I had a pair of nude shoes (mid-heels) that I wore constantly during the first years of my career, in the 1980s. I never found a single pair for 35 years or so afterward, despite constant searching. I am so glad they came back, nothing is more flattering, whether flat, mid-heel, or high-heels. Thanks for another great video.

I love ballet flats. I don't have a huge shoe collection, but I have four pairs of ballet flats. An extra bonus is that they are easy to pack and/or store since they are small.

I have been wearing sneakers and flats for two years, after chiropractor injured my lower spine. 😔
I am healed after yoga, walking, and biking. 🙂
Merci, you reminded me I have a red pair of flats, I have never worn!
Your red pair are my favorite!! 😍
I am cast in the Musical Anything Goes, I'm the eldest female cast member at 57. Because I can tap dance again! Thank you Ballet flats! Hopefully,we will perform next Spring. 🙏

I've worn my pale gray sneakers hundred's of times and they still look almost new. I absolutely love them. When we buy quality even in our sneakers they last so much longer. My favorites are converse. I like the high tops best.

All the shoes you showed were lovely! As always :) I like flats very much, and prefer those that are "almost flat" (rather than completely flat )as they feel and look more comfortable and flattering on me - also I was told no heels at all isn't good for poor blood circulation in legs prone to varicose veins, or plantar fasciitis when walking a lot.

@@MarieAnneLecoeur I remember once reading that 'nothing screams old more than flats'. I don't agree - I think ballet pumps are very Bardot. I think Marilyn Monroe was lovely but her style was very high maintenance. Bridget Bardot had a more effortless, laid back look which I believe was more sexy.

Another terrific video!! I love ballet flats, but they are not comfortable for me if I'm walking too long, as I get sore feet and back! If I'm going for dinner or a movie, where I will be sitting a lot, they are beautiful! I love the low heel wedge sandals you have! Those are really cute and comfortable!! The great thing about you, Marie-Anne, is you are classic styled individual, and yet you can also carry off a pair of Converse and look even more adorable!! 💗

Hello again. I am working my way through your videos. I switched to flat shoes a long time ago and had a great collection but after I broke my ankle in 2015 had to switch to what are called “comfort” shoes . There are several good brands but I have also learned that Clark’s and Cole Hann make comfortable and at least semi-stylish shoes. I have a lovely pair of blush colored Cole Hann flats I bought at the end of summer last year , but who know when I will wear them!

Absolutely liked the wedges best. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I hate flats. High heels are so flattering to a woman’s body, and they can be so elegant if you wear the right pair! I lean towards wedges when I can find a pair I like, but it is often difficult to find them for winter wear. I have so many pair of Vince Camuto, Carlos Santana, Kenneth Cole & Cole Hahn heels that I can’t bear to give away … especially my 4” turquoise, pointed toe leather heels. And, yes, I had many outfits they went with. So very sad to me! I want your snakeskin pumps😊

My problem with completely flat shoes is that I find my feet turn out to the '10 to 2" ( clock) position and I walk badly. I absolutely agree that low to medium height wedge sandals are great for summer with both trousers, jeans and skirts. I have just discovered Marie-Anne and I am thoroughly enjoying all the insights and tips. I used to live in France, but I was young and wore whatever was cheap and cheerful - and got away with it!

I just watched some of the SS 21 fashion shows, and I love Chanel’s slingback, nearly flat, low-vamp sandals. I won’t be able to afford a pair, but I hope more reasonably-priced designers will make some look-alikes, for faraway summer 2021. In genuine leather, though, my feet reject plastic shoes.

I think the ballet flats are so pretty, especially the red. I love how you've styled them with your St. James sweater with its single red stripe. (By the way, St. James is sold in Montreal, Canada
I discovered. The boutique is called Jourdain. I ordered a navy and white striped 3/4 sleeve top which is fitted and has UV protection.Just love it!). Back to shoes, I love wedges or espadrilles as they provide height, but are comfortable if they aren't too high. I also love wearing gold flat sandals which can be worn with dresses, skirts or pants and can look a little dressier than a brown or nude sandal. The brand Cole Haan in the US has a wonderful sandal called the "Anica". Very cushioned and comfortable, but not dowdy.

    • @kimberlyperrotis8962
      @kimberlyperrotis8962 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I searched for a mariniere (sorry, undoubtedly misspelled), and found St. James online (I’m in USA). They were the only ones to offer a medium/royal blue and white stripe like Marianne’s. It’s very nice, made in France so high-quality, but is Unisex sizing, so it’s tight in the bust and big in the shoulders. I kept it anyway and will try to block it into a better shape and fit after I wash it, and dry flat.

    • @carolbohn5900
      @carolbohn5900 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kimberlyperrotis8962 It's too bad St. James isn't available in the U.S. I don't think Jourdain ships there either, but you could check. This is a good reason to go to France!

Hi Marie-Anne Thankyou for this video. I have a pair of ballet flats almost identical to the first pair of flats. I bought them shortly before lockdown happened and i love them. Soft leather and beautiful. Flats number 2 are gorgeous. They do suit you so. Very chic. I have a pair of summer wedges also but mine go right up to top of the foot with cut out toe and strap around the back. They are 4years old now and i'm still wearing them. I receive compliments each time i wear them. And last summer i purchased a pair of silver laceup sneaker type shoes. So comfortable and again many compliments. So now you know about my flats. I see Coco just loves to be in on the videos. Lol xx Kindest regards Bev xx

It seems that my favourite flat shoes are ballerinas 🤩 I had silver, rose gold, black and exactly like yours red patent leather. Almost copy of them 🤣 I loved them so much but they are all worn out. Atm in my collection are left only 3 pairs - cognac colour suede, patent nude (they were just unbelievable resilient 😄but sadly going to leave my collection soon) and new pair of Ted Baker white off ballerinas.
I am not really big fan of sneakers, mostly I wear them for sport and dog walking and long walks in a park. But in Australia you just need some pair of sneakers for practicality. Have my old Converse keds in gold and white. Have to think about new ones. And yes - Navy pointe ballerinas on my list as well 😀
P.S. I danced ballet in my childhood and love ballet performances now. Maybe that influenced my passion for ballet shoes 🤣

I especially liked the red ballet flats, but I wouldn't often wear them myself because I'm too short; I usually like a small heel. I also find ballet flats and pumps tend to slide off my feet! (though recently I've discovered a little trick: I put a piece of double-sided sticky tape inside the heel). And I must admit I got distracted a bit here and there because of your cute doggies 🥰

I've been in love with your red ballet flats since I first saw them. I looked for some like them and nothing measured up. It's time to look, again. I just looked and OMG!, I found a pair on Amazon that look just like yours, although they're not real patent leather. I'm going to order them, anyway and they're only $25.99.
I'm not a Converse girl -- never have been. They're just not my style. I do like simple canvas shoes we have always called tennis shoes. I have a small foot and tennis shoes are not in the least bulky. They have a small look, which is more flattering with my petite frame and height.
Your wedges look very attractive with your jeans.
Ballet flats are my favorite flat shoe. I have several pair. I am only 5'2", but I can wear them with the right pants.

Bonjour Marie-Anne. My favourites are the ballet flats. I try to buy them with arch support because I have s high instep. I remember when Princess Diana made them popular in the early 1980’s. I’ve loved them ever since because they’re so comfortable and are so flattering. I’m looking for a nice nude like those, with padded arch support.
I did have a pair of wedges in the 1970’s but they’re so flat and don’t have any give so it isn’t good for the foot, especially for those of us with high arches because it strains the foot. I feel too clumpy walking in them if you know what I mean. If you step on uneven ground you topple and can really hurt your ankle so not for me. Yours did look smart though.
The ballet flat style espadrilles were cute. I’d get a lot of wear out of them. I also liked the sneakers. I’ve been looking for a nice pair. I liked the colour combination with the nude upper and white sole. That’s a great option with your white jeans, rather than all white. I hadn’t thought of that. It looks good. I’d wear those when we go to the country like we did today, to a kiosk in the river, or walking the dog - how cute is yours by the way, adorable.
They all suit you. Great collection. I have some navy flats I’m practically living in at the moment. So smart and so comfortable. Not sure how to describe them ... slip on like a ballet flat, but they come up a bit higher on the top and they have that cutout look over the entire upper.

The heel height on the low wedges is about the same as it is on my light gray sneakers so I think I'll try to find something like that since I can no longer wear the stilettos that I love so much. I really like shoes in a snakeskin print but I prefer them in back and gray My snakeskin stilettos were the most difficult heels to give up aside from my black ankle high boots with the kitten heel.

I really like the red patent flats. However, I would not wear ballet flats if I was going to have to walk a good bit. I learned that the hard way. They have no support for you foot. I had a really nice pair of navy ballet flats that i wore on a garden tour. I thought my feet were going to fall off and there was a small hole in the leather sole. I only wear them now when I know a lot of walking will not be involved.

Hi again, MA. I don’t know if you are looking for content ideas, but here are some topics that I would love to see you tackle: 1. Dressing for rectangles (especially how to get a decent fit when my waist is only about 5-6 inches smaller than my bust/shoulders and hips - which are well-balanced, I just have a very difficult time findings clothes that are big enough for my waist, but that don’t overwhelm me elsewhere); 2. Best eyeglasses for different face shapes, some of us can’t wear contacts, sadly); 3. Best decent quality, but affordable leather shoes, best mid-heel shoes (up to 2.5 inch height), and/or best designer look-alike shoes; 4. Monochrome, or tonal, especially light-colored outfits for summer; and 5. Classy outfits for very hot days (100F and up), which seem to be occurring more often where I live, we had three really brutal heat waves before mid-June already this year. Also, what’s your feeling about untanned skin? I wear sunscreen, can’t stand sunbathing or fake tanning. Yes, I’m pale, but people always tell me I should get a tan, to “look more healthy“, I am healthy, just light-skinned, however much I long to be cafe au lait color!. Is tanning really that necessary? We wouldn’t tell medium or dark-skinned people to bleach themselves! As always, looking forward to your next video!

Marie-Anne, I love ballerines comfort and chic is the way you go, they're a classic. I still don't get why some people think ballerines are little girls' shoes. (I suppose those people don't know what elegance means?)

I really appreciate this video on flat shoes and however my limitation would be that I have wide feet and wearing ballet flats makes them look even wider. If I were to wear flats then my preference would be the ones with pointed toes. As for sneakers, Converse is quite frankly my least favorite as they are just too masculine for me and yet while they they appear this way for me, I can see that they absolutely work for other women. I would rather choose the Michael Kors city sneaker, Calvin Klein city sneaker or Superga for wearing out and about. Just a bit of feedback here and thank you, Marie-Anne.

I love your site and books. I am curious about advice you have for hourglasses who have to wear flats for medical reasons. I'm aware that you recommend heels for hourglasses. Is there a type of flat that looks better or elongates well for an hourglass to maintain balance? My lower back doesn't do well with heels. :( I'm working on healing my injury so I can go back to heels.

Good morning Madame! I loved the video- I will tell you that anything concerning shoes or handbags catches my attention, and this was no exception. My favorite pair were the LK Bennett pair of nude flats- they are something that I could use. What do you think of the Chanel cap-toe slingback style of shoe? I have a pair that I really like and that I think are nice for summer because they are putty and black.
I also really enjoyed the video with the recipes for the appetizers and now that we are out of lockdown I am hoping to have a little cocktail party of my own to celebrate featuring those very ones.
Thank you so much for your videos.

Bonjour Marie-Anne, je Vous adore pour long temp and merci pour voter videos! J’ai un grand question pour Vous! I switch to English now as I’m a bit better. I’m a woman with flat feet that has to wear insoles made specifically for me. The choice of summer shoes for me is sooo small. What brands are good that give us a bit more choice when it comes to orthopaedic shoes? Do we even have more choice? Is there anything else you could recommend us? Please and thank you!!!

Do you ever wear leopard or cheetah? The snake print does seem to be more neutral. Do you have a video on animal prints? When I wear animal print, I only wear one piece of clothing with an animal print but I see people in cheetah from head to toe. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if the colors in the all the pieces matched. I just tossed most of my shoes and bought a couple pairs of leather loafers. Excited to see more of your videos.

I wish I could wear flat shoes more often. However my legs are short and thick even though I belong to the X shaped body type so I feel very self-conscious about the line created on my legs. I own a pair of red mary janes, a pair of brown oxfords for kids, and purple ballet flats. Ballet flats are more difficult for me to wear because I have an 8 mm size difference between left and right foot.

I love them all! I live in southern Italy were many streets are cobblestone, high heels are not practical. I love a classic ballet flat. I have had a very difficult time replacing my old worn our flats. I recently told a friend, the next time we go to Florence or Milan I am going to buy several pairs of flats! I love the items you featured, especially the red and the the nude. Are they available on line? Once again, thank you for your informative video. Ciao
