I think my favorite part about this channel is opening my eyes to anime that went under my radar. Like Ive never even heard of dungeon people, but it's arkada so I know I can trust the recommendation.
Really barely watched anything this year as my attention was always elsewhere. Just have to say, though, that I really do appreciate Arkada's approach to lists like this. I love that he's always apprehensive about commending unfinished shows too highly, and that he's not afraid to sometimes put his own personal favourites above things that may not be commonly agreed upon as The Best. This is HIS list after all and, whether you agree or not, you always know he's giving his own take.

thank you so much for mentioning Tonari no Youkai-san. It, together with DunMeshi is probably my favorite new show of the year and I've seen practically nobody talk about it. Also, it is very similar to Natsume's Book of Friends, which is my 3rd favorite show of all time, so I'm probably a bit biased
Great video Arkada! 🩵 So happy to see Delicious in Dungeon on the list! really loved it and I’m looking forward to watching more anime from this list Have a Merry Christmas! 🎄❄️

DanDaDan is my Anime of the year, simply for that fact that it got me back into Anime big time. No show in years made me want to watch Anime again this much.
Um... Galileo Galilei? It may not have been as bad as the show portrays it, but the Church still did persecute people for a lot of things so I can take a show that takes that and applies it to heliocentrism for the sake of the narrative
No, the Church persecuted anyone who thought differently than they told the people to think. Ask the Jews and the Muslims. And yeah, ask Galileo. The Church tried to possess all knowledge as a method of controlling the masses. Hence the name of the era, The Dark Ages.
Did you ever end up giving Unwanted Undead Adventurer a try? I recall it was missing from your winter 2024 list and I was kind of interested in your opinion on it.
@@LynnHermione Why does it have to be accurate, the book never promotes itself as aligning with history, so why does it matter? In fact *spolier alert* Later in the manga they do touch up on how the church didn't actually ban the study of astronomy. So why does ppl have to say that it's not historically accurate. The manga is not meant to teach you history and that's not even the show's focal point anyway. It simply uses historical background to focus on humanity's pursuit of truth and the view on faith/beliefs.
I never comment, on any videos, but by god thank you so much for having dungeon people on this list. I loved that show so much for no reason I could explain and I am so glad to hear other people felt the same as me.
My top 5 for this year for new shows: 5 Garden of Remembrance 4 Shoushimin Series 3 Train to the End of the World 2 Blue Box 1 Girls Band Cry sequels/remakes/others: 5 Haikyuu Battle at the Garbage Dump 4 Spice and Wolf 3 Monogatari Off- and Monster Season 2 Nier Automata S2 1 Sound Euphonium S3 (
I was happy seeing Orb in the thumbnail. The music is my favorite every episode I listen to the opening&ending. With dandandan I'll listen to the opening a few times but usually skip it to watch the anime but orb I love the music. Latest episode was nice drop a nice timeline data.
Next year has walpurgisnacht Rising, witch hat atelier, the summer hikaru died, CITY the animation (closest to nichijou season 2 we'll get), steel ball run (delusion), and many seasons 2 of amazing shows. I'm excited for next year!
Dang my hero academia had arguably its best season since back when it was in the golden age of its anime and we still cant get no recognition from any of these youtubers 😭
My favorite show this year is hibike euphonium s3 I binged the whole show this year and i really really enjoyed the first 2 seasons but man the 3rd and final season was just something special all the characters were payed off just incredibly and the ending was just something special satisfying i fucking love this show
My absolute favorite this year was I Parry Everything. Yes it’s not good but for some reason I rewatched it instead of finishing Dandadan. I’ve rewatched it three times. It’s “nice guy wish fulfillment” but it perfectly scratched my junk food itch. The year previous I loved Handyman Saito in another world and it has similar vibes for me.
Thank god you mentioned Youkai san. Between Insomniacs, Youkai, and Yofukashi, Liden has actually been on a decent run lately. They do vibes extremely well. My list: 10. Gushing over Magical Girls 9. Train to the End of the World 8. Grandma and Grandpa Turn Young Again 7. Girls Band Cry 6. Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night 5. Dandadan 4. Orb 3. Giji Harem 2. Youkai 1. Shoshimin Series If we're including sequels, 1 gets replaced by Monogatari, 3 gets replaced by Oshi no Ko, Konosuba 3 replaces Jellyfish, and Hibike 3 replaces Girls Band Cry Overall an insanely good year imo. Lots of great stuff.
I think the final couple episodes of Yatagarasu pulled the second half together a lot. It ended up being my No 2 of the year, and I do recommend finishing it if you have the chance.
I respect your take, and I honestly get your gripe with Yatagarasu (Underrated as fuck btw). But personally I love the switch up and two entirely different kinds of feels we got with the first and second half. Where the first half is about court intrigue (Something which is interesting if done right but felt a bit samey after Apothecary Diaries just finished) the second half is very much a switch up to a detective/adventure following someone else than the first half as main character. Normally I would not like such a switch up and I'd prefer the show to stay consistent and pick one or the other. However, with this show I personally thought it was done very well and added a lot to the world building and definitely the story of it all. I LOVED *[Sorta spoiler - start]* how the anime ended on a big cliffhanger. I am genuinely hoping for a second season that will answer some of the questions and hopefully resolve some of the major plots going on. *[Sorta spoiler - end]* All I can say is that I understand where you're coming from and I understand the show is definitely not for everybody, but I would highly advice people to give it at least a try. The start can be confusing and lore-dump-ish but it all falls in place as the show progresses.
Dungeon People is a tough pick to defend for me and there are others that I disagree with (especial dan da dan placement). BUT.... I do not watch a best anime list to know which anime is better, I can figure it out on my own, I watch Arkada's list to learn about hidden gems I miss every year. GR did an amazing job this year and I am now on my way to check out Yatagarasu. Good Job and keep it up!!!!
Guess for me it's kinda easy, as I base my picks on when series end. After all, I've been told many times that the ending is paramount! And thus: Frieren it is! As for the rest of the list....that's gonna be a bit more difficult....Dungeon Meshi sure is a contender, as are Undead Unluck, Kaiju No.8 and Spice & Wolf. Maybe Dandadan, though the rather random ending left me rather unsatisfied with that one. And Orb would obviously be, if not for the fact that it is still ongoing and will thus have to wait....just like Frieren last year.
At first glance, my top 10 of new 2024 (only) animes (not fond of ordering): 1. Delicious in Dungeon 2. Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night 3. Girls Band Cry 4. I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History 5. Kaijuu 8-gou 6. Yatagarasu 7. Wistoria: Wand and Sword 8. Dungeon People 9. Villainess Level 99 10. TsumaSho I have been planning to try Dandadan for a while, but I have been postponing because of my love/hate relationship with Science Saru's shows (my last try was a strong hate). Probably soon though, with the break of the end of the year coming. Orb is in a delicate position, as I have had the manga sitting in my library for 6 months, waiting to be read. My top 10 of 2024 sequels: 1. Hibike! Euphonium 2. Oshi no Ko 3. Spice and Wolf 4. The Dangers in My Heart 5. Bleach 6. Yuru Camp 7. Mushoku Tensei 8. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime 9. DanMachi 10. Monogatari
OK I feel mostly the the same about Dungeon People but only because it's very easy to consume. It does noot stress you it does not hurt, it just makes you curious how dark this show will get and I think for that to kick in a satisfying way, to sould have had more episodes.
There's a few anime on this list I've been wanting to get around to, but either haven't started or haven't completed because... well, time is finite. Priorities were made. Hopefully 2025 provides more time.
Dungeon People really was/is the best anime of the year. I never watch a series more then once, back to back, but for Dungeon People I watched it in it's entirety three times. BACK TO BACK. Don't ask me why because I can't explain it.
Keep being you no matter what others say! Shows are supposed to be enjoyable, nothing wrong about having Dungeon People as #1 if you enjoyed it more than the others and I know you have reasons beyond "I liked it". I always credit you with having good taste and I agree it was a generally good show, sometimes elements come together to make "magic" that are hard to elucidate without becoming pedantic. Dungeon Meshi was great too...
Solid list, several shows I was curious about but never quite got to and a few that I'd never heard of but wish I had. Was cool to see my cuddly/feel-good show of the year, Ramen Akaneko, show up and so highly too! The only thing that kind of surprised me was SLF not even getting an honorable mention-it's a bit shallow, unfortch, and I think they went overboard on how much they leveled the main protagonist, but still fun and brilliantly animated. Strangely enough I put it in a similar category to DangeonMeshi in terms of what I'm drawn to-very different shows with slightly underdeveloped characters and lore that is hinted at but still unclear and dangling like a carrot (though Dungeon definitely does both better). The other show that kind of hit me hard, but that I didn't finish (not because it was bad, but was veering into the kind of character drama I wasn't in the mood for), was My Happy Marriage. Can we say Netflix cooked this year with its licensing choices? Would that the Disney guys put in the effort, instead of...whatever it is they think they're doing. On that note, I have to mention Girls Band Cry. This should have been a smash hit here and they were completely done dirty with the licensing. To date only 3D show I've watched to the end, great music, good character moments if, well, soapy (even for an anime). Waiting for decent fansubs to drop and watch like two weeks too late was probably the most full-of-anticipation I'd been each week, and while I wouldn't call it my number one, it's gotta be up there. Anyway thanks for the vid, I was kind of disappointed with this year show-wise but this really brought home just how much we actually got and how good we had it. Kudos!
The singer in the op in Orb was familiar. Found out it was Sakanaction. My personal favorite band that did their first anime song it seems. Orb is great.
Really thought you'd mention A Sign of Affection, it was a standout for me. Also, yes DanDaDan is my number one, but I'm also a manga reader and am biased af.
Thanks for this. I loved Dungeon People too, though maybe not my best of year ;) . Comedy-wise, after _Tis time for Torture,_ I'd really recommend _Demon Girl next door._ Some laugh out loud moments.
For some reason I can't get into DanDaDan. Feels like it should check every box for me but when I watch it, I just feel nothing. I really agree about Dungeon Meshi setting up stakes that feel serious despite lots of levity and charm. I'll have to give Dungeon People a chance. And finally, I appreciate a fellow Rem stan lol
Oh yeah, I forgot Dungeon Meshi was this year. Good chance season 2 will finish it off, or they'll make a movie out of the ending. My pick starts with Dan, but I've been reading the manga for a while now so I'm biased. Also haven't really watched anything else this year.
Guess I gotta watch Dungeon People now. I was on the fence about it at the time and didn't watch. Dungeon Meshi and Frieren instantly became top 5s for me. Made in Abyss still my top 1 tho. My top this year: Dungeon Meshi Frieren Re Zero s3 Mushoku Tensei s2 Shangrila Frontier s2 MahoAko
Justice for Yatagarasu!!! While the 1st half is unquestionably better (the mid season finale is indeed wild) to me the 2nd half wasn't bad, just suffers in comparison, and the end left me desperate for more. It's worth giving it a chance for sure!
Tonari and Yatagarasu were absolutely hidden standouts of the year, great to see them represented! (Even if I agree that the first half of Yatagarasu was stronger, but the second half was still better than a majority of other shows this year imo). Also, How I Attended an All Guys Mixer is such a ridiculous ride where every character is a complete mess 😂 Asagi and Fuji are just absolutely unhinged. The only anime on this list that I didn’t absolutely love was Ramen Akaneko, and that’s probably because it’s the only one I haven’t actually watched. The OP is vibes though.
No one should judge any given person's personal best/favorites list but sadly people do. My criteria for my own end of year lists is basically completely new Anime so no 2nd seasons or spin offs that use the same characters from the original, and no movies (because they deserve to not be compared to series). That established, this is my list. 10) The Elusive Samurai 9) Orb: On the Movements of Earth (has room to rise but I am not caught up on it) 8) Girls Band Cry 7) Blue Box 6) A Sign of Affection 5) Kaiju No. 8 4) Wind Breaker 3) Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines 2) Delicious in Dungeon 1) Dan Da Dan There were plenty of remakes and sequel seasons that I could slot into this list, but as far as new Anime series this year go, these were my 10 favorites. Dan Da Dan kind of just spoke to me as someone who had been burned and not loved many of the super hyped up new Battle Shonen style anime in the last decade (Demon Slayer, JJK, Tower of God). It was just my favorite out of a really good year for Battle Shonen with Wind Breaker and Kaiju No. 8 quickly becoming some of my favorites in recent memory as well along with Chainsaw Man. Dungeon Meshi was excellent though I wish it had come out later in the year as opposed to early when Frieren was still airing just because I ended up unconsciously and unfairly comparing my enjoyment of each of these series with Frieren winning out more often than not. The world building is the star of the show for me in this one. I love the dungeon as a character itself. Makeine and its subversion of the rom com genre was such a breath of fresh air, wonderfully heartfelt, and beautifully animated. In a year that for me had some strong romance oriented shows like Blue Box and A Sign of Affection, Makeine was a cut above. The character writing surpasses Blue Box and the balance of drama and comedy vaults it ahead of the more grounded A Sign of Affection. Orb is great but I am waiting to watch it in installments because their are multiple story arcs in this show and I want to be able to see the story as a whole. It could climb as high as Number 3 when all is said and done, but for right now, I can't have it higher than objectively great series that I finished. Girls Band Cry is solid and entertaining with great music, actually solid 3D animation, and interesting character writing, but my biggest issue and the reason it isn't higher on my list is that the main character frustrates me and none of the other supporting lead characters rose above the level of really good for me. Objectively though, this is a very good musical show with solid writing, but Bocchi the Rock level, this show is not. The Elusive Samurai is objectively the simplest of all the action oriented Shonen I watched this year, but it is for the most part well animated and brimming with personality. I cannot honestly say I enjoyed many other shows this year over it and although it is definitely not as complex as the other shows in my top 10, sheer enjoyment, animation, and the likability of its cast get it a place on my list.
The second half of Dungeon meshi is so good Trigger only has to adapt it directly to have a VERY strong AOTY contender. The manga had me almost screaming from pure stress sometimes... 😰but at the same time the jokes also kept getting better.
As I get older, I'm appreciating manga that get in, tell their story, and get OUT. No need to pad it out to get hundreds of chapters. This is probably why I enjoyed Demon Slayer so much, and now Dungeon Meshi. Frieren will be forever my love and I will never abandon it, but wow, I'm loving these shorter manga that are coming out. That said, I have really enjoyed the 'dungeon design competition' arc in Reincarnated as a Slime, so I'll check out your #1!
Okay, so... about Re:Zero. It's good, beyond just the girls, or the characters. Don't get shortsighted just because Rem isn't in the series anymore. I was one of those diehard Rem defenders back in the day but Re:Zero is still just way too good even without her. (Read the Rem:IF if you just really want Rem.)
I know you're not a personal fan of the Monogatari franchise (Even though Bakemonogatari is the anime that broke your older rating system! ;-) ), but for those who DO follow Monogatari, Off-season and especially Monster-season were excellent, especially from “A Cruel Fairy Tale” on, where they get back to what I call the “hopeful tragedy” of Princess Acerola/Kiss-shot/Shinobu and Koyomi Araragi.
I spent the entire video wondering how Dungeon People didn't make it in 10th slot. I mean, I get it. Somehow, it's the only show in the top 10 that I finished. Some like Orb, Dungeon Meshi, and Dan Da Dan, because I read the manga and they just weren't the kind of thing I wanted to re experience.
Man, I really wish I could agree with you on frieren. I really do. It has beautiful animation, lovely themes, and fun action, but it just wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. The beginning of the show made it seem like it would be a poignant narrative that reminisced on life and the value of human experiences, but it just became default shonen by the end. When it started, I was under the impression it would be aria but fantasy with beautiful art, but it just became every shonen you've ever seen. Just more power scaling and long side quest arcs that accomplish barely anything. I desperately wish I enjoyed it as much as you because what I wanted out of it is in there somewhere.
Hmm, I didn't get that feel from it, but understand it if you got sick of that whole testing arc thing, which did go hard on battle stuff (a bit less so in the dungeon section, but still). It seemed to me almost like a spin-off, but the heart of the story didn't actually change, just took a bit of a backseat. If there aren't more of the human moments in the sequel though, I'll be gravely disappointed.
Whole exam arc really brought it incredibly down for me. I just wanted the journey to continue with the new cast and parallels/remembrance of old times. Whole arc seemed pointless, especially with how much time the show dedicated to the side characters who no one cares for.
@@db.1304 Agreed, a hundred percent. It could have easily been cut down to two episodes instead of ten. The problem, though, is the pacing wasn't better in the manga, and the following content is similarly filled with meandery sidequests that take way too long.
DanDaDan is the frieren of this year, killing a Master Piece that dared to air in the same season (Orb) How many people didnt watch Orb, just 'cos DanDaDan popularity is so overwhelming? Love DanDaDan thought
I think slime has the problem that even the source material is quite… long. There’s a fair bit of meetings in the novels as well, just that they don’t really stick out as much as in the anime, which was a slog to get through.
This tells me how weak these stories are this year and how bad a year it was when Dungeon People tops the chart over Dungeon Meshi. 😂 I grew bored of Dungeon People, might finish it. Definitely was good but I didn’t understand the theme. Dungeon Meshi tried to be Made in Abyss, which I did felt it failed and I dropped it. As it moved so much slower and just made characters I did not like to push food wars theme only for consequences to come 20 episodes later. Not worth my time. At least Dan Da Dan moves the story and transitions arcs and has lot of fun lore they filled in. Great world building. Which is best of 2024 for me. Just goes to show how amazing Frieren is, as it competed head to head weekly release with Apothecary Diaries and had so many more amazing anime in it calendar and still took the throne last year and could easily take throne this year with half the episodes alone. 😮 Jobless reincarnation, wrong way to use healing magic, zom 100, Oshi no Ko, ongoing Bleach, ongoing Demon Slayer, Heavenly Delusion, Solo Leveling, Dangers in My Heart, 2023 was wild.
Some of my top anime of the year in no particular order: Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Oblivion Battery Jellyfish can’t swim in the night Look back Senpai is an otokonoko Dandadan How I attended an all-guy’s mixer Nina the starry bride Wind breaker A sign of affection
I feel like delicious in dungeon would be better with the slowly digested sister premise. If they want a slow burn, episodic wacky show were none of the characters act like there is any urgency. Don't have your maim plot have a devastating time limit.

Dungeon People WAS actually quite amazing for what it is. Not my #1, but top 10 of the year 100%. It had a charm I havent seen in a while.
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING YATAGARUS IN YOUR LIST! Seriously, this anime is so good but no one ever talks about it.
Orb Is by far the most underrated anime this whole year and deserves more recognition i hope your video shines a light on it its #`1 on my list :D

Internet is so disagreeable generally, outrage is incentivized. Thanks for making YOUR list.
Im so glad more people is talking about Orb!
It’s really really good. Seems to be flying under the radar mostly too.
@@kuragedaisuki244 It is a rather heavy show; comparing its weight and writing to that of Monster is appropriate.
Sad they arent talking about how it is not historically accurate
@@LynnHermione Why does it have to be accurate, the book never promotes itself as aligning with history, so why does it matter? In fact *spolier alert*
Later in the manga they do touch up on how the church didn't actually ban the study of astronomy.
So why does ppl have to say that it's not historically accurate. The manga is not meant to teach you history and that's not even the show's focal point anyway. It simply uses historical background to focus on humanity's pursuit of truth and the view on faith/beliefs.
at a perfect time for me to watch anime during the break! thank you so much
Crunchyroll rant, based
I mean. Steam, Sony, Spotify etc all do year end wraps. It's not weird
I never comment, on any videos, but by god thank you so much for having dungeon people on this list. I loved that show so much for no reason I could explain and I am so glad to hear other people felt the same as me.
Still considering rezero a waifu war in big 2024… god damn
YESSIRRR Love the Dungeon People rep!!!!! It's such a comfortable show~
My top 5 for this year for new shows:

Damn essay.
@@Haigen6 what can I say, I just love the show xD
@@animusswtor4822 your love looks very genuine
Im surprised no-ones talking about The Ellusive Samurai, easily in my top 3!
I was happy seeing Orb in the thumbnail. The music is my favorite every episode I listen to the opening&ending. With dandandan I'll listen to the opening a few times but usually skip it to watch the anime but orb I love the music. Latest episode was nice drop a nice timeline data.
Did not expect that number 1 but it would be in my top 10 as well. Every friday i could not wait for the new episode to drop
As usual one of ma guys who knows stuff❤😊
Thank god my favourite anime guy who's fav anime is also made in abyss discovered orb and has put it in the best anime list of 2024
"Orb" has a link cable in my mind to speedrunning at GDQ. Whenever I hear it, someone in my memory yells out "Orb!" in my mind's ear.
Next year has walpurgisnacht
Rising, witch hat atelier, the summer hikaru died, CITY the animation (closest to nichijou season 2 we'll get), steel ball run (delusion), and many seasons 2 of amazing shows. I'm excited for next year!
Dang my hero academia had arguably its best season since back when it was in the golden age of its anime and we still cant get no recognition from any of these youtubers 😭
My favorite show this year is hibike euphonium s3
I binged the whole show this year and i really really enjoyed the first 2 seasons but man the 3rd and final season was just something special all the characters were payed off just incredibly and the ending was just something special satisfying i fucking love this show
My absolute favorite this year was I Parry Everything.
My list:
10. Gushing over Magical Girls
9. Train to the End of the World
8. Grandma and Grandpa Turn Young Again
7. Girls Band Cry
6. Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night
5. Dandadan
4. Orb
3. Giji Harem
2. Youkai
1. Shoshimin Series
If we're including sequels, 1 gets replaced by Monogatari, 3 gets replaced by Oshi no Ko, Konosuba 3 replaces Jellyfish, and Hibike 3 replaces Girls Band Cry
Overall an insanely good year imo.
*[Sorta spoiler - end]*
All I can say is that I understand where you're coming from and I understand the show is definitely not for everybody, but I would highly advice people to give it at least a try.
Very........interesting take on a yearly recap that practically every app does
Guess for me it's kinda easy, as I base my picks on when series end.
At first glance, my top 10 of new 2024 (only) animes (not fond of ordering):
1. Delicious in Dungeon
2. Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night
3. Girls Band Cry
4. I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History
5. Kaijuu 8-gou
6. Yatagarasu
7. Wistoria: Wand and Sword
8. Dungeon People
9. Villainess Level 99
10. TsumaSho
I have been planning to try Dandadan for a while, but I have been postponing because of my love/hate relationship with Science Saru's shows (my last try was a strong hate). Probably soon though, with the break of the end of the year coming.
Orb is in a delicate position, as I have had the manga sitting in my library for 6 months, waiting to be read.
My top 10 of 2024 sequels:
1. Hibike! Euphonium
2. Oshi no Ko
3. Spice and Wolf
4. The Dangers in My Heart
5. Bleach
6. Yuru Camp
7. Mushoku Tensei
8. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
9. DanMachi
10. Monogatari
LETS GOO DUNGEON PEOPLE IS COMFY AS FUCK
I would finish Yatagarasu. Its end has a similar rug pull to episode 13.
Let haters hate, but Blue Lock my favorite. And the new Ranma show too.
OK I feel mostly the the same about Dungeon People but only because it's very easy to consume.
It does noot stress you it does not hurt, it just makes you curious how dark this show will get and I think for that to kick in a satisfying way, to sould have had more episodes.
I know it was slipped between seasons but did you get a chance to watch DEAD DEAD DEMONS Dededestruction Arkada?
There's a few anime on this list I've been wanting to get around to, but either haven't started or haven't completed because... well, time is finite. Priorities were made. Hopefully 2025 provides more time.
Well you convinced me to try watch frieren.
18:06 Mashelle, coming to a beauty store near you
I actually don't have Dandadan as my #1 this year either because of the last episode.
Hello Arkada!.. 😊
Greetings from Saskatchewan!.. 😁💛
I have added Orb to my 'to watch' list, ty 👌
It is SO good. On par with Monster, Vinland Saga, and Frieren. You won't regret it
For some reason I can't get into DanDaDan. Feels like it should check every box for me but when I watch it, I just feel nothing. I really agree about Dungeon Meshi setting up stakes that feel serious despite lots of levity and charm. I'll have to give Dungeon People a chance. And finally, I appreciate a fellow Rem stan lol
it's too popular, so expectations become unreasonably high.
@@enorma29 I had no expectations personally, just find it kind of lackluster character and story-wise. It looks pretty at least
Oh yeah, I forgot Dungeon Meshi was this year. Good chance season 2 will finish it off, or they'll make a movie out of the ending.
My pick starts with Dan, but I've been reading the manga for a while now so I'm biased. Also haven't really watched anything else this year.
Always respect your opinions. You lead to me watch shinsekai yori and land of the lustrous and I will always love ya for thay
No Look Back? Or is anime movie not included in this list?
Guess I gotta watch Dungeon People now. I was on the fence about it at the time and didn't watch.
Dungeon Meshi and Frieren instantly became top 5s for me. Made in Abyss still my top 1 tho.
My top this year:
Dungeon Meshi
Frieren
Re Zero s3
Mushoku Tensei s2
Shangrila Frontier s2
MahoAko
Dandadan is Kill la Kill but better in every way is honestly the best way to describe it.
"I'm a contrarian at heart"...at least your honest about it. Most contrarians cant nut up and just say so without turning it into an argument.
No one should judge any given person's personal best/favorites list but sadly people do. My criteria for my own end of year lists is basically completely new Anime so no 2nd seasons or spin offs that use the same characters from the original, and no movies (because they deserve to not be compared to series). That established, this is my list.
10) The Elusive Samurai
9) Orb: On the Movements of Earth (has room to rise but I am not caught up on it)
8) Girls Band Cry
7) Blue Box
6) A Sign of Affection
5) Kaiju No. 8
4) Wind Breaker
3) Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines
2) Delicious in Dungeon
1) Dan Da Dan
There were plenty of remakes and sequel seasons that I could slot into this list, but as far as new Anime series this year go, these were my 10 favorites.
I'll be honest, I've never heard of Dungeon People. I'll have to check it out.
Everybody has different tastes. Watch what YOU LIKE. 🧐👍
Been 8 years and people still only talk about waifu wars, like... come on, can we just discuss the current arc? Which, BTW, is actually fucking peak!
@@FireDragg absolutely agree.
Dungeon People for the win!!!!
Wait, there were cheat codes in Tony Hawk?
"corporate meeting simulator" 💀
DanDaDan is the frieren of this year, killing a Master Piece that dared to air in the same season (Orb)
How many people didnt watch Orb, just 'cos DanDaDan popularity is so overwhelming?
Love DanDaDan thought
It wasn't the season of wisdom or the season of foolishness then? If we're continuing the Dickens quotes.
When I think "great shows with Raven in the title" I think first of Raven of the Inner Palace. But Yatagarasu was a'ight.
Love ya GR 🫶🏽
I think slime has the problem that even the source material is quite… long. There’s a fair bit of meetings in the novels as well, just that they don’t really stick out as much as in the anime, which was a slog to get through.
This tells me how weak these stories are this year and how bad a year it was when Dungeon People tops the chart over Dungeon Meshi. 😂
I grew bored of Dungeon People, might finish it.
Jobless reincarnation, wrong way to use healing magic, zom 100, Oshi no Ko, ongoing Bleach, ongoing Demon Slayer, Heavenly Delusion, Solo Leveling, Dangers in My Heart, 2023 was wild.
Gonna stump for Makeine here. Though also had a blast with that Ranma remake.
Reincarnated as a aristocrat season 3 is announced though
orb gets the attention it deserves
surprised by the omission of dead dead demons de-de-de-de-destruction
Some of my top anime of the year in no particular order:
Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
Oblivion Battery
Jellyfish can’t swim in the night
Look back
Senpai is an otokonoko
Dandadan
How I attended an all-guy’s mixer
Nina the starry bride
Wind breaker

I feel like delicious in dungeon would be better with the slowly digested sister premise.
If they want a slow burn, episodic wacky show were none of the characters act like there is any urgency.
Don't have your maim plot have a devastating time limit.
