Today I'm heading back to the arcade! This time we're gonna be stacking wraiths and seeing how we can utilize this to gain a massive damage multiplier!

Some detection early on would have been amazing, to take out their observer.
Well not really, The AI will target units that can fight back than some harmless detector.
@@codenamegnetne8209 Stealth units will focus detectors. I haven't tried it with wraiths but I know it works with DTs and oracles.
@@codenamegnetne8209 play the game before commenting crap, ai does actually focus observers like an attacking air unit
@@cyber3525 I know they fking do, even if he gets detection early on and managed to destroy the observer, the enemy will just move back the observer and buy high templars earlier.
@@codenamegnetne8209 If you knew you wouldn't have commented that the wraiths would rather target dps units rather than detectors.
It amuses me that Artanis has Phoenixes and Dragoons, while Fenix is a Dragoon without Phoenixes or Dragoons.
Hey super cool to see myself in one of these videos! I was the orange Fenix player. Unfortunately, I waited a bit too long to get the scouts, too busy getting immortals to beat out the abathur wave
the aba was noob, no viper, no guards. artanis also noob, no archons with guardian shell didnt disable auto storm on temps. couple of guardian shell archons on the wraith side with manual storm will rip this mass wraith strat.

there are rare youtubers like you that I watch/watched for a specific game like forts that actually make me enjoy watching youtube videos of stuff I dont understand

Shifting the formation to the other side and leaving some behind could have been interesting. Leave some at the front and see if they proc the aoe and then the other wing can come in from the other side.

Yeah, you have infinite relocations anyways and this game is not that micro intensive.
Always tell your ranyor player to have upgraded medics. At least 5. They can heal mech units and provide damage reduction.
Pair that with science vessels repairability and defense matrix. You got yourself a crazy wave

I thought this would be like fitting more wraiths is the staging area than possible
lol that would be a strat for games that go longer than 30 minutes or something but no one can predict that
man I think you should have built 1 or 2 science vessels to to heal up the hyperion. probably could have won 5 minutes earlier

from watching all these videos, I remembered how a long time ago, I played a custom mode with my brother and friend where you are animals instead of the normal choices, I forgot what it was called, anyway, I chose a bird, my brother chose a lava crab/lobster thing, and our friend picked something like a raptor, we all spawned on the right side of the map and I found out that periodically, more birds would just fly in without any cost, so while my brother and friend were fighting in a little area, I went around the rest of the map and claimed just about every other base, so I was getting a ton of birds for free, then my brother eliminated our friend, and wondered where I was, couldnt find me anywhere. Then out of no where, HERE COMES A GIANT ARMY OF INFINITE DODOS and i wiped him, it was so funny

pro tip. The wraith upgrade that ups their dmg after moving lets them counter karax pheonixs. They hit real hard, pheonix goes invulnerable, they move onto next one and hit real hard again, repeat until they die.
Imo get upgrades earlier, will make much more difference than a few more units
i can see this working pretty well against Dehaka, Nova or maybe even Swann...but you said it yourself, most commanders have easy access to tier 2 abilities or units that can really start wiping out the Wraiths XD
-Btw at about --12:30-- the reason why you got Stormed so hevaly is because the ghost was EMPing all of your wraiths so when the Artanis wave hit the high templar's didn't have to feedback.- nvm I'm big dumb.
There's no ghost in this match up unless you are referring to tychus vega. And vega doesn't have emp. Vega has mind control
Mass vessels after wraiths can be good too as they heal and have protection spell
Didn't needed those cyclones just a line of vessels with all upgrades then fill stageing area with wraiths.....
Artanis for sure should have been getting archons. Not just for the storm. But also the feedback. 1 archon could feedback 8 wraiths halving their health instantly. And then they can tank while the dragoons finish him off.

This was really cool, but should you probably have put your ground forces to the other side so the psi storms went on the left and the wraiths don't fly into the storm?
Psionic storms target masses of units, not specifically ground units. The wraiths would always be a target. The purpose of the ground units is to have some survivors of the storms, as well as eat some of the storms.
Seems like spreading the wraiths out along the front would have been smarter once you got enough. If they were three deep it could have still caused the drift bonus without causing them to all smush together in a single clump for the Psyionic Storms to hit.
Yes and no. It would make them slightly less vulnerable to AOE, however any loss of wraiths would result in loss of critical density. As you can see here, keeping them all stacked up in the corner results in maintaining critical density even when most of them get knocked out of the sky. Would it have been better to lose critical density quicker if it means more wraiths survive? Perhaps, I'm not sure.

I suppose it would come down to a bid between burst damage and longevity. Though it's true they aren't known for their survival skills.
Although... with how fast you are, moving them around to see if they were more effective with a full shift to the left couldn't have hurt. Maybe two columns, one on each side.

I would consider this a cheese build
I have to say, who ever designed this game put a lot of thought into the mechanic of starcraft 2 engine. That some clever strategy taking advantage of the engine's physics.
Attack speed of .3 but don't rush 3/3? Ummmm what? Not to mention the 100% crit bonus the strategy employs.... Boo. Boo.
He always seems to undervalue or straight forget upgrades. Is painful
You need more units to activate the 100% upgrade. 3/3 is only 30% ish upgrade
I play this a lot. It takes like 10 for the bonus. He had 36 and was still 1/1...
Upgrades are flat damage increases, so the faster something attacks the more upgrades impact the unit. Wraiths has of the fastest attack speed in this mode, therefore no unit benefits more from upgrades. And then the fact that that damage is doubled? No brainer
I usually spam han/horner wraiths.
A freind told me that in direct strike if you get all of the refinerys there is a upgrade that adds 25% more income for 250 resources is this true?
No, that is false. There is no such upgrade.

you bought wraith upgrade without having any wraiths? why?
So that the every wraith built will have the upgrades. It makes for a harder hitting first wave.
@@Incursus but you could have gotten that upgrade later for the same price. You wouldnt loose out on anything if you bought it later. + if the enemy made units that would counter wraiths you would have less units if you decided to go for a different build.
If you bought it later then you could maybe squeeze out an extra wraith in it and buy the upgrade while the wraiths were on their way to middle.
In direct strike, how do you send your troops, is it automatic?
Yup,every x time your wave is spawned.

I think you can sell your units for a full price if they weren't sent yet, after that you can sell them at 60% of the price (I think)

@@somedude4087 60%? i can see why players might be reluctant but it may be a viable strat. Sell then buy to units to counter their counter. and you have what? 60 seconds to do it. if done well it can totally steam roll the opponents.
@@adaang4104 Hans&Horner are special in that regard. Theirs refund are 100% but have limited uses (can stacking overtime). So switch unit type is their forte.

while watching this I noticed 2 players doing almost nothing on the other team. Only the wave you were vs was at lest holding a little. Trying to credit this build for the win is kinda foolish. Had your 2 allies swapped to his die he would have had a clear win also.
This does not mean its bad build or anything, just pointing out when 1 wave on your side kills less then 2 units in the wave its vs your going to have a bad game.

I disagree. I beat mass wraiths with mass fenix just the other day. all you need is 1 observer and 1 high archon or a high templar. a bam you win.
this strategy was bad. abathur carried you.
