I think Stefh IS a consistent character. She is bad at games, but games alone. On the other side, she is brilliant in politics. I actualli find this funny: in a normal world, Stefh would probably be a good and suitable ruler, but since this world is all about games, something that she can't handle, she end up looking almost dumb.
I kinda disagree with how you see steph. Steph is smart, she's just not a gamer. She's not good at manipulating situations, or planning ahead. There's a lot of intelligent people who are crappy gamers. They know what to wear for the weather but can't predict it. That's just my experience involving smart people and video games.
+757reaper And thinking about it, she'd probably be a capable, compassionate ruler if she lived in their world... meanwhile the siblings are total shut-ins.
WickedKnightAlbel In a world rule by games only the coldblood could ascend. Mercy gets you L's. She's just not built for a world like this, but she's everything that world needs.
757reaper My sister is more socially intelligent... I beat a lot of people in chess, especially her. I'm calm in an argument, she's on the verge of a breakdown in confrontation.
Just because an Anime doesn't have a good ending or ends on a cliffhanger that may never be finished or just ends without the sequel it was supposed to have doesn't make it bad or unwatchable. It just leaves you with a void and pisses you off making you want to do things you would never mention on TH-cam. But regardless of all that being said I'm still going to watch No Game No Life because it has an interesting concept that no other Anime has ever done, a world revolved around games. Yugi would dominate that World in 3 Days or less.
I've heard "Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They?" has pretty much the same concept of a world revolved around games so I'm not sure if you're right about "that no other anime has ever done". I haven't watched or read it so I'm not sure if it's true.
He just needs to buck up and actually read the Light Novel for No Game No Life until the second season comes via baka tsuki. Which it will considering the fan reaction to the series to begin with. They've already hinted that there will be a second season with a preview of the other volumes in the last episode.
***** hmm so no matter how good an anime is, if the ending is incomplete or poorly executed (in their opinion) its automatically get -2 points. ill agree and disagree with you at the same time. the music and animation scores dont change, i dont believe character scores change much either so the only real factors that change are story and enjoyment. If your enjoyment score changed ill agree with you. Personally i feel people shouldnt really care about animation, sound , story etc when watching an anime but rather their own enjoyment. For EVERY anime some people will like it while others wont. Its gets to such a point that some people dislike certain anime b/c othersfind it good.
As silly as it is, that's exactly how you have to look at it. Just because you are intelligent and understand a lot of things on paper does not mean you can apply it consistently. Its how some people are. She's just being a Steph. "She's smart or dumb, pick one." No no no no no. You can't pick how how your brain works.
+cLoud unDerWeather As Sora would put it; Shiro is smarter than him but is not superior in terms of strategizing. Same can be applied with Steph. She is intelligent but lacks the mastery on what Kuuhaku always does; tricking other people, as seen during her poker game with Clammy. She could not keep a poker face and can barely contain her tears.
I like how you do reviews without spoiling the show. Your reviews are actually really enjoyable and informative, and I've actually scrolled through your list of reviews looking for new shows to watch every now and then!
Jack Smith The music is fantastic and the plot/pacing is fantastic. The episode with Jibrill where they keep removing things until the atmosphere is missing was fucking clutch. But the fanservice was stupid.
I owe you so much! As an adult I had gotten busy w life and not rlly been able to watch anime at all really. I found your channel and BOOM launched me back into anime even further than as a child. My wife may not be a fan but man my life is so much better literally all because of you! Keep it up
Samuel Sargunam At times it did take some serious turns in terms of politics and war especially in the light novels...then Issei ruined it with his pervyness and I start busting a gut laughing.
I love Sora and Shiro. Shiro, even though the show kind of doesn't respect her, is THE best loli character, EVER. Sora is a more comical version of Kira; yes, I know that they are not that similar, but I just feel the same I felt with Kira when I see Sora win a game. Tet is just 2cool4u; he is god, literally. I WANT A SECOND SEASON, MADHOUSE. Nice review, GR.
I couldn't watch past episode 4 because of how stupid it was. It was creepy as fuck with the relationship between the siblings and waay too much fan service. Did I mention it was ridiculously stupid?
AMVaddictionist Yes. Because it's so exciting when there's absolutely no tension because you know the main characters are always going to come out victorious no matter what.
Wasn't a huge fan of this. It sort of suffered from what I like to call Sherlock Holmes Syndrome. You know the main characters have a nearly implausible level of intellect and have already solved all of the mysteries beforehand so it loses some of its suspense and makes the journey to the win harder to appreciate. You know a plot device will occur at some point meaning they'll win. That and I found them both to be generally sort of hard to like. Also the fanservice, the fucking fanservice, why that amount? I guess you were trying to appeal to two types of audience but still. All that said I can't deny the show was fundamentally intelligent and some of the scenes, especially during the games, were incredibly beautiful to behold. It was a very mixed basket.
+Planetary Pieces Nothing wrong with that at all, the whole point is that Sora and Shiro are almost impossible to defeat because they're so much smarter than everyone. For a 12-episode comedy/adventure series, that's perfectly fine. Sometimes, we don't need a real struggle, like One-Punch man. It's nice to see basically invincible main characters every now and then.
+Planetary Pieces Remember that othello game? That game was so unbelievably stupidly presented, that it convinced me to drop the game. Not only did the MC lose (and I checked it, screencapped and counted all...) the game but still get declared winners, earlier in the episode they have a chess game that sister ALSO loses by making an illegal move. Still treated as a victory. The show does not suffer from Sherlock Holmes Syndrome. It suffers from Mary Sues as main characters. They win because the plot says so, not because they actually earned the wins.
Mandemon1990 It sort of suffers from both. You know how in the BBC's more recent Sherlock adaptation he just sort of stares at everyday objects and white text flashes past him until he knows everything he needs to know but the audience is like "bitch whet?" I get those kinda vibes from this show.
To be fair, sometimes the person who isn't that bright has sudden bursts of inspiration or brilliance. This also applies to real life. It's one of those moments where the person who's normally dumb somehow has some knowledge in a particular field that makes them actually useful. This is how I see Steph.
Finally somebody who understands. I am a person really similar in this matter to Steph. I am usually kind of a not really bright person, sometimes you could even call me stupid, but from time to time (and I think that more often than Steph) I have those moments when I have some kind of an idea that others didn't have or sometimes in certain situations I simply am smarter than every other person for no real reason other than my random sparks of wisdom. That's why when watching NGNL I felt like I could imagine myself in this anime as a replacement of Steph - like I could be part of the action. (Yes, I really enjoyed watching this anime).
***** Exactly. There's book smart, there's street smart, there's strategic, and there's tactical. 4 different ways of thinking. Most people are only capable of 1 or 2 patterns of thinking. 3's uncommon. All 4's rare.
***** Yep. I'm not street smart, but I'm pretty proficient at the other 3. People ask "What, you think you're smart or something?". What do you think my response is? :3
***** I'm capable of coming up with more brilliant strategies and such... But blowing stuff up appeals to the fun side in me... But I'm also good at the more... subtle approaches.
Neko Yuki same here to an extent, i'm more strategic and tactical than book smart but i am apparently book smart according to friends due to my ability to pick up important facts from lessons, lectures, etc, but i put that down to tact (storing for later use when in need) XD.
Wait wait wait. You call that too much fanservice? All there was couple pantyshots and cesored nudity for 5 secs. (Batheing time) Realy, its pretty much standard now in any anime to have pantyshots. You want want to call something too much "fanservice" watch Highschool DxD or Highschool Of The Dead.
Blackburn0793 I think what he meant to say was not *Best two anime so far* but rather *Realy good shonen mainstream kinda stuff* Wich there where. But i have to say that maybe ive grown to old for this kind of anime so watching more seinen oriented anime like mushishi is far more interesting for me.
Astral Soul Yeah, the Code Geass universe balances the characters quite nicely. No game No life has OP main characters, Lelouch wouldn't stand a chance. Unless he kept his geass, that would probably fix everything.
Astral Soul In NGNL the protagonists are super OP, you might as well call their powers supernatural. Not that I mind this, and I agree with most of what you said, but Sora and Shiro are more OP than Lelouch, simply because of intelligence. And you know, plot armor.
Astral Soul True, I suppose the powers are technically more relatable. Still though, shooting bullets out of the air consistently? I don't know how many people relate to that power... But yes, they are great characters and are enjoyable to watch. And unlike some characters I really enjoyed them winning a lot, despite their OPness.
I think it would have been worth mentioning how bad and over-the-top the fanservice was in this show. In my opinion, there are actually good ways to include a moderate amount of fanservice, but this show just did too much of it in too lazy a way. The prime example of this was all those scenes in the bath where the female characters (including the 11-year-old Shiro) just lounge around in suggestive poses with tentacle-like shampoo nozzles all around. There's just no way to watch this otherwise-enjoyable series without feeling like a pervert.
Thank you! I hated this show because of how much fanservice there was and how distracting it was. I don't care about fanservice in my anime, but the amount of time they spent on it and how much attention they called to it kinda made it feel like it was bordering porn.
No Game No Life movie has been announced in 2017. Hype is real! Supposedly IF(this IF is almost non-existent based on hype) the movie does well on the viewer count/buy count we just MIGHT see a 2nd season in 2018(?) *crosses fingers*
Why I haven't enjoyed NGNL: -Lack of character development. We know ony that main characters are neet and they can't lose except their own normal life -Main protagonist are annoying -Humor in this show is realy bad, fanservice and shouting are not funny -Fanservice -Sora is pervert and neet -Shiro is super smart, even though she can say only Nii-san -They can't lose and say this all time -Hype -Wasted potential of intresting characters(Jibril) -Cliffhanger
I agree for the most part Shiro's flashback barely gave any devlopment (but I guess the LN has more content) And yeah the "king of games" aspect is SO annoying almost all of their wins were close calls and too OP
AsianGuyTA No, believe me when Sora and Shiro pulled of alot of their stunts I really liked it the hype was so real, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they constantly say "We planned this" when alot of their wins were close calls.
OseiTheWarriors yes, that might be true. But I think it's a bit too early to give this series a final verdict as ngnl (including LN's) is newly made. Thus, anything might change.
It was refreshing to watch intelligent characters actually act intelligent. Its really boring (and sometimes near-insulting) for the "smart one" to just babble off big words or push buttons on a keyboard, act awkward, and just have the plot tell us that they are a genius. I go to an engineering university, intelligent people are way more interesting than what media would lead you to believe. Our MCs are actually intelligent. They adapt, they plan, they think as intelligent people do. I would love to see more love for the Princess though, she's got potential to be awesome, at least in social aspects where the MCs are inexperienced.
Except this series might as well be a parody of "mastermind hero" anime, because it's painfully apparent there are some very implausible logic leaps in the main characters' guesswork, and, in most cases, there are far more dependable ways to achieve the same results. But no, these guys know the plot is on their side and go for Rube Goldberg plans that somehow never fall through as long as they're complicated enough. It's like Tet either lets them win on grounds of creativity alone - or he just wants to make them happy by providing them with exactly the kind of challenges they like.
I like this series because of the planning the characters do. I love waiting for them to win so they can explain how they won. Just seeing how they are reading so far ahead is just ... YESSSSSS
I liked the review but I don't understand how you couldn't find the music memorable. The opening song was fantastic and really catchy, I listen to it all the time. One of my personal favorite openings.
Valvrave I usually watch ''serious'' anime. Like berserk, death note, hellsing, fate zero etc. and of course the usual suspects naruto and op. So this felt like a breath of fresh air. It was just fun to watch beginning to end. I seriously have no gripes with it and i found the fanservice to be funny more than being a distraction.
+Artorias I as well. (As in I like to watch serious anime. I'm not in a position assess the comparative quality of No Game No Life because I have not watched many anime this year. This was merely one that I was able to watch with some level of interest.)
to everyone creeped out by the sora shiro relationship, welcome to japan i mean in almost every anime there is that one guy who gets a kick out of being called onii-chan, (which is big brother) so incest isn't uncommon in anime its just when the brother-sister relationship gets physical
and i completely lol and anyone says there is to much fanservice honestly speaking it has very low fanservice for an ecchi the only fanservice i can think of are the 3 or 4 bath scenes after a new girl joins the harem and steph because that was pretty much her character
EmilianoAC1 tell that to the guys in japan who get a kick out of a brother sister relationship. i believe certain anime characters are supposed to be some what relatable so when its targeted at guys who as previously stated get a kick out of being called big bro it should be completely expected since its not much a stereotype
At first I saw it as strange and incest as well, but shiro was adopted. They explained it in the 8th episode I believe. So they aren't really related. Yeah it is gross. But don't think of it as "Japan your so fucked up" it's not Japan! It's just writers! Incest isn't supported in most areas of Japan, it is just a fantasy for people with strange minds.
I really don't get what the big deal is about this anime. I mean it was okay but not great or awesome. I don't get why people are calling it, "The best anime ever" or "The best anime of 2014" if you ask me,it comes no where close to either one of these titles. I mean,it was mediocre at best.
I ❤__Trafalgar Law It's simple really. When something is good, (which No game no Life certainly is - it just wasn't _that_ good) someone will always proclaim it to be the greatest thing in the world. I've noticed this holds true both on and off the internet. I always makes sure to take any such remarks with a few grains of salt.
I ❤__Trafalgar Law It was far from mediocre. But different strokes for different folks I guess. I absolutely loved it and I don't follow hype trains. I enjoyed it because of the way they did the games, the intellectual part of the show, the comedy, the fan service, and of course the overall design of the series.
Literally started and finished this in one day. (the day after it was open to free users on CR I believe) So much for a "read the manga" ending lol. The anime is ahead of the manga xD (it's based off of the light novels for anyone wondering)
Yeah, I would have gave it a 7 as well. The show was fantastic, although Shiro's fanservice is ridiculous, but that ending was just so painful. I remember not being sure if I actually had just watched the ending or if there was another episode, but no, it was the ending. And it was just so fucking stupid.
Mr. Arkada, I'm aspiring to be an animator some day. I already come up with my own stories, but I'd like to know...what are the ingredients for the absolute perfect story (assuming there is one)?
I am going to be that guy who higlhly disagrees with the review, but gives off a hopefully point, or at least valid opinion. NGNL has a lot of problems, although most of the games they played were highly enjoyable to watch, if you stop up and think about them, you realize how stupid it was. Let's put it into context, two extremely good gamers are forced to play chess, which evolves into a strategy game, which evolves into a masculinity contest, which evolves into a dating simulator, which evolves into a cuteness contest, which evolves into more bullshit... Also, what's up with that word chain game? Sometimes the word you say appears in front of you, other times it removes them. Enjoyable as fuck to watch, but thinking about it just hurts. Another problem is that not only do you know the main characters are going to win, you don't care if they do. They have nothing to lose because they are going to win. In my opinion, by the end (?) of the anime, I felt like Sora and Shiro was more of a couple of douchebags and assholes than I felt they were heroes. The only character in the anime it that actually doesn't hurt my brain or says "Fuck you!" to my career as an anime watcher, was the Old King. He actually had insentive to what he was doing, had an actually intriguing strategy which also was given sense. In the end, Ngnl ends up being a extremely nice looking anime, has a decent soundtrack (at best), papercut (if not bad) characters and a terrible story. It is not rewatchable, except for a couple of scenes, (and most of those scenes will go on as gifs), unless you enjoy watching Steph's censored melons... The anime is best watched as an "escapsim" anime, where you watch it episodically in times where you have little of it, should also NOT be marathoned. The anime also loses a lot of its comedy if you are not experienced within the anime universe as most of its refrences just passes by your ears. I also expect this comment to get a lot of hate, but please be conciderate and don't spam it with the same "What are you talking about? This is like my favorite anime ever!" and altough I do agree it is one of the better ones this spring season, I don't think it was very good. It does a lot of parodying the anime universe, which I felt KLK did earlier this year, just much better. I also feel that without catching wind of all the parodies and jokes surrounding the anime universe, the anime doesn't stand on its own feet.
well, yeah that chess game really is like the epitome of going too far. And that's what warrants that the show shouldn't be taken too seriously. Controlling 4 characters with 2 people, with legs on the mouse would tell you how unrealistic and illogical that sounds. The chess game's twists are so outright ridiculous to the point it looks like an ass pull. As for the Shiritori game, it was explicitly stated before the game that anything that didn't exist in the world would appear and vice versa, so long as it isn't anything made up on the spot(and yes all the words stated were based off real things). To describe Sora and Shiro's characters, they're essentially otaku/hikikomori/gamers with traits taken up to eleven. Sora is a scheming strategic bastard which is the reason why he's so interesting. His insane mind and perverted nature is what makes him likeable in the first place. He's essentially the epitome of every stereotypical gamer/otaku's brain while Shiro is the gamer's skill, while being ridiculously smart in everything. Shiro's character on the other hand plays as the typical Imouto-chan while being hooked to her brother, which is apparently some kind of trend in otaku culture. That doesn't stop her from supporting Sora's antics or criticizing him for anything. They're kinda like Gary Stu/Mary Sues in a sense. Yes, knowing they'll win is a given for the most part, but the entertainment comes from what happens in the games. The reason they have nothing to lose is because they are not from this world, not because of a foregone conclusion. What it does affect if they lose is their undeterred win streak because [ ] is meant to be unbeatable. To note, they're essentially an overplayed stereotype. Besides, if they were the same as the Old King, they would be boring. Obviously the show isn't perfect, given how over the top everything is with unpredictable twists throughout the games. The show itself is pretty much a stereotypical otaku/gamer's "perfect fantasy". If this were a serious story(and really it isn't) it would easily be considered one of the worst anime out there. However, since it isn't serious, it's very easy to see why its so fun to watch. Is it intelligent? It gives the illusion but is very fake. Is it plausible? Nah. It's fun to watch, definitely overrated on MAL, but as an entertainment piece, it's good.
BlackDeathBlade I guess I was just silly and didn´t notice the facts about the "Shiritori" game, thank you for informing me. Also, nicely put by using "Illusion". It very much so fits the anime. But I think that giving the illusion of being a different anime, might not be a positive thing in all perspectives. And I wholeheartedly agree the anime if fun to watch, but as it gives the illusion of being smart, which might be its greatest downfall because it makes you actually think about it. It also does give off the feeling that it wants to be serious at multiple points, especially around Sora and Shiro. Also, thank you for making the first reply to my comment this nice, I really was expecting to get bashed on. This second comment of mine is kinda short, but I don´t feel like I have a lot more to say.
in terms of who they are? nothing really. a lot of the drama can be played for laughs and they're having fun. Yes they care for humanity, but anything taken seriously is already thrown out the window.
When they introduce the characters and Sora and Shiro are falling towards the ground, I always loved when he flips them around so he can try to keep her alive. It was sweet, and kind of a good introduction to their characters.
Just got done watching season one yesterday and it is my most favorite anime ever!! Id be disappointed if there is no season two and it just stops mid way through sora and shuros adventure.
GogglesIndeed that maybe true but in almost every anime the cute child or loli is always sexualized and they may not be real but that doesn't make it anymore acceptable. older women can be cute to
I cheer for them and hope they win? Did anyone actually ever thought that those two would EVER and I mean EVER lose? They never even came close to losing because of some bullshit foreseeing of the o-so strategists aka the protagonist and his loli fanservice sister. No matter what happened, every time there was "some" tension in a game, Sora would just say that he had seen it coming all along and wins. No character development no real plot besides "challenging god to a game" and no real laugh out lout comedy. It was "ok" if you wanted to think about nothing for 20 minutes a week but that doesn't deserve nearly an 8/10.
Huke Chong Kurami actually somewhat lampshades that all of Sora's plans rely on nearly perfect execution to work and are generally rather insane. She makes a good point really. Most of the time they try to predict like 100 moves ahead before they even show up to the venue. Heck, they weren't even 100% sure what the game WAS for the last game the anime showed until they got there, and they were already preparing to set up the plan.
There is also this anime if you are looking for a good recommendation, with some similar themes (as in being thrown into another world, and also games and stuff) Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo? (Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They?)
The first brightly colored anime I watched was Tsuritama and I found it brilliant and beautiful. Now that I see this, I have an urge to look into it. The art looks nice and the fact that two siblings working together is great too.
Paused halfway through the video and watched the entire show in one sitting. I like it. :3 Reminds me of season zero of Yu-Gi-Oh, when they actually played more than just Duel Monsters. Only, there's fantasy. The wordplay game was probably my favorite, wherein they took advantage of the fact that their opponent didn't understand atomic theory. XD And I love the fact that they work as a team and are so dependent on one another.
I really appreciate these reviews, I usually watch your review before actually watching a new anime, and I highly value your opinion. The only thing I wish is that you'd ad a "If you liked this, then you'll LOVE..." section at the end. I.E. If you like Future Diary then you'll like Deadman Wonderland, Puella Magi, Dangaronpa, ect (Specifically, give me more ideas what like This and Puella!!! I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed) Other than this, I love you dude. My kid sister turned me onto you, and you're hilarious and intelligent.
Aja Linda He does have that section at the end of every video. He doesn't use those exact words, but he always recommends similar anime to the one he reviews.
I'm sure he'd give it a higher rating if there were a 2nd season. He said it himself he doesn't like cliffhangers if there isn't a guaranteed 2nd second season, and since the show didn't wrap it up in a mini-finale but rather epic beginning, it makes you hate it if they don't make the next season. For selling point, you could just do this one anime and switch people to manga. Lots of people would get disappointed because there isn't many animes like this one. It is incredible just like Attack on Titan, but if you just leave it just there, then it'll only leave you with frustration.
This is so so wrong. NGNL wasn't really that good at all, it was pretty average. I enjoyed it at and all but.. It's seriously over hyped and was in no way shape or form the best series in the last couple of years, or even the last few seasons.
ReyReysLoL out of curiosity, what animes would you consider better or par with this one...within a couple of years? Some people have a preference style.
This is the first time I've seen any of your videos, and I must say, it was good. After having a bad run of Discussions/Talkers/Count-Downers recently, it was great to find someone actually good at this. You speak in a clear and confident voice, which also doesn't grate on the ears, the points you make, some I agree with, some I disagree with, some even changed my mind, are all well thought out and logical. Now excuse me as I go click that Subscribe button
The plot premise is pretty similar to 'Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?', and I really liked that anime, so this anime was just pure awesome to me
you mean Problem Children are Coming From Another World Aren't They? I always get confused between the English and the Japanese... But I LOVE that anime. Nice story plot but I want another season cuz of the end..
Mugsi "Hand talking" isn't limited to just Italians. Or Canadians for that matter. I speak with my hands all the time, and I'm Filipino. I also see lots of Filipino's do the same thing. Not to mention Mexicans, Russians (yes I know a Russian who speaks with her hands), and lots of other races/nationalities...... At first, I was tempted to say that "hand talking" was especial to races whose native language sounds like yelling when they're really just speaking normally. Cause obviously, Italians and Filipinos always sound like their yelling..... But I can see that it's just sort of a tick that some people have. It's not like it's a bad tick
With the popularity of Btooom and NGNL sequels will almost definitely come. Especially for Btooom that has so many more volumes out now. A new season would give a boost to the sails of the newer issues.
Yes the dvd sails were bad but it supposedly did well above average in The US and EU. Then there IS NGNL that hasn't even been finished for a full season yet. I suspect however with its action and randomness it will land itself around the same popularity in the US/EU as one of the following.......... Soul Eater, Neeldess, or Baka and Test I would say it would be more around the size of one of the first two (as Baka and Test was passed over by many casual viewers for things with more familiar and catchy names. I think that 'No Game No Life' is pretty catchy. Oh and before you say they do not care about us... bleach usually had rather poor sales in Japan (in comparison to other things that came out in the same anime season) but it did well enough in the US that it was able to keep going for well after it lost popularity in Japan. Oh sometimes they make things that are obviously targeted at america (Panty Stocking and Garterbelt (it was supposed to be an anime for america, that is why the animations look like a cartoon here) or Trigun (with its unique space western theme) is another perfect example of an anime that was made for an american audience
Love the anime - I rate by pure enjoyment. If it makes me want the next episode asap, I know it's a great anime. Seriously, for some anime that are regarded highly by many you have to motivate yourself to start the next episode. NGNL is one of the few anime that had me on the edge of my seat at the end of an episode. The last anime that did this was Code Geass. I can't rate an anime lower than 9/10 that gives me that feeling.
Anime Guru True that was a problem for me too, but afterwards I read the entire manga and it is so worth it. The anime stopped at roughly almost the first quarter of where the manga has gotten to, and now the Berserk movies are aiming to make the entire manga into a series to watch and the 4th movie is coming out maybe this year or early next year and shows stuff after where the original series ended (the third movie already moved past that point as well)
So, Arkada's theme song is the piano from "Libera Me to Hell", the glitchy sound effects he uses in his transitions are from Btooom!, his catchphrase: "Stay Frosty" is probably from the character Mimura in Battle Royale, and the only thing I don't get is the snapping. Roy Mustang?
Wow I would really give this anime a 6/10. Anything above a 7/10 seems a bit too much for me. It was entertaining but I guess I didn't find it as revolutionary as everyone else did. Fanservice annoyed me and characters were OP 90% of the time. Last 2-3 episodes were really difficult for me to watch. I just didn't feel very entertained. Although I loved it after the first 4 episodes it just started getting more boring and things moved way too quickly for me that I found it ridiculous too. Still had some smart scenes which were enjoyable to watch though.
I think the biggest reason for why I enjoy this (besides being able to identify with roughly 90% of the shit going on in the main character's head(s)) is that it's in a way similar to Sherlock Holmes. You always know that Sherlock will solve the case, right? But we still cherish every moment in which we get to experience Sherlock's superior intellect in action. I got the same vibe from this. I honestly hope they'll continue this, it doesn't even have to be animated I just want to see what else will happen because there's definitely not enough things with such literally genius characters in modern media. The only thing they need to fix is the ludicrous amount of anime bullshit they have like the archetype characters or pointless unnecessary hormone garbage (although I never saw that as that much of a problem since I know Sora isn't too serious about it) and this anime would be perfect. If I believed in numeric representations of complex opinions of a certain topic or object I'd rate this 10/10 purely for potential, but as of now I think it's simply a brilliant piece of much needed intelligent work with borderline negligible flaws.
I would like to mention that Siren Visual did release an English-speaking friendly version of Monster, complete in 5 dvd sets. A little expensive (though not Garden of Sinners expensive) but Monster is in turn an amazing anime. With this out could we expect a review of this soon? :D
This show is complete bullshit. I wanted to watch show which was claimed as the best anime of the year and yeah it looked so freaking cool I mean the animation was perfect but....the real thing was so damn bad it was even worse than second part of first sao season
I have spent the last three years watching anime and reading manga, I have been "bench watching" a bunch of these videos and some bring up so much memories and just hearing the sound track once again can make me tear up(this includes Toradora).Thank you for all the old memories. I going watch some more anime!
Beside the hideous fan service they had with his sister what made me full stop was when he beat the human princess in a game and essentially forced her to fall in love with him.creepy factor over 9000
It was actually addressed later in the anime but u weren’t paying attention so I’ll tell you. Sora told steph to fall in love with him, he did not explicitly tell her to stay in love with him.
I can understand why people wouldn't like this anime. It has some of the same problems that Sword Art Online has, what with the main characters having the ability to win every battle because fuck it, that's just who they are. However, that's not always a bad thing. UNLIKE Sword Art, the ride to the destination is quite enjoyable, like Arkada said. If you're looking for an anime that's going to blow you away with amazing plot twists, astounding characters, and some awesome fight scenes, well, watch Code Geass. However, if you're just looking for a good, exciting thrill ride, NGNL is definitely a contender. Whether it's "Best of 2014" worthy or not, that's not something I can say. But, I personally liked it quite a lot, and I'm excited for the next season... because... there's gonna be another season... right... RIGHT?
max payne I like sword art online but I am not going to watch this anime because I don't want to get attached to this anime and then feel empty in the end , but if ever finishes then I will watch it
I was surprised that you felt the soundtrack fell short, as I felt the soundtrack was surprisingly strong. Also, I don't know if this is the place to do it, but I recommend you watch and review Dream Eater Merry. It's...A hodgepodge of very good ideas mixed with things that make my blood boil, and I've never seen anyone really review it or discuss it.
I feel the same way about the soundtrack, I think the opening is catchy as hell and in a way quite epic, as for the rest of the soundtrack, it definitely caught my attention, when I started hearing what seemed like dubstep and freaking drum n' bass in the background I just had to look it up, very interesting
While I definitely appreciate your perspective on endings, it's also important not to go too far the other direction. At the risk of pissing off the fanboys, I cite Naruto. It's one thing to want new stories while waiting for the source material to move far enough along, but that shouldn't give carte blanche to produce an entire season made of nothing but filler, with little to no effort put towards character development. The balance point here is going their own way, like the original Fullmetal Alchemist. This still doesn't always work out, (Chrono Crusade, anyone?) but at the very least it doesn't feel like a copout.
you should envy me a bit. when i first tried anime no game no life whas my VERY FIRST anime ever. and like you my awnser to that question is no game no life and that awnser hast changed for around 3 years ;d
no offense but i think assassination clasroom is purified shit. for youre information. my style of anime might also digger ALOT i liked no game no life deathnote sword art online absolute duo (dont ask me why) vampire knight attack on titan akame ga kill shit load of awesome echis and highschool DxD.. god i love this anime ;D tho i can see why someone would be able to like assasination C room. kinda like someone that only plays action games and hates racing games but kinda gets why people like the racing games.
as for assasination class room look at my last comment. and yes i liked opm a lot (espec the musquito scene) and ive never watched mob psycho whats the setup? im always looking for new fun animes also only anime i thought somewhat rivaled ngnl are akame ga kill highschool DxD and MABEY vampire knight (just because im still waiting on the new anime season)
I dropped No Game No Life a phew seconds in due to that 11 year old’s panty shot. I really don’t like the constant sexualization of (usually female) characters in anime. It makes me feel as if the anime is explicitly meant for guys.
Hes right its more than worth a watch. Its like game of thrones. Yes there is a ton of nudity but if you were to get rid of it nothing would change. Its 12 episodes long and you will wish there were more
the only thing i really enjoyed a lot about this anime were Shiro and Sora, all the other characters (with the exception of Jibril a few times) felt boring and flat. also in a show revolving so heavily around these different games, they are often explained very poorly and left me wondering: wtf just happened? the world was pretty cool, but we've seen next to nothing thus far. fan service got silly. plot has potential, but hard to tell atm. i'd probably give it a light 7/10. (keep in mind i wrote this comment before watching the video pls dont lynch me)
Tyrent Den Well, Sora's the only brother in the series . . . and he almost did get erased from existence forever. He WAS erased completely for a few seconds there. Cut him some slack. Also, Jibril showing her completely beyond-racist murderous psychopath tendencies to everyone not Sora and Shiro is pretty hilarious. Cheers to the angel that once bumped her head on a barrier and nuked a city because of it.
GRArkada I have a (possible) solution for your problem with not being able to get the mangas in an honest way. It's good that you respect the creators of the stories you enjoy and that you want to pay for their work to support them. However, it IS very annoying to have to wait so long to get it legally and in my case the annoyance I had was with the One Piece manga which was like 2 years behind Japan. So, I would read the manga online, from fan-scans, and then I would buy it when it came out years later. I think you can adapt this to your own situation. Read the mangas online to find out the endings you so clearly desire, and then you just keep a list over what you've read and when it comes out in your country, THEN you buy it. You could consider it as if you're buying it on credit, to be paid for at a later time. And if it's never released in your country? Or maybe not even produced in Japan? Well, too bad. Maybe you can buy some other work of that artist to compensate.
wow. Can't believe I've never heard of you before. besides mentioning animes that I have never heard of, you break them down. Keep it up. Loved this video :3
If you say "stream it, don't buy it" because it's unfinished, in my view you're asking people to contribute to the main reason it won't get a secound season. I mean it needs to sell good enough!
I personally find it enjoyable. There are a lot of funny and memorable moments, not to mention it has a lot of game references if you're into that sort of thing. (I was mostly watching it for the series itself, and for Izuna.)
It sucks, the entire setting is shallow, and it consists of pandering to NEETs who have nothing going for them besides being able to play games. MC is overpowered. There's no sense of tension. There's nothing at stake.
On the website my anime list, the rating is 8.84/10! WTF IS THIS SHITTY RATING?!! That means that its one of the greatest anime of all-time!! That anime doesn't even deserve a higher rating than what Arkada gave. This really shows how some people don't know how to rate stuff and why SAO has been considered the best anime of all-time by some people.
I find people really, REALLY like to express their hate of SAO. The hate goes to the degree of detail to the point that it was pretty obvious they watched the whole thing really. Makes you wonder why they even do that if they hate it so much. And yeah, OMG people have opinions I don't agree with! wtf!
I've discovered you thanks to the conversation you had on twitter with alexelcapo I have to say the even when I just could understand maybe the 80% or maybe a bit less of the video (English it is not my main language), I've been able to get the most important things here. And I have to say that I've enjoyed it. You have a new subscriber! ^^ PS: Your pronutation is quite nice. Thanks to that I could understand much more!
For me, this is one of the worst animes ever. The story is interesting and the games as well, but however, out of that, the characters are stupid and make the pacing of the show irritating. To put an example, when the first chess match ended, the girl who they where fighting was quite intelligent but she became an stupid tsundere. And Steph... SHE MUST DIE. The animation is not bad, but SO MANY brightness even can hurt a bit. Actually I dropped it at episode 6, it was too boring and irritating. It's just my opinion, I don't want to offend anyone, but watching (the 6 episodes) of this show gave me cancer, maybe if it was more maturely made, without that stupid characters, fanservice and pacing it would've been awesome.
This' a comedy/ecchi anime. What were you expecting lol serious charcters? Realistic art? It does everything what it intend to do perfect. Does fanservice right, does comedy right and also has good plot.
there will be a movie sometime in 2017 as far as I know about the backstory of the world / the great war release date is not set but it is said to be in 2017 and hopefully that means there will also a season 2
No season 2 no life.
Jimmy Situ You get a movie... then maybe a season 2
Jimmy Situ lol

Me: That girl is quite cute
Arkada: She is eleven btw

No Game No Life second season announced after Half Life 3
ODDnanref 😩
ODDnanref just started watching this show
ODDnanref kinda waitin for the second season announcement be after the movies credits.. like they did with Overlord
Considering the video that came out some time ago, it’s Half Life More Than 2 Less Than 4
Should be about now.
Yea it is but it isnt at some parts
NintendoAndMusic1205 i watched both while the concepts are the similar the way they conduct their actions are different. I enjoyed NGNL way more.
I love _No Game No Life's_ animation style. At first, it hurt my eyes (too bright), but now I can take it and I love it.
Let's be honest, the OP was fucking incredible.
i have an answer for steph's IQ
steph is a steph
Lol my fav part in the whole anime 'You're just a Steph'
mine too
As silly as it is, that's exactly how you have to look at it.
She could not keep a poker face and can barely contain her tears.
..or not poker. I'm really not sure what game they played during the first episode.
I like how you do reviews without spoiling the show. Your reviews are actually really enjoyable and informative, and I've actually scrolled through your list of reviews looking for new shows to watch every now and then!
This is only my oppinion, No Game, No Life was an amazing anime. The only thing I disliked was the fanservice, that's it. The rest was AWESOME!
jayblade2000 I agree with you completely!
jayblade2000 What does a fanservice mean?
Clemens Something placed in the show for the sole purpose of appealing to fans, usually referring to something pornographic.
jayblade2000 There's nothing in the show but fanservice. And everyone knows it.
Jack Smith The music is fantastic and the plot/pacing is fantastic. The episode with Jibrill where they keep removing things until the atmosphere is missing was fucking clutch. But the fanservice was stupid.
The references and monologues made this an absolute thrill ride all spring long!
I owe you so much! As an adult I had gotten busy w life and not rlly been able to watch anime at all really. I found your channel and BOOM launched me back into anime even further than as a child. My wife may not be a fan but man my life is so much better literally all because of you! Keep it up
all these people saying this is the worst anime ever need to sit down and watch some terrible anime before they make their exaggerated claims.
*cough*School days*cough*
cough *any generic harem anime* cough
***** I usually don't like most of them. But I did enjoy dxd because it never took itself too seriously. I haven't watched HOTD though.
Samuel Sargunam Yes! Clannad!
Kira? Light Yagami?
+Filip Holm
Yeah, our god and savior.
+Fukuro - Pierce the Heavens So it was Light. Yeah i can kinda see the resemblence between them.
+Filip Holm
Wow, that was quick.
+Fukuro - Pierce the Heavens I usually reply pretty quickly:)
I couldn't watch past episode 4 because of how stupid it was. It was creepy as fuck with the relationship between the siblings and waay too much fan service. Did I mention it was ridiculously stupid?
But that's what I felt that was so good about NGNL. The fact it hardly takes itself seriously compared to a lot of animes today.
***** Sorry I just could not get past the stupid chest game episode. I could barely watch it without wanting to kill myself
Oh shite. I was hoping this was good... Let's see what Arkada says about it.
Bloody good opening song, tho
otaku pandering show ...not interested
.....plz never say fun like that again x.x
i agree, it was disturbing

Astral Souli think it was less the way he said it, and more the demented lunatic face he made with it
its was the best this i have ever heared/seen in my intire life (well life is long so not exacly but more or less i laughed)
I like how you carefully avoid calling the characters "overpowered"--because they very clearly are. ;)
Agreed especially in the last arc the timing for that shot was WAY too percise
OseiTheWarriors That's the charm of the show. Atleast for me.
AMVaddictionist Yes. Because it's so exciting when there's absolutely no tension because you know the main characters are always going to come out victorious no matter what.
DraconisMarchVII Its fun finding out how they do it
holly lea bierton With Deus ex Machina. Yeah! Those are really fun! =D
You know how in the BBC's more recent Sherlock adaptation he just sort of stares at everyday objects and white text flashes past him until he knows everything he needs to know but the audience is like "bitch whet?"
I get those kinda vibes from this show.
*****
Exactly. There's book smart, there's street smart, there's strategic, and there's tactical. 4 different ways of thinking. Most people are only capable of 1 or 2 patterns of thinking. 3's uncommon. All 4's rare.
*****
Yep. I'm not street smart, but I'm pretty proficient at the other 3. People ask "What, you think you're smart or something?". What do you think my response is? :3
*****
I'm capable of coming up with more brilliant strategies and such...
The fanservice in the show weirded me out a little too much to recommend it to anyone.. I mean the whole Shiro stuff got....really creepy at times.
Agreed. Great anime, little to much fanservice
Wait wait wait. You call that too much fanservice? All there was couple pantyshots and cesored nudity for 5 secs. (Batheing time) Realy, its pretty much standard now in any anime to have pantyshots. You want want to call something too much "fanservice" watch Highschool DxD or Highschool Of The Dead.
igniuxsas You forgot the special soap they have that definitely "doesn't" look like tentacles at all.
WolfyzP0W i've seen enough hentai to know where this is going.......ehehehehe
Hentai...
We Canadians are SO HARD DONE BY!!! Yay Arkada, ye fellow canuck!

Yep you can just tell he slays so much poon
well, that's just for showing purpose
Long Nguyen cringy ass purpose too
Nightneroun Cool, then don't watch it :)
Wait the anime ended? , Kill la kill & No Game No life are probably the best two animes in 2014 so far
What a low standard to be met...
Benjamin Vanhees Maybe not. Fate/stay night is yet to be released, it's likely to set the bar VERY high. 2014 may yet prove to be a good year.
Benjamin Vanhees low? i thought no game, no life was pretty good, oh well we all have opinions i guess
You obviously have not watched Mushishi Zoku Shou yet.
Blackburn0793 I think what he meant to say was not *Best two anime so far* but rather *Realy good shonen mainstream kinda stuff* Wich there where. But i have to say that maybe ive grown to old for this kind of anime so watching more seinen oriented anime like mushishi is far more interesting for me.
is it just me or does anyone think lelouch would do pretty good in that world of games.
Astral Soul That game with Jibril though... the amount that I want that game is on par with the battles from Ender's Game.
Astral Soul Totally worth though.
Basic summary of the faults in this series, more or less.
Well that's why Echi is one if its genre. Fanservice and all...
Thank you! I hated this show because of how much fanservice there was and how distracting it was. I don't care about fanservice in my anime, but the amount of time they spent on it and how much attention they called to it kinda made it feel like it was bordering porn.
+chcoman123 welcome to anime
Hauntor, The Giraffe Biscuit Welcome to shitty anime is more like it.
No Game No Life movie has been announced in 2017. Hype is real!
Supposedly IF(this IF is almost non-existent based on hype) the movie does well on the viewer count/buy count we just MIGHT see a 2nd season in 2018(?) *crosses fingers*
Wow
Hmm
Movie did great no tv sequel shame
Nah
My favorite spring season anime. I really hope they will make a 2nd season (which is possible since it is very popular).
Dude this anime is awesome! One of my favorites but they haven't said anything about a second season yet?
no they haven't but this anime was very popular in japan so it's possible that they will make a 2nd season.
We can only hope...
XD
It ended with a cliffhanger... it better have a second season
Also I hear the manga/light novel is far from being finished.
A second season is very likely.
HAVING FUN? I'M HAVING FUN!!!!!!
Why I haven't enjoyed NGNL:
-Lack of character development. We know ony that main characters are neet and they can't lose except their own normal life
-Main protagonist are annoying
-Humor in this show is realy bad, fanservice and shouting are not funny
-Fanservice
-Sora is pervert and neet
-Shiro is super smart, even though she can say only Nii-san
-They can't lose and say this all time
-Hype
-Wasted potential of intresting characters(Jibril)
-Cliffhanger
I agree for the most part
Shiro's flashback barely gave any devlopment (but I guess the LN has more content)
And yeah the "king of games" aspect is SO annoying almost all of their wins were close calls and too OP
How can you even enjoy anime in general if some of these are you criticism points (Hype, Fan service)?
AsianGuyTA No, believe me when Sora and Shiro pulled of alot of their stunts I really liked it the hype was so real, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they constantly say
"We planned this" when alot of their wins were close calls.
You know Blank never lose.
OseiTheWarriors yes, that might be true. But I think it's a bit too early to give this series a final verdict as ngnl (including LN's) is newly made. Thus, anything might change.
I like the opening to this anime, I feel like I could listen to it for a while and not get sick of it
if they came out with an extended version of the piano part, i would buy it, it's a great theme but it's over in 10 seconds.
skyhawk551 Check out the full length piano covers of the NGNL opening by AnimenzPianoSheets and TehIshter.
Tyler Kim I think the ED is even better, especially that mind trip they pull on you in episode 8!
I would love to see more love for the Princess though, she's got potential to be awesome, at least in social aspects where the MCs are inexperienced.
hi i have an IQ of 300, im a super ultra mensa. i can read ur mind also i can fly
+Sinons butt you have the most beautiful username
YESSSSSS
Arkada is scary when he's having fun.
you are god damn everywhere
commandergs That's physically impossible.
Its Morgan fucking freeman he played god remember he can be here
Morgan Freeman A little thing like physics shouldn't keep Morgan Freeman contained!!!
Exactly
Great review!
steph isnt an idiot. sora and shiro are just that smart.. they are trying to tell the viewers the gap of their intelligence
EnderKid DE As if it wasnt already aparent after a few episodes, it becomes a tiresome trope...
I liked the review but I don't understand how you couldn't find the music memorable. The opening song was fantastic and really catchy, I listen to it all the time. One of my personal favorite openings.
I absolutely agree. My friends and I all love the opening.
Yeah and the background music and the osts are really good and they go extremely well with the artwork
MasterTahir LordofNoobs bro my friend hates the op because he keeps saying it can’t beat jojo tho
I'm just gonna watch it because of that ace attorney reference, I don't even care.
You. I like your attitude

I do the same

This is easily the best anime of 2014. I'd be surprised and pissed if it didn't got a Season 2.
If you think this mediocre piece of shit is best in 2014 then you sure love shitty animes
I'm not agreeing with the op but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Ysarc don't let him get to you man you can like whatever doesn't matter what anyone says besides he's probably a shounen pleb
Cocosunder that doesn't mean anithing, if you make an anime, that doesn't mean that it should have every stereotype in it just because it's from japan
EmilianoAC1 tell that to the guys in japan who get a kick out of a brother sister relationship. i believe certain anime characters are supposed to be some what relatable so when its targeted at guys who as previously stated get a kick out of being called big bro it should be completely expected since its not much a stereotype
EmilianoAC1 Their step siblings.
I dropped the anime towards the end; too much mac guffin and "I knew that you'd knew that I knew that so..."
Should’ve watched the movie tho it was a masterpiece
OMG WHEN HE SAYS *she's 11 by the way* 😂
The best line from Steph:"WRYYYYYY"
Really driving home the quality when the best line ever said by a character is a reference.
The humor was probably the weakest point. Given the animation perks, you can probably look past the pretty mediocre script at times.
I really don't get what the big deal is about this anime. I mean it was okay but not great or awesome. I don't get why people are calling it, "The best anime ever" or "The best anime of 2014" if you ask me,it comes no where close to either one of these titles. I mean,it was mediocre at best.
Agreed, I honestly enjoyed Brynhildr in the Darkness more. That's just me tho
NintendoAndMusic1205 that 2nd intro tho o_O
I ❤__Trafalgar Law
It's simple really. When something is good, (which No game no Life certainly is - it just wasn't _that_ good) someone will always proclaim it to be the greatest thing in the world. I've noticed this holds true both on and off the internet.
I always makes sure to take any such remarks with a few grains of salt.
TheRealWinner77 lol, I like it more than the 2nd op of Death Note tho.
(the day after it was open to free users on CR I believe)
So much for a "read the manga" ending lol. The anime is ahead of the manga xD (it's based off of the light novels for anyone wondering)
NGNL light novel have 6 volumes thus far, the anime just covered the first three volumes.
Wow jack watches anime?
jjpm2428 I am aware of this?
Morgan Freeman What am I famous or something?
Yeah, I would have gave it a 7 as well. The show was fantastic, although Shiro's fanservice is ridiculous, but that ending was just so painful. I remember not being sure if I actually had just watched the ending or if there was another episode, but no, it was the ending. And it was just so fucking stupid.
Shiro? She's nothing compared to Steph
Radi Bear No, definitely not. But Shiro's age is what kills it for me in that case with the fanservice.
so it's been two years. can I watch this and have an ending yet?
+CraftKitty Probably isn't happening unfortunately
Still, what's with the fan-service complaint?
There is a reason why this anime is an ecchi
I loved this anime so much. I really like intelligent MC.
And the animation!!! Pure awesomeness.
my favourite anime :')
+Farah Ismail tae tae
Have you watched Log Horizon then?
Hello married to kookie, and nope, I havent watched it yet, too lazy :(
Mr. Arkada, I'm aspiring to be an animator some day. I already come up with my own stories, but I'd like to know...what are the ingredients for the absolute perfect story (assuming there is one)?
Good luck in your creations!
There are none.
There's no such thing as perfect.
Yeah man I know the feels...I'm planning on making a video game, came up with my one story and...yeah it always changes the pace.Don'no what's missing.
Benny Leo RIGHT???
***** I did... It was boring T.T
What do you guys mean they have nothing to lose? betting themselves their lives and an entire race shows they have nothing to lose? Da fudge
in terms of who they are? nothing really. a lot of the drama can be played for laughs and they're having fun.
Shiro*
Main male characters name is sora too.
Dennis Jemison You could have just edited the comment.
I know I had a derp moment.
Dennis Jemison i love it too 'bro fist', we are brothers my friend, ooooooooh i fangasm everytime i think about episode 5 and jibirl lol
will this anime be continued or does it just end like that
Ik man it was hilarious
It might be, there is more manga, it depends on the sales
i think i just saw clannad
It got high review and a great following so it's very likely!
hopefully its going to continue i really liked it
Correction the disturbing trend in anime is lolis, they have really no place but to be fan service.
Breton Charles
Everything you said: true
GogglesIndeed that maybe true but in almost every anime the cute child or loli is always sexualized and they may not be real but that doesn't make it anymore acceptable. older women can be cute to
you know this guys reviews never disappoint me keep it yo great work
I cheer for them and hope they win? Did anyone actually ever thought that those two would EVER and I mean EVER lose? They never even came close to losing because of some bullshit foreseeing of the o-so strategists aka the protagonist and his loli fanservice sister. No matter what happened, every time there was "some" tension in a game, Sora would just say that he had seen it coming all along and wins. No character development no real plot besides "challenging god to a game" and no real laugh out lout comedy. It was "ok" if you wanted to think about nothing for 20 minutes a week but that doesn't deserve nearly an 8/10.
My thoughts exactly. NGNL and SAO and all of their future clones are the anime equivalent of Call of Duty.
They beat God in the first ep, how could they lose to anyone else XD
Well, the story introduce us that Shiro/Sora aka Blank are unbeatable. So instead of 'Will they win?', it's now 'How will they win?'
I agree, these stupid "strategies" were just cheap
.
Huke Chong
Kurami actually somewhat lampshades that all of Sora's plans rely on nearly perfect execution to work and are generally rather insane.
She makes a good point really. Most of the time they try to predict like 100 moves ahead before they even show up to the venue. Heck, they weren't even 100% sure what the game WAS for the last game the anime showed until they got there, and they were already preparing to set up the plan.
There is also this anime if you are looking for a good recommendation, with some similar themes (as in being thrown into another world, and also games and stuff)
Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo?
(Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren't They?)
yet another show to add to my
"Maybe ill get around to watching this at some point" list.
Ikr I loved that part too!
True, but the only good Yu-Gi-Oh is nothing but Duel Monsters. Remember, only one incarnation of that show is any good.
Shaun Gibson Oh, I meant the part in No Game, No Life. The game with the wordplay.
So I wasn't the only person who watched Yugioh season zero?! I'd love to see Arkada review it.
I really appreciate these reviews, I usually watch your review before actually watching a new anime, and I highly value your opinion. The only thing I wish is that you'd ad a "If you liked this, then you'll LOVE..." section at the end.
I.E. If you like Future Diary then you'll like Deadman Wonderland, Puella Magi, Dangaronpa, ect
(Specifically, give me more ideas what like This and Puella!!! I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed)
Other than this, I love you dude. My kid sister turned me onto you, and you're hilarious and intelligent.
Aja Linda He does have that section at the end of every video. He doesn't use those exact words, but he always recommends similar anime to the one he reviews.
But not enough :(
Aja Linda
..... o.O
This is a low ball rating. Best series of the last couple years.
ReyReysLoL Completely agree. It was pretty average for the hype that it got. If anything, mahouka was better except for all the "oni-sama"s.
gccomics777 the "oni-sama"s really annoyed me A LOT
ARE YOU ITALIAN? IS THAT WHY YOU TALK WITH YOUR HANDS? >;)
He's Canadian
Jonamonszx Because there's no such thing as Italian-Canadian.
Didn't know Italians and Canadians talk with their hands
DerBegginBlue
Hand-racism lol! It's just a joke.
With the popularity of Btooom and NGNL sequels will almost definitely come. Especially for Btooom that has so many more volumes out now. A new season would give a boost to the sails of the newer issues.
was Btooom actually popular in Japan? I have heard (rumors only, obviously) that the anime didnt do that well
Yes the dvd sails were bad but it supposedly did well above average in The US and EU. Then there IS NGNL that hasn't even been finished for a full season yet. I suspect however with its action and randomness it will land itself around the same popularity in the US/EU as one of the following.......... Soul Eater, Neeldess, or Baka and Test
I would say it would be more around the size of one of the first two (as Baka and Test was passed over by many casual viewers for things with more familiar and catchy names.
Oh sometimes they make things that are obviously targeted at america (Panty Stocking and Garterbelt (it was supposed to be an anime for america, that is why the animations look like a cartoon here) or Trigun (with its unique space western theme) is another perfect example of an anime that was made for an american audience
xblazex1514x btooom still needs a bit more chapters as the anime adapted 50 chapters. plus we never know as it is madhouse.
Yeah......... Madhouse.
Madhouse.... Why you always drop animes?
xblazex1514x Madhouse needs to get on that Ippo season 4
Notes to people who don't know what song is playing in the background from 4:50 onwards, it's "Bias Hacker" from the same album as the ED "Oracion"
Have you reviewed Berserk yet?
Nope
max101victory He probably should even though we all know that it's awesome
Jordan Holt i didnt like the anime because of where it stopped
Anime Guru True that was a problem for me too, but afterwards I read the entire manga and it is so worth it. The anime stopped at roughly almost the first quarter of where the manga has gotten to, and now the Berserk movies are aiming to make the entire manga into a series to watch and the 4th movie is coming out maybe this year or early next year and shows stuff after where the original series ended (the third movie already moved past that point as well)
Jordan Holt he doesnt review anything shounen jumpish related im guessing
it is great anime
and i love anime with ending but i hate when it end....
Yes. Your highness!
All hail Lelouch!
Tebogo Seshibe or should you say, your EYEness?
0megaLatios that was terrible, get out
(just kidding you can stay, dont kill me eheheehe ._.)
Sora & Shiro 2 OP plz nerf
Loli fan service is NOT okay.
joseph carreras of course. just don't make them the subject of fan service and/or relationships.
joseph carreras It's a law of nature
People keep saying that, but since lolis show up so commonly, they must be liked by a bigger audience than anyone will admit.
tehandroidmaster There can't be much of a taboo about it in Japan, because it happens so often.
Loli fanservice is completely fine, as long as they are legal. Of course, that is not the case for Shiro, but still.
THAT YUGIOH REFERENCE XD
Where?
You should do Nisekoi.
dospy1 I second Nagi no Asukara
But, I personally liked it quite a lot, and I'm excited for the next season... because... there's gonna be another season... right... RIGHT?
Loved Sword art Online, hated this
max payne I like sword art online but I am not going to watch this anime because I don't want to get attached to this anime and then feel empty in the end , but if ever finishes then I will watch it
I'm not saying it's bad to like Sword Art, I actually like it a lot. But if you look at it objectively it doesn't compare well to other anime.
kirito's wins rely solely on levels and XP grinding , as he said in an mmo if your levels are high enough you are basically invincible .
Please review a BAD anime that you have seen before. Something you recommend to keep AWAY from
Are you a sadist or something?
he's done a few of those
koshoshlolz
Yeah... School Days, for one..... *shudders*
Neko Yuki No I just keep running into crappy anime
koshoshlolz Oh...ok!
10:23 - 10:27 reference to Yu-Gi-Oh? Ya I think so lol
Others : What's the best Anime you've watched?
Me : No Game No Life.
I haven't changed that answer in the past two years.
you should envy me a bit.
when i first tried anime no game no life whas my VERY FIRST anime ever.
and like you my awnser to that question is no game no life and that awnser hast changed for around 3 years ;d
watch assassination classroom. Its realy good. And i cried at the end...
Assasination classroom, opm and mob psycho 100 are the only anime/manga to ever rival NGNL in my eyes
no offense but i think assassination clasroom is purified shit.
for youre information. my style of anime might also digger ALOT i liked
no game no life
deathnote
sword art online
absolute duo (dont ask me why)
vampire knight
attack on titan
akame ga kill
shit load of awesome echis
and highschool DxD.. god i love this anime ;D
tho i can see why someone would be able to like assasination C room.
kinda like someone that only plays action games and hates racing games but kinda gets why people like the racing games.
as for assasination class room look at my last comment.
and yes i liked opm a lot (espec the musquito scene)
and ive never watched mob psycho whats the setup? im always looking for new fun animes
also only anime i thought somewhat rivaled ngnl are
akame ga kill
highschool DxD
and MABEY vampire knight (just because im still waiting on the new anime season)
tbh I keep rewatching this review. It's such a perfect analysis of this show. I hope to see you cover the new NGNL movie coming out soon.
I dropped No Game No Life a phew seconds in due to that 11 year old’s panty shot. I really don’t like the constant sexualization of (usually female) characters in anime. It makes me feel as if the anime is explicitly meant for guys.
Lol it's really good tho ignoring the fs
Hes right its more than worth a watch. Its like game of thrones. Yes there is a ton of nudity but if you were to get rid of it nothing would change. Its 12 episodes long and you will wish there were more
Its even worse when the constant sexualization is that of a CHILD. Im glad im not the only one that was disgusted
the only thing i really enjoyed a lot about this anime were Shiro and Sora, all the other characters (with the exception of Jibril a few times) felt boring and flat. also in a show revolving so heavily around these different games, they are often explained very poorly and left me wondering: wtf just happened? the world was pretty cool, but we've seen next to nothing thus far. fan service got silly. plot has potential, but hard to tell atm. i'd probably give it a light 7/10. (keep in mind i wrote this comment before watching the video pls dont lynch me)
oh yeah the references were awesome too
Well... I liked Jibril. The brother could die in a fire for all I care,

Well, Sora's the only brother in the series . . . and he almost did get erased from existence forever.

I have a (possible) solution for your problem with not being able to get the mangas in an honest way.
Alright, I'll ask... Should I watch NGNL? I do have other anime I want to see, but I was just thinking about adding this to the list.
I personally find it enjoyable. There are a lot of funny and memorable moments, not to mention it has a lot of game references if you're into that sort of thing. (I was mostly watching it for the series itself, and for Izuna.)
watch it. you'll either hate it or love it. it gets kinda weird but overall is a GREAT anime and a fun ride... that will NEVER have a season two..
It is great, even for people who dont nessisarily like ecchi it is still good
there's a lot more to it than ecchi. and at least this ecchi isn't too over the top, tho it pushes as far as it can i suppose, lol
You must be new to MAL. 8.84 is great for that site. Every show is downvoted on that website like mad and to break past the 8.00 mark is impressive.
XReneGadEr He knows. He's saying it doesn't deserve an 8.84.
OMG I can't, and i mean CANNOT, believe people actually have differing opinions!
I find people really, REALLY like to express their hate of SAO. The hate goes to the degree of detail to the point that it was pretty obvious they watched the whole thing really. Makes you wonder why they even do that if they hate it so much.
And yeah, OMG people have opinions I don't agree with! wtf!
Go to a Chinese or Japanese website and look up the rating and compare to the rating on an English web site!
PS: Your pronutation is quite nice.
"The characters are stupid and make the pacing of the show WORSER"
Oh the irony....
This' a comedy/ecchi anime. What were you expecting lol serious charcters? Realistic art? It does everything what it intend to do perfect. Does fanservice right, does comedy right and also has good plot.
Please tell more, I am thoroughly interested, oh wait I don't care about your opinion, oh BTW no offense.
owain97 If you don't like it don't watch it that's why it has ecchi tag. If fanservice is not your thing you should pass every anime with ecchi tag.

Opinion, although I am also not a huge fan of it, neither does it bother me.
