It would be interesting to hear the story of how you two met. Thanks for the video of London. I used to dream of visiting, but that is fading away. I have noticed that there are many British people coming to the U.S. for the past couple of years and I don't blame them. As long as people try and stay out of the big cities, it is better.

I live in Edmonton and have lived in Tottenham. These are areas which some may consider has a high level of crime. Let me tell you that London is safe. It is only unsafe if you are part of a gang, because gang members don't usually attack randomly, but only those who they would consider their enemies. As long as you keep yourself to yourself and don't carelessly display your wealth then you won't have any problems in London, even in the more deprived parts of the city.

The cleanliness, rare crime, and high fresh air quality made me realise other western countries are proportionately lagging behind. I went to South Korea but it also proved to be better. I've read the same bullshit of blaming immigration for societies woes in newspapers from every decade in the past 150 years, it's nothing new. Look it up. When will you people learn that the system is the problem. The US is a nation of immigrants, made by mass immigration. And those first immigrants committed genocide. Now it's the descendents of these people, the imperialists, who are causing most of the world's problems. They are causing a perpetual refugee crisis.

@@David-r8q9l Pardon, but it's not racist or xenophobic to be unhappy that our capital city is only 35% White British (for reference, it was around 85% in the 80s.) It's our CAPITAL. Imagine if that happened to Tokyo. Imagine if Tokyo was only 35% native Japanese people and they were told "shut up and enjoy your diversity!" - that wouldn't happen.
And that's not to even mention the constant threat of terrorism, and how dramatically that's changed the atmosphere in our cities, and of course people resent Khan for his comments about that. But now, the native population will never have a vote in London anyway, because they are so dramatically outnumbered by families who've only been here for one or two generations, and quite frankly, shouldn't have anywhere near as much of a say. Guess what % the Tory vote was in the last mayoral election btw? 35%. It's a sad state of affairs, we will never have our capital back, it will never be anything more than a commercial, transitory place for people to flock to and treat like a fast food buffet. And to make matters worse, it's not even remotely safe. No-one is more emblematic of that change than Khan. Try to understand people's actual concerns instead of just calling everyone racist who disagrees with you.

People can't get housing, and then you have lots of homeless people, yet the government are letting people in, left, right & center. Tents around Dublin, filled with migrants, etc... It's not a good look to be fair. Then you have high costs, rents, everything gone through the roof. I think most people are very frustrated and angry. We can't house people, but yet the government put a lovely bike shed up there in Dublin which cost, wait for it.... 330,000 euro. You couldn't make this crap up. Lol. Harvard and Yale literally tell its students - of all backgrounds - that it's essentially a sin to be of European descent and that we need to "decolonize" everything to rectify the sins of the past. Whatever England used to be, it no longer is. I will never be returning. Sadly, the same thing is happening in New York City, where I visited last year. The entire Roosevelt Hotel was filled to overflowing with illegal immigrants, and now they're looking for 14,000 more hotel rooms to put them in at taxpayers expense. So they just destroyed America's greatest city, as well. Say goodbye to everything you once knew.

I lived in various parts of London from 1977 to 2017. In 2018 and 2019, I used to visit weekly to do a radio show. The journey from my home in East Anglia used to take 1 Hr 40 mins to the studio in South London. Since the Mayor's insane "traffic planning" and 20 mph zones everywhere, the same journey takes over 4 hours. The last time I visited London was over three years ago, and with remote access to our main studio, I no longer need to go there at all, fortunately.
All my friends (with just one exception) who lived in London have left now, and several have even moved to other countries. The city is no longer habitable for white, middle-class English people like me. It's a sad situation and worsens by the day. Other British cities are being destroyed in the same ways - by mass immigration, Islamification, corruption, crime and greed. The UK is close to finished, and I am making plans for emigration (despite my advanced age). Fortunately, I have the finance to be able to do this. I'll feel sorry for the indigenous British people I leave behind....

Same can regrettably said about New York City. We lived/worked in Manhattan when Giuliani and Bloomberg were each mayor. It was an enjoyable, clean and relatively safe city back then. Never imagined it would deteriorate as it has and so quickly, all of which began with Democrat and Communist leaning De Blasio as mayor.

Don't let this dissuade you from visiting this wonderful city. I went to the UK this summer, spent about 8 days in London and it was a great visit. Our hotel very close to all these locations and we walked on these exact streets. The only bad smells we came across was in Hyde Park (fresh horse poop that had been run over). There were a lot of the Romani gypsys begging and had tents in grassy medians and on the edges of parks, but we never saw any on the sidewalks. The phone snatching thing is a real issue and we did see those masked villains on ebikes and scooters. You have to be very aware how and when you use your phone. I would go for walks on my own (female in my 60s) at night, on busy street and walk along the Thames, never hassled (wanted to soak as much in.) The parks and museums are wonderful and free. Food is was cheaper than my last visit to NYC or Boston, and the quality and variety of cuisines is vast.
Visited several other areas in the UK, the other two I really enjoyed were Cornwall and my new favorite place on the planet Scotland. Wow what a beautiful country. The Scots are extra lovely people. Only spent 5 day in Scotland - Glasgow, Edinburgh, the Highlands (on walks) looking to go back for much longer and really explore.

I lived and worked in London from 1969-1982---then moved back home to New Yok City. This video almost made me cry. All my British friends told me about what I'd find if I came back--but I didn't believe it. Still......I will always remember the beautiful, gentle London where I spent some of my happiest years. Yes London used to be a 'gentle' city it used to be so safe here - as a female one could go for a walk in the park at 3am and be perfectly safe doing so, one could sunbathe in parks wearing the skimpiest bikinis and no-one would take any notice - now I'm too scared to walk to Tesco on own anymore and have to get everything delivered too scared to go out.

Yes, as an American have visited London .. a great place. However, we face similar situations in the USA… but DEPENDING where (State/city) you are. I am a native New Yorker during Rudy’s and Mike Bloomberg's time it was sweet. Unfortunately, the lug nuts voted in empty suits. I am hearing that people are finished with the BS at least in NYC. San Francisco, LA, Chicago, etc GOOD LUCK !! We are two weeks away from November 5th. Trump is elected, not that he is the be-all and end-all, we will stop the rush to the bottom. I hear from many Americans, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc they are finished with this insanity. My opinion may be wrong, IF TRUMP IS ELECTED keep your eyes open for a change of direction!
