Reviewed: 2013 Ducati 696 with ABS. This is a review considering the relatively new rider's perspective. This bike was found to be surprisingly confidence building in terms of seat height, cornering, slipper clutch, balance and sitting position. The bike is not too aggressively configured (throttle or gearing) for the new rider. This bike would make a great choice for a relatively new rider but for the price: $9,295. But, you get what you pay for, and this bike is fantastic. The thing that impressed us the most--the cornering. Amazing.
Special Attention: A new owner should get used to the brakes with hard stop practice. The brakes are not aggressive to help new riders avoid over braking, but that makes them seem soft at first (and the foot lever is small). So, do some parking lot practice to get a feel for the brakes. Perfect bike for an advanced MSF class.
Thank you for this review. I could not agree with you more on all the points. It is my first bike as far as "getting back into riding bike" as I had several bikes back in my younger days but after 20 yr lay off on riding I find this bike perfect. The handling is ridiculous, like it's on Rails! I put a 14 tooth sprocket on it and then a set of Termi's, and K&N air filter, and it's super responsive, very quick and so light. I highly recommend one of these bikes and not necessarily to a first timer, but also to someone who wants a killer bike, state of the art handling and brakes, but doesn't want to be a squid or speed demon.
Edit: And just fyi, it will easily Power Wheelie in First gear, so keep an eye out for that.

I'm about to upgrade to a Monster 696 from my CBR 250 R. I hope it makes me satisfied with my choice..
