Our 2 cultures (Mexican/Filipino) has big similarities because during the Spanish colonial era, Mexico and The Philippines have traded thru the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade, so during those times, we created a strong ties with each other and some even intermarried creating a unique features on both sides.
Those blogs that sometimes involve our mothers are so much fun, I really love to watch them again n again. Because the mother is more important than everyone and of course our father too. but often our mother is the conscientious objector to all we want to do.❤️

When I visited US last 3 years ago, an American-Mexican friend/co-worker of mine, invited me with her family's mini fiesta. One thing I've noticed immediately is how Mexican or Latin food really resembles and taste like a Filipino dish!!😆 Some have the same name, other have different but has the same look and even taste!!😆 It's like I'm eating in a Filipino Fiesta. The difference is that Filipino adds pasta dish, like bihon, pancit , etc.. Since we're still Asian with a Latin mix.😅😅 Love your channel!!❤️❤️🇵🇭

camote cue is a recommended dessert/snack too, its a sweet potato coated with sugar then deep-fried, it's really tasty. my other favorite Filipino dish is bulanlang, and silog meals (meat dish + sinangag or fried rice + sunny side egg). I also highly recommend to eat this Filipino food it can be a snack or eaten with rice, its Balot or Balut, its a duck embryo but its really tasty especially when dipped in vinegar with onions and red chili

It's fun and delicious. Maybe have a Filipino help you do it or do it at a Filipino restaurant, they'll be happy to prepare it for you.

One of the reason why it reminds you of Mexican cusine/Culture is because Philippines and Mexico is under one Spanish Empire before. So because of direct trades and exchanges they got each other's tradition and culture. God bless and love from the 🇵🇭

A lot of the time when we say we have a lot of Spanish influence, it's usually by way of Mexico as the Philippines was administered from the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) until they gained independence. This is why a lot of the food may remind them of Mexican food. Some of our dishes with Hispanic influences were made for people from Mexico missing who miss food from home. It's in things like tamales and champorado, where instead of using corn or masa, people in the Philippines used rice instead. And the chicharon. A lot of food dishes existed and just got named Spanish names, but some things like things with chocolate would have come from Mexico.
@@dayangmarikit6860 True, I just looked it up and there's mangoes for one... and surprisingly, Filipinos settling Mexico making tuba from coconuts apparently resulted in Mexicans applying the technique to agave. Tequila, a very Mexican icon, is a result of this exchange. That's pretty amazing.

One of the reason why it reminds you of Mexican cusine/Culture is because Philippines and Mexico is under one Spanish Empire before. So because of direct trades and exchanges they got each other's tradition and culture.

Yeah. A lot of the time when we say we have a lot of Spanish influence, it's usually by way of Mexico as the Philippines was administered from the Viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) until they gained independence. This is why a lot of the food may remind them of Mexican food. Some of our dishes with Hispanic influences were made for people from Mexico missing who miss food from home. It's in things like tamales and champorado, where instead of using corn or masa, people in the Philippines used rice instead. And the chicharon. A lot of food dishes existed and just got named Spanish names, but some things like things with chocolate would have come from Mexico.
Also influences aren't a one way street... a lot of local goods from the Philippines were also exported to Mexico.
@@dayangmarikit6860 True, I just looked it up and there's mangoes for one... and surprisingly, Filipinos settling Mexico making tuba from coconuts apparently resulted in Mexicans applying the technique to agave. Tequila, a very Mexican icon, is a result of this exchange. That's pretty amazing.

Philippines has 7k plus islands and each region has its own version of the same type of food and you gonna love and enjoy them eating as you travel region by region there.
I love your mom enjoying the foof knowing herself had the passion of cooking spanish food...in one way or the other contributed a good historic part of the Filipino's taste buds. You mentioned "Balbakua" we do have it too, please try the Filipino one.
