LOL @ some of these comments from dudes getting their panties in a twist because this isn't an actual mechanical Pogue reissue! Bro, it ain't trying to be!! Seiko made a cool looking solar quartz chronograph that acknowledges and takes inspiration from one of their most legendary, iconic models!! I would never be able to afford a mechanical Pogue reissue, but if I can get the iconic gold dial/red & blue bezel Pogue look for under $500 (this watch is $480 from sakurawatches), then I'm going for one of these ALL DAY LONG!! This is a super fun, well made, grab and go watch!! Sure, Seiko isn't "what they used to be" or whatever (if you consider their 1970s mechanical offerings to be the absolute pinnacle of the company), but they're still a great company that puts out awesome watches!! Lighten up people, watches are supposed to be fun!! If you don't like it, just don't buy it!! 🤷♂🤣. Thanks for another great review!!

@@ClickSpringReview Just got my new watch, this watch looks fantastic, extreamly pleased, fits and wears great! So glad that Seiko have released this new "Poque"..Seiko done good with this one, love that they used the same Red timer hands as the original.
Sometimes you just have to get a watch because it's fantastic it its own right. I love the history, but I don't need it to be the same watch as the Pogue. Sure that gives it some added homage element, but even if the Pogue never existed, this watch stands up. Specs are off the charts, Sapphire, Solar, what's not to love? I'm just waiting for them to start showing up on ebay preowned so I can grab one for sub $500. I like wearing a watch that's instantly recognized across the room and this is that watch. Great video, great review.
It’s a cool watch but if Solar is you thing I’d go for the SFJ007P1 these are on offer already and so even cheaper than the reviewed model and cost more than double the price normally plus I think it’s much better
I had a 6139 with a blue dial back in the day. I also have this new Seiko "Pogue". It's a lovely watch in its own right. Traditionalists will not like it because it's not a 1:1 reissue, however this new one is much more wrist friendly. The old ones are big, heavy and thick.
I admire the effort. As someone who services and restores vintage Seiko Pogues, this just does not do it for me. Seiko has the ability to do a near one to one re-issue of the Pogue. Why they do not just go ahead and do that baffles me. They are more than capable. Just look at the new Navigator Timer.
I have been saying for 3 years seiko or any watch brand to make an affordable chronograph with that mesmerizing pogue orange/gold dial. Now not being the original 6139 pogue.. configuration wise or even the cool 7A28 with the same colorway.. I do like the classic triple register chrono layout. It still a great looking watch.. with the solar movement and would be a great buy at $400 to $500 not the retail $700 I really wish seiko and other brands doing Mecaquartz movements would bring back the fast runner complication aka 1/10 of a second counter instead of the boring 24 hour useless comp. The extra action when the chronograph is engaged just adds something to the overall watch IMO. Still a striking looking dial that even watch snobs can't deny
Does anyone really buy the full RRP for a Seiko thats just an opening bid :) as for a 1/10 of a second have you checked out this one Tony th-cam.com/video/l1Gcxcx79ww/w-d-xo.htmlsi=67Oynaxplqcfwiq7
I really like it. Id say it's a nod to the pogue but not trying to be a replacement or redo. Motorcycle companies do it all the time with old liveries that pay homage to older models or race bikes.
Nice overview of the watch mate 😎👍 the colour combo works well but think seiko could have made a real re-pogue if they wanted to, i think this one is a bit like the willard and uemura and i wonder if they release another pogue reinterpretation in the next few months 😅
Seiko are the king of the reissue or reinterpretation and limited edition or ever special edition lol not sure the last time they actually made a new watch though :) ps this one still looks good
People are going crazy over this one. Personally, I like the smaller 38 Speedtimers more, and even with the 42 versions, I prefer the ice blues versions or the new cream dial/green bezel model
Really good, well balanced review as ever. Lovely looking watch. I've got the original, albeit with the blue face that was given to me by my dad in 1973. I hope it's a great hit for Seiko as its a good re interpretation of a classic. Original bracelet was pretty ropey as were all bracelets then. This bracelet is better, probably appropriate to the value of the piece which is fair at £600.
Love the dial color. Wonder what it would cost if it was a true mechanical “Pogue”? Been shopping around, like to have a mechanical chronograph. Thinking about it, don’t have a chronograph in my collection.
Hi Barry, Seiko designs their cases really well I feel: however I'm not so impressed by what's inside them. I'm fairly ambivalent about Grand Seiko too actually: nice watches but they don't really appeal to me. Thanks for the review though, LG Bob 🍻🍻🍻
I have a couple pogues and this new only has the colors of a pogue, almost.not quite the honey gold but they are still a nice looking piece. I wish I saw this beforei shelled out 650 for the tuseno shell back v2. See how I did that ;/
In the 70,s no one called it the “Pouge”. And Seiko does not call it that now, and neither do I for that matter. And when I piss into wind, its a similar colour to the dial.
Yes I have read that Seiko has Stopped Using the name Pouge for this Watch officially. Please research this yourself. It's a few clicks away. Don't rely on me. Rely on yourself. Thanks Have fun.
I think it's a nice watch. I think solar is great for a chrono. You never have to worry about leaving the chrono on and run out of power early. As for looks, if you want gold-pepsi this is one to consider. If you want a blue dial? There are some great Casio Edifice Chronos offering solar, saphire, same layout and overall looks... For about 1/3 this price. Probably a bit less durable build quality and if you mention your watch brand is CASIO everybody thinks you carry a black plastic G-shok. But still... I might understand those saying 600 is maybe a bit too much for this. There are some automatic non Chrono watches out, both under the Seiko and Lorus brand, that capture the late 60s, early 70s look better with their case. Think of the LorusRL439. Or the Seiko 5 limited sports edition. If you want something nice, automatic, having vintage aesthetics, those will be money better spend. And if you just want a good value for money solar japanese quartz chronograph, check out the Casio Edifice line. But if you want a nice Seiko Chrono gold-pepsi for under 1000, I'd say this is a good one and it's good it's for offer.
