Bought a 2002 in Minnesota when I live back there had fun riding trails in the north and riding play the rivers and other places. Now I live in Reno Nevada still have the DRZ and I ride it a lot in the desert and in the mountains, just found it to be a fun versatile bike!
Howdy, from next door in Tucson. Funny thing about owning a DRZ400S….hang around MX racers and they wonder why you’re driving a portly “living fossil”. Cruise around two-up with a group of hogs and folks compliment you and your partner’s ability to still throw a leg over what they see as a rather handsome and imposing dirtbike, but jeer at the lack of chrome or “character”. Yet roll with the ADV crowd and they get pissy that you’re not keeping up with them during continuous stints at 80+ on the interstate in between fire roads, yet constantly riding over or straight-up dusting them in the washes. Finally, the realization that there’s very few other machines that can pull it off like it does for the price it fetches.
I love my DRZ, it’s a different kind of beast! Brings out the Hooligan in me, cut the balls of the end of the break and clutch levers and sand the edges! You’ll thank me later!
I picked up an '03 as a project to fix/profit. Almost kept the damn thing after a few dual sport trips. If I still lived in desert Id still have the 450RL or a DRZ. But in Midwest my KLX 300 was waaaay better in the woods than big old DRZ after having them both here last summer, and the DRZ would be a better ride in the desert with more power and suspension. Been doing the light dual sport in truck bed for 10 years exploring, had fun cuz Im still an enduro rider but my new KLR has been more enjoyable to ride all day vs a few hours. Instead of wondering bout bikes I buy/ride/sell all of them LOL.
@@JasonRidesmoto where do you ride? I think a drz or similar would be great on Atv trails. I believe in MN you need a headlight and taillight anyways. I only know of one single track area just north of Aitkin.
Hey you should get an ND filter for your camera, especially in arizona. It makes the picture quality much nicer and allows the camera to process colors much more smoothly. Since you're out in AZ, a ND16 would probably work nicely

@@T.S.-eo7my That is the most accurate portrayal of the drz400 I have ever heard!

@@desertdrz7618 I would take it through forest roads way up north... some trails south of the cities too... I'm still exploring my options

I will certainly look into that, is that compatible with the max lens mod?
