In today’s video I’ll be discussing things I don’t like about the legendary C5 Z06. Thanks so much for watching and the recent support it means the world to me! Have a great day :)
They make trunk dividers for the FRC/Z06. They are usually made of foam but if you can find one made of MDF board, it’ll cut down on road noise from the rear tires, make your stereo sound better and make the A/C work efficiently. 275 size tires will work fine up front and your Z06 is operating in a normal temp range but your front spoiler could be blocking some of the airflow.
Thank you for the useful information, most of these things are either common problems, or things I had to really think deep about to try and find imperfections about this platform.
I daily-drove my 2003 (like yours) until 2016. It had a mild build as soon as the warranty was up and put down 524whp while remaining completely streetable. I finally sold it only because someone missed his C5 Z06 and made me a crazy offer. I do miss it but have been using a 2010 with 691whp since. I have to say the C5 (especially the Z06 and FRC) don't get the love they deserve for the insane handling. I'd definitely get another one day. BTW, nice color. I always wished mine was yellow. Cheers from Florida.
I love this comment and glad to hear another die-hard fan. You have great taste in cars and these cars seem great for high horsepower and streetable driving. Thanks for the comment I appreciate you so much!!
as someone with a base C5 id agree the FRC doesnt get that much love, a buddy of mine has a Z06 and anytime we cruze together people always want to look at mine over his something about the back glass changes how the car looks. keep in mind im talking about general public not car people
iv got a base C5 idk what or how you use your z06 but going up a size in rims makes tires easy to get. mine has 18s front 19s rear and i think i paid right at or just over 1K for tires when i got them the last time, that the rubber, balancing, and alignment from the shop. i know 1K still seems like a lot but compared to other C5 or corvette owners as a whole iv talked to this is anywhere from 1K cheaper to as much as 2K cheaper
The overheating issue is a simple fix. C5’s are bottom feeders, it looks like you don’t have your air dam, either reinstall it or purchase one and that will solve it. You can also opt for a larger rad. Hope this helps.
I hear a lot of people going with a bigger radiator, I’ve never had the temp go over 220° so I’m not too concerned with it but this helps a lot thank you!
@@Bmstaudy since you are lowered the air dam will scrape, but you can trim it and it will still scrape lol but not as much. The larger rad is the way to go regardless. You can also cut the area for the front mount plate where it says corvette and there is a carbon trim that will clean it up. But with your build paint matched would look better but you may not be happy with it opened. Glad this helped keep the build going!
The Air Dam is one of the most Important Parts on a C5, it is not only for Cooling, it also produce Downforce. If you wanne Drive without the Air Dam, you lose definitve Downforce, and you need to Build over the Cooling System like in the GT1 Race Cars.
I ended up making ramps just to change the oil, but I live out in the country so the temps are usually pretty regulated by high wind speeds. What color is yours?
I couldn’t answer that honestly, as I only put 1300 miles on the car but I would expect a small up-charge due to it being a Z06 sorry I couldn’t answer your question specifically but hope this helped a little!
I put baby's sweat socks on every club and it completely eliminates any club noises.. Dollar general has them for two pairs for a dollar so it was like 4 dollars.....
Hello Staudy, I am telling you a story about a Corvette and a girl. Once upon a time there was a girl, and she owns a Corvette. But then, a kidnapper came to... KIDNAP THE CORVETTE! The girl is really worried. She is worried that the kidnapper may hurt her Corvette so the girl called the cops. The cops arrested the person who kidnapped the Corvette. The girl decided to keep her Corvette safe. She decided to lock the Corvette in a garage, to keep the kidnappers out. The Corvette has a scar on it's wheel. The girl's Corvette had injured itself, from getting kidnapped. The girl and her Corvette finally parked to a large hill but then, the Corvette fell into the lake!!! The Corvette was drowning all of the sudden, the girl said ''I don't think I should ever park a Corvette on the top of a hill ever again.'' Suddenly, a very large boulder hit the girl and then the Corvette!!! The girl and the Corvette were both badly hurt!!! An ambulance came for the girl to take the girl to the hospital. Then, a truck came to tow the Corvette to the garage. And that's it. That's the end of this story.
The things I hate about my C5 Z06 are long nose and the seats are horrible but I’m glad I owned one of best car.. if you owned a C5 Z06 pretty much you owned a race car

I agree haha, yellow isn’t my favorite color and it really pops in person thank you for the kind words!

@kallo182 a front splitter should correct any loss of down force. But then there is the issue of cooling which is where the bigger rad comes in.
I own one myself , how low they are is such a pain for working on it and driving. I also did a bigger rad cause the temp drove me nuts

Can I please get your exact tire dimensions front and rear and what brand. Thanks.
They’re 265/40/17 on the front 295/35/18 rear and they’re goodyear eagle f1 super car
How much to change brakes? Any expensive shop bills?

They make a divider for the trunk pass through..

What a horrifying story
I agree with you, Staudy, that story does sound horrifying.
Also, it's really a tragic story.
The yellow Z06 looks better than any of the other vehicles displayed in this video
That means a lot, I appreciate you. Thanks for the kind comment :)
Everything you mentioned is fixable
I agree
I fuggN ❤️ my Z-06 2003 50th Torch Red fiber sled. They call me Chuck Melch AKA Qwim Merkin🦞
