Couple of extras we keep in the first aid kit is sanitary products (pads, tampons & wet wipes). Yeah, my girls usually pack their own in their bags, but sometimes you may need a lighter option or so on. Having those have proven to be very helpful.

I have some pantyliners i keep for possible injuries now. I'm a diabetic with neuropathy in my legs and feet. One day i was walking back from a garden my husband was putting in and i thought i'd just brushed past some random item and went inside. When my husband came inside he saw blood dripping from my leg. I jabbed myself pretty deep. I didn't feel any pain whatsoever, though.
All this happened when covid first brought everything to a stand still.
I didn't have any 2x2's, 3x3's, etc. but found a stray box of panty liners. I just cut them in half and we treated my wound at home until i could get into my doctor.

I made a little make up bag - really small for when my daughter turned 11 ;) band aids, a couple of sanitary pads and a couple of painkillers - I made sure the bag didn’t look anything special and it was just for the bottom of her school bag.

Great tips! I've been in the medical field around 20 years, I would also keep all medications in their complete packaging if possible. Because it not only has it's uses but dosing, warnings, expiration dates and other important information. I am also working on getting a first aid kit together 🙂

Love the kit, I love dt finger bandages. I did have an allergic reaction to dt triple antibiotic ointment, it was weird. Evidently in my old age i now have a sulpha allergy. I used school pencil boxes for first aid, cold, etc. I got a whole bunch when they were pennies during back to school sales. I got clear. I even put period stuff and just keep in each bathroom.

Yes to preparing ahead of time. There's nothing worse than being at the pharmacy waiting for something and someone walks in, coughing hard and then asking 'Do you guys have a Covid test and also NyQuil?' Makes me want to have instant hazmat powers! Btw, an oxymeter is also good to have these days. (Definitely not available at DT though 😉)

For instance everything to do for any stomach problems, Cold flu, first aid all the family knows to just go to the closet and all they have to grab is the bin that is labeled for whatever is wrong. It’s been very helpful to everyone. We had to grab the first aid bin last week because I cut my finger pretty bad. Coband is awesome but hard to find. Where do you suggest getting it? I found a whole bunch of thermometer at a Dollar Tree today. I actually never seen it before. It didn't say what type of battery it uses but only when the battery expires.

I was thinking of some of the things we used when we were little like mercurochrome. Mercy it’s a wonder we are not dead. I remember my Mom calling it BooBoo Paint like that made it better!

I called it "My-cure-combs" when I was little lol. I hated when my parents would put that stuff on my cuts. It burned and my skin would be stained for days.

One thing I learned as a girl scout you can sterilize a needle or tweezers with a match or candle. Just light put the tip in the flame for a few seconds at the steel is sterilized.

The reason my household runs out of band aids is because my kids use it all on things like oh, I bumped my knee I need a bandaid. Kid you not, nothing is there. I stopped buying the themed ones and they still do it. I buy things when I run out like cold medicine, etc. My husband gets mad at me says those things expire and you're wasting money. It sure was nice when he got sick and my first aid kit was fully stocked. I have a full cabinet for everything. I do need to reorganize it though. This is a great list to have on just in case.
