Great kit! I keep an IFAK stylr kit all the time, an EMS/EMT basic bag/ and being a military guy I put a CLS bag in my hunting/hiking gear. For those of you that have little or no training go get at least CPR/AED First aid certified. There are many free ways to get one. For all you Army guys out there that have not taken CLS, talk to your front line leader. Its a 40hr. course and worth some serious promotion points. Not to mention the combat skills you gain-Survivability.

Nice first aid kit. As a retired firefighter/paramedic and former military medic, I have always carried a decent first aid kit. I've found it's best to have several. I have one that I leave in the vehicle that has most items except for those subject to freeze-thaw or extreme heat. I have a separate carry bag that I put in for the liquid items as well as a more comprehensive load. Lastly, I have kits for pocket, daypack, and backpacking. I've found it best to leave each one in every pack that I choose (yeah, I know I can stop any time) so I don't forget them. Something as simple as a gallon-size ziplock bag with a few select items can provide a level of preparedness that far exceeds a handful of nothing when needed.

Fantastic, EXTRA IDEA: Add a small laminated " road map" of the bag, listing whats in the pouches for those other than yourself accessing bag. Great as always Cody, you and USNERDOC are an inspiration for us medics.

Two more suggestions. I have a couple of splints in my roll. I have found them to be really useful particularly when backpacking. Also I recommend a head lamp so you have both hands free when doing first aid at night.

USNERDOC and AMP-3 Kits are great. Last month, I used an IFAK and Blood Stopper Kit at a batchlor party motorcycle/camp trip. The Groom took a spill in some 1"minus gravel road in a T-Shirt. Only managed to puncture his elbow an inch or so, but it was wide open. We where in the Tillamook Forrest and about a hour from anything. Patched him up and we went home the next day. Only one other guy had some medical stuff out of seven of us.

thank you SO much for the follow up video on the first aid kit. I watched your axe injury video and noticed the first aid kit at that time. Ive been putting together a few different first aid kits, and will be adding your recommendation (using the Blackhawk bag) as our primary kit. Being able to view the contents at a glance is BIG! very nice set up.

I made a kit for my car, my wife's, and for my sister-in-law in the Philippines, on a super low budget. I started at the dollar store with one of everything from the medical isle. That cost me about $20 - $25 per kit. I ordered a surgical staplers off of amazon. Those cost me about $12 each and come pre-loaded with about 20 staples and a staple remover. In all each kit cost about $40. Packed each in a shoe box. Already used the kits several times in emergencies. Totally worth it!

Seizure sticks or bite sticks are a thing of the past. I currently work in EMS don't ever put something like a bite stick in an air way. Your asking for it to slip out and down his throat. Then you need a pair of Magill forceps to retrieve the stick and regain a airway.

Funny to comment on a 6 year old video but here I go. I strongly suggest that you put Velcro labels on the pockets identifying the categories of items. Not only will it help you to find things quickly, but I’m always thinking that in a major accident scene that I’d toss my roll to a doctor and I’d want him to find what he needs instantly. That jumped out at me the whole time I watched your video. You really want to be able to look at the open roll and know what pocket holds what type of materials. I also recommend that everyone take an advanced, all day first aid class. It’s one thing to have the kit, but you want to be able to use it. My two cents. Love your vids btw. You’ve got a ton of excellent content.

for all those interested, super glue is wonderful for cuts on the fingers and knuckles, all the way down to about a milimeter. a family member still to this day uses it for bad excema on the hands, it fills the cuts and lets them heal, by the time the cut's healed the super glue is gone.

This video, and part two, are some of the least watched videos on this channel.
The crazy thing is that it's the small things that kill you and it's the small things that save you.
So many preppers, survivalists, off-gridders and such concentrate on all the big tough things like guns, knives, tonnes of food and a million litres of water and an underground shelter for nuclear fall-out when it's a 1cm scratch on your leg that gets infected that'll kill you.
This should be the most watched video.

My only comment is you might want to trade your super glue for dermabond. Dermabond is chemically very similar to super glue, but it wont irritate skin the way super glue can in some individuals, and it closes skin slightly better in wet or bloody conditions. Dermabond can be expensive, but you can save money by getting 3M vetbond, which is identical, just made for vets instead of hospitals. Don't get me wrong, super can work in a pinch, even I have used it.

Don't ever ever ever decompress with a needle, especially one like you showed with the syringe. All chest decompressions should be done with a 14gauge angiocath, that way when the lung inflates it will not be punctured by the needle. Along the same lines I would get a good dedicated tourniquet, something like a sof t or cat, and if your on a budget the swat t works as well, besides that great kit for minor first aid!
