It would be interesting to hear the story of how you two met. Thanks for the video of London. I used to dream of visiting, but that is fading away. I have noticed that there are many British people coming to the U.S. for the past couple of years and I don't blame them. As long as people try and stay out of the big cities, it is better.

I was in London in the early 1990s. The city felt safe. I could walk around comfortably even at 3 am. Being a person of colour I stood out a bit but no one treated me badly. I’m half Polish half American born and raised in Australia. Moved to London in 2018 but the rapid deterioration of the city ( and entire country) became unbearable and depressing. Decided to move to Poland March this year and loving it. Clean, safe cities, well dressed people, fantastic infrastructure, strong nationalistic spirit, and hatred for illegal or mass immigration. If you want to live here, you have to be useful (means work), integrate, and respect the country’s values and culture. If you don’t, the Poles will make you don’t feel welcome - no such a thing as political correctness here.
Billionaires need to integrate instead of living in different countries whilst taking from state finances and not giving back enough. I've read the same bullshit of blaming immigration for societies woes in newspapers from every decade in the past 150 years, it's nothing new. Look it up. When will you people learn that the system is the problem. The US is a nation of immigrants, made by mass immigration. And those first immigrants committed genocide. Now it's the descendents of these people, the imperialists, who are causing most of the world's problems. They are causing a perpetual refugee crisis. You're blaming the wrong things and all the while the extreme capitalist exploiters are getting away with destroying the planet and affecting billions of people's lives. You're a useful idiot to the imperialist agenda and you need to realise it and join the people actually trying to make a positive change, instead of blaming 'immigrants'.
Am I the only one that did see anything "horrible" there? Two tents on a street, two phone booths with graffiti? What else is sooooo "horrible", dude?? Don't like London? Many racist or xenophobic people don't like that London has a Muslim mayor and so they love to try to trash one of the best cities in the world in my opinion.

And that's not to even mention the constant threat of terrorism, and how dramatically that's changed the atmosphere in our cities, and of course people resent Khan for his comments about that. But now, the native population will never have a vote in London anyway, because they are so dramatically outnumbered by families who've only been here for one or two generations, and quite frankly, shouldn't have anywhere near as much of a say. Guess what % the Tory vote was in the last mayoral election btw? 35%. It's a sad state of affairs, we will never have our capital back, it will never be anything more than a commercial, transitory place for people to flock to and treat like a fast food buffet. And to make matters worse, it's not even remotely safe. No-one is more emblematic of that change than Khan. The problem is though, how do you "decolonize" cities such as London and Berlin?
The UK is a delusional country full of yobs. Apart from the attitude, there isn't much civilisation in the UK. Wherever the Brits go, they change the nature of the place by forcing their likes and wants on others. I know because my country is colonised by UK people.
I mean, you have to be pretty stupid to import 3rd world. Whatever levels of intelligence they thought they had in "1st world countries", are evidently non-existant.
I saved up for ten years to visit London for two weeks. But instead of seeing British poeple and men in bowler hats, I saw so many Muslims in headgear that I thought I was in Afghanistan. Whatever England used to be, it no longer is. I will never be returning. Sadly, the same thing is happening in New York City, where I visited last year. The entire Roosevelt Hotel was filled to overflowing with illegal immigrants, and now they're looking for 14,000 more hotel rooms to put them in at taxpayers expense. So they just destroyed America's greatest city, as well. Say goodbye to everything you once knew.
Stay away from Paris as well, that iconic City of Europe is even worse than London(istan) is now., it would break your heart to see the trash, filth, tent encampments, homeless beggars, graffiti and foreigners that have consumed Paris.
I have refused to go back to NYC for the past few years. When women were getting suckered punched in times Square and the people responsible were getting out on no bail release. Guess they don't want my tourist money anymore.
That's allright. The U.S. has plenty of space and enough thriving economic activity elsewhere. We'll reclaim NYC after it has been run into the ground.
@@marksmith8928 "Plenty of space"?? The entire island of Manhattan is only 2 miles wide and 7 miles long. Within only MONTHS the Dumbocraps have turned the entire city into a Third World zombieland, with no end in sight. I'm only glad I left five years ago, and I certainly won't be coming back.
London looks like that because of all of the non- europeans in the country that call themselves "Londoners" . No one wants to say it, but everyone knows it.
I see the same in many other West European cities, in particular in Germany. Just got back from a trip to Poland and it was amazing. Clean streets, no beggars on the street, no homeless people and no immigrants. Just my personal observation. No judging here from my side.
This is real capitalism emerging. Since WWII, we had nanny states propping up people with labour laws and welfare state benefits. Now the world is at economic war as more and more countries embrace free markets. These changes will eventually conclude in a global dystopia for the masses, heaven for the net worth wealthy.
Now watch London videos from 60 years ago, or even longer ago. These depressing scruffy dirty people have replaced the smart, pleasant, well-dressed clean people of those times!!
I lived in various parts of London from 1977 to 2017. In 2018 and 2019, I used to visit weekly to do a radio show. The journey from my home in East Anglia used to take 1 Hr 40 mins to the studio in South London. Since the Mayor's insane "traffic planning" and 20 mph zones everywhere, the same journey takes over 4 hours. The last time I visited London was over three years ago, and with remote access to our main studio, I no longer need to go there at all, fortunately. All my friends (with just one exception) who lived in London have left now, and several have even moved to other countries. The city is no longer habitable for white, middle-class English people like me. It's a sad situation and worsens by the day. Other British cities are being destroyed in the same ways - by mass immigration, Islamification, corruption, crime and greed. The UK is close to finished, and I am making plans for emigration (despite my advanced age). Fortunately, I have the finance to be able to do this. I'll feel sorry for the indigenous British people I leave behind....
London is a perfect place for unemployed and thugs riding a bike, for the rest of us trying to make a living is just a waste of time.Plus we have to pay extra taxes for these idiots. I used to love London, but I’m living soon and never come back.
Since my first visit to Soho aged 11 it was my dream to live there. I grafted hard and finally moved in. Stayed for about ten years and got the hell out of that woke, violent, hostile, simulation of London, England. I now live over the other side of the world, in a so-called third world country, and I've never been happier.
@dafyddthomas7299 Edinburgh has the most gorgeous skyline and the old town is stunning, but I see the changes every time I visit. I no longer recognise Leith where I was born and grew up 😢
Not saying this in any disrespectful way, but to say you're not worried about safety, just "hyper-aware" of your surroundings is, to my thinking, the very definition of worried. It's the random nonsense that makes the UK unpleasant. While I of course love much of the UK, especially my home town of London, I have lived half of my life elsewhere, and would not live in London again for too many reasons to go into here.
I noticed this living in Southampton, especially seeing the diversity barriers go up on the high street and the seeing the population change to be more islamic and African. You would walk around always aware of your surroundings and more and more paranoid about your personal safety/leaving belongings... Having to work with lazy Somalis etc praying in the office.... I had to leave... Now living in East Asia and much happier. Who wants to live with this kind of stress? Also the grey skies in the UK keep everyone perpetually miserable. I'm sure they manipulate the weather.
Born & raised in central London & left 11 years ago. Moved abroad somewhere totally different & although many of the people here don't like foreigners like myself, I don't miss London at all. I knew what was coming & the same is planned for everywhere.
Yet, conversely,I have been out socially(including Dog Walking) around 16,000 times in Inner London ( 29 years to 1983) and 11 miles away in Outer S E London/Kent (41 years) and, barely, any incidents though, potentially, avoided a mugging once at Battersea/Clapham Junction..Not been involved in any real altercations and my area is very British, culturally plus some aspirational people, mainly, from China, Asia, and Turkey. I return to the heart of London all the time like tomorrow and Wednesday and within an hour the other way I can be ub the heart of East and West Sussex and Surrey and Kent is my address.Went on a 9 mile walk on the beautiful South Downs @ Diychlimg Beacon last Saturday.

How do you explain the continued popularity of London for people who leave places that cheaper, safer, cleaner and less congested than London to build their lives in the UK capital? London remains the most exciting and vibrant city in the world.
Being from the U.S., I enjoyed visiting London in the 1970's. It was SO much safer, clean and uplifting back then. Today it has become a dangerous and depressing dystopia. Same can regrettably said about New York City. We lived/worked in Manhattan when Giuliani and Bloomberg were each mayor. It was an enjoyable, clean and relatively safe city back then. Never imagined it would deteriorate as it has and so quickly, all of which began with Democrat and Communist leaning De Blasio as mayor.
Don't let this dissuade you from visiting this wonderful city. I went to the UK this summer, spent about 8 days in London and it was a great visit. Our hotel very close to all these locations and we walked on these exact streets. The only bad smells we came across was in Hyde Park (fresh horse poop that had been run over). There were a lot of the Romani gypsys begging and had tents in grassy medians and on the edges of parks, but we never saw any on the sidewalks. The phone snatching thing is a real issue and we did see those masked villains on ebikes and scooters. You have to be very aware how and when you use your phone. I would go for walks on my own (female in my 60s) at night, on busy street and walk along the Thames, never hassled (wanted to soak as much in.) The parks and museums are wonderful and free. Food is was cheaper than my last visit to NYC or Boston, and the quality and variety of cuisines is vast. Visited several other areas in the UK, the other two I really enjoyed were Cornwall and my new favorite place on the planet Scotland. Wow what a beautiful country. The Scots are extra lovely people. Only spent 5 day in Scotland - Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Highlands (on walks) looking to go back for much longer and really explore.
hcw it has quite a nice smell actually a nice smell of rubber and heat and very strong in the tube a nice smell of worm air and the streets have a smell of beer and pizza

I was in London last month - made the mistake of trying to walk from Paddington station to Oxford Circus because the weather was nice and I didn't fancy the Tube. Going down Edgware Road was like entering Cairo or Khartoum, but the worst of it was a member of a certain religion had set up a stall and was blasting out at full volume on speakers a looped tape of an angry voice in heavily-accented English yelling about the triumph of a certain religion and the death of all those who refuse to submit to it. Not one plod in sight. It was then that I realise it's over for the UK, red rover.

She was born in 1941 and it seems like the 50s and 60s was a fun time going off her stories she told. Lots of optimism after the war, everything new and built up, nicer people in general who dressed better, less crime, cleaner streets.

This is real capitalism emerging. Since WWII, we had nanny states propping up people with labour laws and welfare state benefits. Now the world is at economic war as more and more countries embrace free markets. These changes will eventually conclude in a global dystopia for the masses, heaven for the net worth wealthy.
Not really..it's just the nature of how the people have depended on Gov't to do everything for them

Move to Brazil. You will feel much better.

You never met New York during the crack era?
The people's Republic of New York
Same. Made our last trip across the pond a year ago, WOW! Not going back again. :(
That has nothing to do with democrats or communism, it is defined as "LIBERALS"
Was in New York in 2019 and it was fine.
The sounds of London.... Screeching police cars every other minute, foreign languages begging for money and I can imagine the stench.

Yes London used to be a 'gentle' city it used to be so safe here - as a female one could go for a walk in the park at 3am and be perfectly safe doing so, one could sunbathe in parks wearing the skimpiest bikinis and no-one would take any notice - now I'm too scared to walk to Tesco on own anymore and have to get everything delivered too scared to go out.
