Thank you for this beautiful comment, and you have perfectly articulated one of the main reasons why I started this project. The media twist and distort reality. They want us all divided on the basis of race and gender and sexuality, and they are happiest when we are skeptical of each other. Hopefully you’ll continue to enjoy what I do. I’ve been working on this for one year; I’ve approached countless strangers in different cities and countries. Almost everyone has been kind to me. There’s a lesson there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for appreciating what I do.
He admitted he has a lot of pain and defensive but he allowed you in a bit, further than most probably. This was heartwarming to see a connection made through such tension.
Second time watching this. Brings tears to my eyes. Yes, he speaks of pain and yet, and yet, he says: LIFE IS A GIFT. How many have no pain and do “ know” life is a gift. Thank you for sharing this beautiful man with us. ❤

1:21 he should visit Ghana, Nigeria, Angola, Tanzania et al then, because _they_ played the main part in African slavery, for without them actually capturing and bringing their fellow Africans to the coast to sell to other countries the African slave trade would never have existed.
Why? That’s so dismissive of thousands of cultures. Africa has so many different values, heritage, cultures, stories, religions, that is strange to think that it is only one thing. North Africa and South Africa are worlds apart. The same way a Japanese saying I come from Asia, I don’t do the countries, would be so odd. Japan is not China or India. I actually got the feeling that he is not from “Africa” at all. He Is stating that to state his race. His identity is his color, maybe. But even that is not entirely correct because the Berberes have a different skin tone, for example. Facial features are so different from one place to another. This globalization will destroy everything. People say Europe so many times, when you can literally sense you are in a different place and culture when you cross a border. I sense that if it was a white person saying “it’s an African” instead of stating a person’s nationality that would be considered racism. I found this video strange to be honest.😮
@@ritaamor283 I agree. Not only are North and South Africa are different but countries right next to each other are different. There are regions within countries that are different. Also, because most maps use Mercator projection the real size of the continent and the countries is way off. It’s 14 time larger than Greenland but appears the same size on a lot of maps.
@@skyserf I felt like he had already said enough, and didn’t want to go into his personal background any further, so slipped the question by saying that to say he was from Africa was enough, and implying we don’t need to be identified with nation states, that often arose in dubious circumstance, and besides which he is no longer in that country for probably painful reasons and finds himself now living in a country called Ireland.
What an absolute legend (both you and the subject). Your channel really does shine a light on the general public and reminds you of the depth and complexity to every person. Really really cool. And I'd be happy to be even half as cool and thoughtful as this guy

I think this is your best video, because it's so moving. In the 21st century, this African man states with dignity the continuing struggles of his race. For all the modern advances in science and technology, why is it so hard to accept that people are human beings, whatever their skin colour, and should be treated the same? A simple thing like walking down the street unmolested means freedom for him.
Dude, they literally dominate violence crime news everywhere they stay. A small percentage is enough to make your region so unsafe. They did that while still acting like victims. What annoying pest
What an interesting channel. You are living my dream, photographing interesting people in my spiritual home of Ireland.
