All those pictures shown in the movie are ones she took. I thought that was so cool.
The soundtrack to Skull Island 🏝 is amazing. There are a lot of classic songs from that era. The music alone gets me into the movie. But the action sequences are just better. Plus, they had a heartwarming story of the WWII veteran reunion with his family. Godzilla was focused on the human element and their perspective of these titans fighting. Cool concept, but fans clearly want to get right into the meat and potatoes with full-on monstervese fighting! -OG
4:44 That is Vietnam. Most of the shoots of the island in this film is Vietnam, but some shoots were Australia and Hawaii. 0:11 No that ride is from the King Kong (2005) it opened a year before Kong: Skull Island came out. 2:40 Bangkok is the Las Vegas of Asia, crazy fun as the saying goes, "one night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster." 23:08 Fun fact: They went back and forth on that shot. Was Kong going to kill him or was The Big One going to kill him. They felt Kong was the one that had a score to settle so they got Kong to do it. 31:15 Oh they do it right! Looking foreword to seeing you two see it. Who's side are you on? Godzilla or Kong?
I love that these movies have brought a whole new generation into the MonsterVerse. I grew up loving anytime a Kong or Godzilla movie was on. They have done it right and made old school fans like me that watched the old movies from the 70's and 80's.
I've only just got round to watching the film recently. Although I've seen all the Godzilla monsterverse films, the 1998 Godzilla and 1970's Hanna-Barbera Godzilla (and Godzooky) cartoons (which I grew up on). The cartoons can be found on TH-cam. Not sure why I delayed it as I loved the film. I laughed when you mentioned Planet of the Apes as in that scene you had Toby Kebbell (Chapman) looking at Kong (whom he did the mo-cap for Kong's facial features. Which you can see when he crunches his nose, it is rather bizarre, now I cannot unsee it) and Toby also mo-capped and played Koba in Planet of the Apes. Great timing with the comment and really good reaction.
Fun fact is that the film was actually made in Vietnam which was pretty cool. But low key I remember seeing the post credit scene for the first time and i got absolutely HYPED 😂
One of the movies where Samuel L Jackson plays a villain. I mean there were also the lizards, but the human villain. Kong was always kind of a "gentle giant" but not understood, and easy to angry, or get on the bad side of. But a great reaction, and a good movie in my opinion.
This movie is so brutal, your reactions did not dissapoint! Glad you enjoyed it so much, looking forward to the next two (although they aren't as good as Kong imo, the are still epic!!)
This Movie is a really good Kong movie, glad to see you guys enjoying it as well. After you watch the next Gozilla and Godzilla vs Kong movies, maybe take a look at Peter Jackson's King Kong movie. It's not connected to these movies, but also a fun watch.
Okay so you guys have two more Monsterverse films, a Netflix animated series, Skull Island, which takes place 20 years after this, and a trailer for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters to get through.
16:46 partly from not wanting to be contacted. I remember in an anthropology theory class I had to take we had to discuss Napoleon Chagnon and the controversies around his questionable studies of the Yanomamo of Brazil
Hey guys love your stuff - can you PLEASE get a setup so you have stereo sound? :) I only say it because it takes a bit out of the score and film in general. I know its hard to hear each other but just asking :) Great reaction as always!
When you mentioned not wanting to go to Bangkok, I thought we’re sayin there’s a lot of “them” , as in ladyboys and I was so confused for a second 💀 😂 💀
I've been looking forward to this one ever since you two started on the "Monsterverse". 😊 Such a great movie with a great cast, a great soundtrack, and great storyline. This is definitely my top favorite non-MCU movie with Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John C. Reilly. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
No matter what anyone says this movie and the godzilla movie that was a part of this universe were absolutely phenomenal. The rest of the movies i wouldnt say that for but these 2 were just fantastic hands down.
Great reaction you 2, glad you enjoyed Kong. This one sets up Godzilla: King of the Monsters which takes place i believe 5 years after the first Godzilla movie. I grew up on all the old Godzilla movies, so the Monsterverse was a joy for me. And to think it was the original 1933 King Kong that inspired minster movies around the world, especially Japan...and they love Kong.
I’m sure someone’s already commented on this, but the Skull Island ride at Universal is actually a spin off of the 2005 King Kong movie, directed by Peter Jackson.
Did you two see King Kong(2005)? That movie is a reboot of the original 1933 movie, and it has nothing to do with the Monsterverse. In my opinion, it is the best King Kong movie ever made. Naomi Watts was AMAZING, the visuals were breathtaking, and the entire movie is a rollercoaster of emotions. It was the breakout movie for Naomi, the movie that showed that Jack Black can do real acting, it takes place in the 30's I blieve, and it's truly a masterpiece. I don’t know what ride or attraction you were on down in Orlando, but perhaps it was King Kong, not Kong. I think the way it works is Kong is the version that is with Godzilla, but King Kong is a story all by itself.
4:00- "Hold onto your butts" that's another time Samuel. I heard you the first time in Jurassic Park. Ain't too many more times I'm gonna hold on to my booty.
Great reaction, guys! I'm such a sucker for monster flicks. And this one (along with its universe) is among the BEST monster movies. Another fantastic classic monster movie is Tremors 1990. Not as grand in scale but still properly fun, horrific, and adventurous.
Keep in mind.... GODZILLA (GOJIRA) WAS ACTUALLY CREATED BY THE ATOMIC BOMB DROP DURING WWII.... The Radioactive ☢️ fallout seeped into the ground and caused Godzilla to mutate, that same rediation fell into the Hollow Earth where it remained for GENERATIONS... Enough time for KONG TO GROW
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is next. It makes up for the first Godzilla movie with more Godzilla, more action, and more titans! Really, really looking forward to your reactions to the next in the series.
I loved the Godzilla...but I LOVE Kong skull island. What a great take off of the original one in '33.(which scared the stuffing out of me when I was a kid.) 🖒🐵
Funny you mention Planet of the Apes, because one of the soldiers (the one filling his water canteen then running away from Kong), did some motion capture for Koba in the newer PotA movies. He also did some mocap for Kong himself, so in that scene he's technically running from himself.
You guys surely should know this that Kong will grow three times bigger in size and strenght in Kong vs Godzilla . He is just an adolescent in this movie which means he is almost like a 13/17 year old teenager . In the next movie you will see a fully grown adult Kong who has a beard .
I'm so happy to see new people getting to see the monsterverse I'm a huge godzilla fan and a fan of the monsterverse can't wait to see your king of the monsters video on TH-cam
King Skull Island took the criticism from Godzilla 2014, such as less focus on the monster and monster action and improved them. This carried on further in Godzilla 2, and even more so in GvK.
This movie is the best of the monsters verse because in the Godzilla movie it was always dark where in this movie there is minimal dark scenes so far in the story
Godzilla (2014) is a very good film to introduce their MonsterVerse, to show how the humans are now being introduced to these Titans (the name of the giant monsters in this cinematic universe). Kong: Skull Island is a very good adaptation of the colossal gorilla. Exploring the island more and it’s exotic creatures. Next up is going to be Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Can’t wait to see what you think of that film. Also, the ride at Universal you’re referring to is set on the King Kong film that was made by Peter Jackson, who is best known for his adaptation of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogies.
This is easily the best Monsterverse movie so far. Good human characters, no one is safe, pretty consistent monster action, a final showdown that happens in the daylight- I like Godzilla more as a monster, but dang this movie is just better.
If you guys are interested in the lore of the monetrverse but with skull island specifically I recommend checking out the prequel comic Skull island:Birth of kong. Also recommend Gojicenter's how many ways you can die on skull island videos
you guys are gonna love Godzilla vs Kong its such a good movie also ghidorah is my fav kaiju so im pretty bias about the next movie i think its the best out of the franchise so far with godzilla vs king being right up there almost tied for first for me personally

This movie was surprisingly brutal, as it should be for any movie about Skull Island.
Not many PG13 movies have a reference to fucking Cannibal Holocaust lol
I saw a video about the different ways you’d die from the monsters on Skull Island, and man they really held nothing back when it came to this movie
