I'm from Northwood Kirkby, and I grew up on Westhead Avenue. Left when I was 17 and joined the army. I now live in Northern Ireland, where I've been for the last 30 years. But I still love going back to Kirkby because that's where my heart is and the people are fantastic.

Thanks for this mate! I havent been there for years. I distinctly remember visiting my nan in Kennelwood Avenue and on Tuesdays we would go to the then vibrant 'Townie' to buy fresh produce and mooch for bargains. I treasure those memories! The Peacock a landmark then! Those Towers were suspect even then just like many of the flats in that area were no-go places for kids.If I remember correctly, these 'estates' on the outskirts of Liverpool, were the attempt of Liverpool council to remove people from the city centre -Scotland road/ The Bullring etc to relieve congestion and provide new affordable housing to Scousers. Such as in many other areas -Croxteth, Huyton etc which resulted in many people feeling isolated as transportation was few and far between. Of course, one excuse was the factories on the outskirts which employed many workers. Today however, these factories no longer exist. Kirkby sports centre, although it created much enthusiasm at the time was a huge dissappointment especially the ski slope! Get's you to thinking who is organizing the city and on what intents. Thank you once again for your content! Brought tears to my eyes! Walk on!
I watched Prayer before Dawn last night. What a fantastic film. I can't believe the Billy I watch every day has gone through so much. Best channel on TH-cam ❤
I left Kirkby in 1985 and headed south for work, Been here ever since. Some of the shops in the Townie: GangsGear -All Man Kind - Sayers - Midland Bank to name a few. It looks deserted. Lived in West Vale, Southdene, Northwood over the years.. It's changed so much. good upload Billy.
Years ago it would have been a bustling thriving shopping centre its sad so many shops closed now. People lovely that wee boy so cute! Another great video Billy always look forward to them love seeing all the towns i stay 8 miles from Glasgow
Love your Vlogs and Walkabouts Billy 😊 Kirkby reminds me so much of the estates up here in Newcastle as i was growing up, Rough and Ready with some Sound people Memories which will soon be lost forever, country has went downhill fast but great to see you keeping it so real you is one Top Fella Thanks Billy 👍

We used to pick shrooms in the mountains . Always good to go early as that was the best time . Then as Billy said we used to boil them up . The best way was in a pair of tights . Clean better of course .we boil them up for maybe over an hour . But we didn’t have sugar and it was disgusting . But if you want to see werewolves and the floor turn to water then go for it . 😊👍🏻

..I worked in part of kirby years ago it use to only take 40 mins to travel there by van from manchester because we use to get on junction next to manny airport, yeps I liked the area and the people ..yeh the elephant statue is mega ..3:46 more choice of shops needed, irs very spacious ..1 or 2 things to add to the space would attract people there ..yeps nice people who have chatted and its very peacefull n mellowed ..I,ve no idea about what it's like at the night ..its mega weird the sheild in the tree I've never seen anything like that ..5:52 bring back the butcher's and indoor markets I say ..8:20 I agree with billy there's a great choice of charity shops ..the precinct looks dark, dull and closed-in because of the way the structure has been built ..billy your right there alot of dosh has been spent on elephant on cannoo + ski slopes the wrong way around, the dosh should be spent on things that help the society which is a motto that the government/council should be sticking too ..if I was like primeminister there wouldn't be no such thing as poverty ..the word poverty would be abolished out the dictionary bigtime ..the government/council love the misery and they've pocketed loads from rundown areas, homelessness it's sickening !! ..13:20 the chair with wings is crazy man's it is great art all the same ..18:19 the peacock pub looking at it you can tell its been a class pub back in its day ..no pub should ever close because there great + they hold great history n also us blokes need a break from the Mr's now n again hahaha 😉 ..its not nice for the older generation see-ing pubs closing down ..arma got the guy who robbed vhs etc from your aunt billy ..yeh splended upload billy it brought alot of memories back to you + it will to the people who watch the upload ..👌🤟✌😎
Grew up in Kirkby. Early years taken to the Townie! by mum! Later going to All Mankind and various shops to get clothes and records!. . Vibrant, Clean, Proud place , with good people! Went back several years ago to the Town Centre for a couple of hours. I’m glad I moved away years ago!!!!!. Sad!
Haven't been o Kirkby for many years, how empty it looks. Sad seeing the Townie desolate. It's like most parts of Liverpool the winds of change turned up and all the places we once knew just wiped out. The odd familiar faces but mostly strangers you find it hard to make a connection with . Love your videos Billy, but they also leave me with an heavy heart thinking the people & places we knew that will never return. All them happy times back in the day just a good memory now. 😥
I grew up in Southdene. Lived there till I was 20. Loved the swimming baths, was in a concert in the Kirby civic suites in my teenage years, went to the J&A cinema all the time and was always in the town centre! Not been back in those 20 years so great to see it. Brought back a lot of memories ❤
Im a Londoner but my dad's from Southdene Kirkby when ever we visited Liverpool we always went for a drink in the Peacock 😊 Very nostalgic watchingi this video.
looking forward to the towerhill episode , Spent a few years there every weekend getting bladdered in the pingwood pub ,, jimmy cross was the manager of the pub ,, lovely people made me very welcome , love the vids bill

Monkey boots, snake belts and more importantly, most of our like wouldn’t have been watching the telly without the likes of Radio Rentals, they must’ve had good insurance cos they were constantly getting bumped for their tellys, videos and money boxes on the sides of the tellys. Another good quality vlog Billy, nice 1 lad. 🙏🏻✌️🏴
The elephant an the canoe is a "viking boat" the viking's settled in kirkby an used to have battles from St Chad's church to the junction by the McDonald's Billy,, full of history,, love the townie I was only there today lol Huyton is finished no shops well better in kirkby,,John aka "Spam" iv known all my life Bill it's sad when addition gets a grip ,, his older brother Bobby Melia was my Uncle who sadly passed 3 yrs ago true legand he was an is sadly missed by us all ❤️
hya billy, am from Kirkby, don't live there now so it was lovely to see the old place. Do you remember the children's home that was at the back of the roughwood pub, I was in there for a few years. I loved it because I could go across the bridge every night to tower hill and see all my mates. They got onto it and moved me to huyton. 😂 Lovely video
There's a hell of a lot of unused open space there that could be put to good use, but I guess if they can't finish a couple of new builds then there's not much chance of utilising it? As always great vid Billy and thanks for the bits of local history, it was interesting.
I thought I was first in the comments lol cannot wait to see Joe with you , Switching on the Christmas lights . . So much to say from the last few videos with mark and turbo but you're right with their manners they are not going to last a few days in that hotel. . You tried your best bully but you will find that 1 character who does want that help who you're viewers will love . . I totally get you I'm pretty similar to you Billy that's the sort of thing I would do find somebody who has that character about them but really wants the help and you cannot help everybody you can only give love and guidance but that 1 special person you will give that little bit extra too . . I know what you was thinking very disappointing with turbot he had the mobile phone some credit he could have even got a pound to put in the phone box to call you to let you know he was in a hotel . . I will say finally and I didn't want to Turbo Anthony it's pretty smart he knew exactly what he was doing and mark new all the time what he was up to , It was all about the handouts bro especially the green paper there was nothing going to be returned just false words promises and more BS . . It's water under the bridge you're a strong guy you have a beautiful family dust your hands and move on , If Turbo does come forward in the future shows a massive improvement that he has changed then fair play but until then > you've wiped your feet Billy , you did your part and showed a lot of love more than he deserved . . Well for mark as they say a pig Loves nothing more than rolling around in its own poop . . Just sat down to watch the video eating my tea . . Stay Safe , Much Love to you and family , give Joe a high 5 from me 🤜💥🤛💯💖🎄🎁☃️❄️
Anyone else notice how clean Kirby was ? ..compared to some of the towns you visit Kirby was spotless , says much about the pride people hold there area ..
I live in Kirkby for a last 5 Years moved from London. Its lovely nice place with very nice and welcoming people. Streets are very tidy and looked after
Billy crosby baths had three also. The ski slope was a big back gander. They built it out of builders rubble. They put a advertisement in the echo saying free tipping. It had bath taps rubble lengths of timber. Crazy.
Are the mercer heights still there ? the flats by St Kevs ? You could do an hour-long special on that building, the amount of people who died flying from those flats is insane....
Some great stories / memories Billy. Ever think about taking a walk around the old Brookside houses ? Never missed that show when I was growing up. Thanks again.
Enjoyed this video Billy 👍 magic mushrooms had some good laughs from talking them we used to make tea from them but best dried out to powder stronger trip
Great video. I grew up in Rainford and Kirkby was the Bogeyman. Looking at it now it looks a lot better than some other places. Hope you check out the new railway station.
I grew up briefly in top end of Northwood (Jarrett Rd) before we moved up to Southport The old towny was best. In-shops. Had a good game shop near the indoor cafe. Had lots of fun in there as a kid. My brother Justin has got the bed shop near the Market.
Billy if you are ever down in Gloucester pop in to Me and the Mrs Pub (The Doctors, near the city centre} and have a meal. For free obviously lol Great channel, we really enjoy it.
Love seeing kids going to boxing should be mandatory ! I love boxing myself. Everybody should be able to defend themselves and learn discipline. Councils can't even be arsed to try and do anything for communities now... nevermind ski slopes 😂
Mushrooms, try boiling a few thousand and pouring into a chicken or mushroom cupa soup. They taste alot better and everything is in cartoon mode. Definitely wouldn't try it now after 30 years, but they where crazy times 😜
Noce trip down memory lane Billy. I did silly sidebins, but only a couple of times. I found them a lot kinder than LSD, which has dark corners that can can cause you horrors. I was OK but my mate wasn't. The last 5 trips were all bummers for him, so I had the nurse him through them and then said enough ! Didn't do any more after that. Maybe I was lucky, but my mate wasn't, he was in a nightmare. I've never gone onto harder stuff, always kept to weed which I still adore :) Cheers M8 :)
God you took me back to my teenage yrs I went to st Gregory's school an use to drink in peacock an woodpecker thanks for bringing my good memories back billy ❤❤
Brings back some memories myself this does Billy. Used to go around Kirkby a lot. You could go Sunderland if not already. You also have Redcar, Hartlepool, Sunderland and Blyth all on the North East costal towns. Any worth a visit. Sunderland is deprived but nice people, I was told by my mate that Hendon is the worst part.
Great video as always billy lad sad to see once great communities run down to lack of investment keep up the great work hope you and family are ok and well and your joe ❤
Blessings Billy, it's reminded me of a place called swindon Sussex Square and Cavendish Square back in 1970 Billy it has a community still and Beautiful people. Onwards and upwards Billy. 7:59
Reminds me of Stevenage Town Centre - stuck in the 70s.. why can’t they just spend money and make our towns and cities worth visiting. Seems like such a friendly town. Do you do any towns further south? Peterborough etc Love your videos - my dad put me on to them and I am hooked! Thank you x
Good job you do that introduction each time reminds me to like the video, can remember making mushroom tea the taste of dirt was unreal 😂😂 so we got a bottle of captain Morgan to wash it down. First dinosaur I saw aswell😮
Yes Billy lad the Shrooms.....i have to say Mushys saved my life.....They say they are AWESOME for PTSD and Addiction......Next time your out and meet some poor souls locked in the 'Grip' suggest them to people, I have a mate who was a massive coke head and he took shrooms and now he's Much Better......Thanks for your videos. God Bless..
The first time I did mushy tea I was on moorland in West Yorkshire chasing sheep at night they were all glowing in different colours but each sheep stayed their own colour, looked like they had lightbulbs inside them, finally got home to scorpions dripping out from my roof 😁 good times.
Walked past turbo and mark in the doorway near Piccadilly gardens Looks like there not got hotel accommodation turbo was spread out leaning against door looking relaxed mark was in his wheelchair looking agitated talking to 2 other people great videos thank you for great content keep that camera rolling.
Mark and turbo won’t be able to stick to any sort of hotel regime, it's sad because It looks like their both addicted to chaos, but that's wrong, they need treatment... Taking those lads off the street and placing them in a hotel with normal rules will never work, it's the silence and the fact they will have to listen to their own inner voice which will be the main thing they'll be fighting against.....silence is the main thing that will drive them back to the streets, because it's the silence that kills people with undiagnosed mental illnesses in the end.....everything else is a band-aid, I hope they get the help they really need...
Love your channel lad, so real and people really need to see what goes on behind the curtain in our society. So many people turn a blind eye to it all yet most families in modern UK will know someone who is suffering from addiction problems whether they want to admit or not. Keep up the awesome work mate, genuinely believe your channel is making a difference 👍👊👍🫡
Got anxiety watching this thank god I live and grew up in town 🙏 visited kirby as a kid in the 70s I was traumatised not seeing anything but them ole arse houses everywhere it still look the same 😢 good video 🙌
:-) We used to put Vimto in our Mushy Tea haha! The good ol' days of the Thunderdome on a Friday night followed by The Hacienda and Blackburn Raves on a Saturday. Unfortunately the next 30+ years followed a similar story as your own. Buvidal has been a blessing and I'm hopeful that side of my story is over. Keep up the good work. GG from Manchester.
I'm 62 and went back for a look at my old junior school.. I went into the classroom and i was very overwhelmed time goes so fast.. Great memories for you Billy..

Billy crosby baths had three also. The ski slope was a big back gander. They built it out of builders rubble. They put a advertisement in the echo saying free tipping. It had bath taps rubble lengths of timber. Crazy.
I read that as Bill Cosby Baths then 😂
Thanks for the memories of my home town. Sad in places but still home.

Best TH-cam channel around by far! Top work billy👊
Another great video Billy✊🏻🙏🏻💯
Great video. I grew up in Rainford and Kirkby was the Bogeyman. Looking at it now it looks a lot better than some other places. Hope you check out the new railway station.
Wow that kid hugging u was real touching just shows you the impact yv had ❤
Great content, Billy 👌
Great vlog as usual billy lad. The town center does look quiet but theres no graffiti which is unbelievable really.
I grew up briefly in top end of Northwood (Jarrett Rd) before we moved up to Southport
The old towny was best. In-shops. Had a good game shop near the indoor cafe. Had lots of fun in there as a kid. My brother Justin has got the bed shop near the Market.
Been watching yer channel for a few weeks and was interested in history.. all I can say is respect mate ❤
Billy if you are ever down in Gloucester pop in to Me and the Mrs Pub (The Doctors, near the city centre} and have a meal. For free obviously lol Great channel, we really enjoy it.
After a long hard day there’s nothing better than sitting down with a Brevlle sandwich and beer to watch Billy Moore 😊
Love seeing kids going to boxing should be mandatory ! I love boxing myself. Everybody should be able to defend themselves and learn discipline.
Councils can't even be arsed to try and do anything for communities now... nevermind ski slopes 😂
Straightened me out, and i was able to defend myself properly
Mushrooms, try boiling a few thousand and pouring into a chicken or mushroom cupa soup. They taste alot better and everything is in cartoon mode. Definitely wouldn't try it now after 30 years, but they where crazy times 😜
Top man Billy, keep up the great work . Billy your the voice of the downtrodden in our society.
You’re a top man to mate .
Kirkby looks quite a decent place, the people are very friendly, then again scousers are very friendly with a great sense of humour.
Trust me mate it's not. Rough as fuck
Got to go there to come back out kid. Respect love and loyalty.xxxx
Blessings Billy, it's reminded me of a place called swindon Sussex Square and Cavendish Square back in 1970 Billy it has a community still and Beautiful people. Onwards and upwards Billy. 7:59
Love a Liverpool accent theirs so many lovely English accents
Reminds me of Stevenage Town Centre - stuck in the 70s.. why can’t they just spend money and make our towns and cities worth visiting. Seems like such a friendly town. Do you do any towns further south? Peterborough etc
Love your videos - my dad put me on to them and I am hooked! Thank you x
Good job you do that introduction each time reminds me to like the video, can remember making mushroom tea the taste of dirt was unreal 😂😂 so we got a bottle of captain Morgan to wash it down. First dinosaur I saw aswell😮
I look forward to watching this at tea time like i did neighbours back in the day. Good work bill.
One of your best podcasts billy, think your turning into Billy Attenborough of the city 🙃✌️
Walked past turbo and mark in the doorway near Piccadilly gardens
Looks like there not got hotel accommodation turbo was spread out leaning against door looking relaxed mark was in his wheelchair looking agitated talking to 2 other people great videos thank you for great content keep that camera rolling.
I wish them both well for the future and someday find the strength to ask for help and succeed and take charge of their lives and find happiness.
Looks nice n clean, and no vandalism, unlike lots of town centres now
Love your channel lad, so real and people really need to see what goes on behind the curtain in our society.

GG from Manchester.
cracking video, really enjoyed that, cheers Bill, mad that SG was called Dutchy lol
Fell 8 floors for a VHS player lol
Great video once again Billy !!!
looks cold and damp. Can't remember the last time I was in Kirkby, probably 80s... bit sad seeing it like that.
Good vlog 👍. Take it easy Billy
