I've shared this with every other reactor that has reacted to this song. This video came out at midnight for PTX Patreon supporters on the day I had surgery for kidney cancer. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep, and I was scared, lonely. After watching this video, my tears turned to ones of joy and hope, and I was finally able to rest. This last December, I was able to get a VIP ticket to their Christmas concert and share that story with them and personally thank them. Best moment of my life. Beautiful reaction, your tears say it all!
What gets me about Mitch’s singing isn’t just his clarity and clear diction (at every level) but how relaxed he is while doing it. I don’t believe I have ever seen him straining to reach/hold a note or noted stress/tension in his face or throat. Fantastic training and discipline.

I've watched it hundreds of times and it still makes me well up every time. The call and response between Mitch and Scott is honestly one of the most beautiful things I think I've ever heard. When Kirsty belts with Mitch that is incredible too and Matt and Kevin provide the perfect bass and accompaniment. It's such a gorgeous arrangement.
One can't help but get emotional listening/watching this PTX version. It doesn't have to be at Christmas either. Whether our personal worlds are in pain and turmoil, or the world in general, we all need to take a moment and request "The Prayer" This song always gets to me, watching your reaction, I became a water faucet once again.
I too consider The Prayer to be their best song yet. There is a cover they do that you really need to react to that very few people react to. It's the quietest song they do and when they do it live, they put down their microphones on the floor, stand in a tight circle, and just sing to and for themselves, even when there's a crowd of thousands. It's called "My Heart with You" and is the most perfect blending of voices I've ever heard. Two of the five members of Pentatonix have said it is the song they enjoy doing most.

Hello Barry! YOU are the reason I started watching reaction videos. I first saw you doing "Hallelujah", I believe. The look on your face when you received that epic monumental Mitch Slap was pure joy and total shock. You're so engaging, so knowledgeable, and your love of music is absolutely leaping off the screen. I always love Pentavirgin reactions, and 99% of the time people who were skeptical ended up Pentaholics. With Hallelujah, I'm always looking to see how the Slap lands. LOL I've only seen two reactions where the person did not drop their mouths open, raise eyebrows, get bug-eyes, say "WTF" or "that's impossible", fall off the chair, need a break, or any combination of the above. Those who don't react have no soul. Now, The Prayer... I knew you would get teary without your title to tell me so. I was STUNNED that you hadn't posted a reaction until now. Very much worth the wait, right? I watched for your reaction to Mitch's flourishes and phrase endings because those were insanely beautiful. He is angelic with his pure and clear tone. Scott's Italian was lovely, Kirstie killed on her featured phrases and harmonies. Kevin was, as usual, bringing in amazing beats and sounds. I was so hoping to hear you discuss Matt. He gets his own paragraph! To date, I've seen only ONE "Prayer" reactor ever mention him, and it is truly confounding to me because Matt's bass line in this is SO DAMN GOOD. He was a solid presence throughout, but especially in the bridge... "where pain and sorrow would be ended...after the word 'children'. His very low tones, dropping down the scale, were everything in that moment as the trio sang "reaching out to touch you, reaching to the sky". It was understated and perfect in every way. His timbre, sound placement, and movement is perfection. I really thought you'd be the second to give him a shout out! I understand there's SO much to absorb with PTX that you can't possibly speak to all of it. That'd be a VERY long video. Their sync, pitch, phrasing, dynamics, and brilliant arrangements are second to none. Upgrades, not covers. LOL And can we just say vowel matching, phrase endings, and diphthongs? All perfectly done. I have sung most of my life, including a capella for 10+ years, and I have never heard any group be that good on all levels. Keep them coming! You are delightful to watch. I've also listened to your own vocals; you have brightness, feeling, and clarity when you sing. Lovely!

YOU are the reason I started watching reaction videos. I first saw you doing "Hallelujah", I believe. The look on your face when you received that epic monumental Mitch Slap was pure joy and total shock. You're so engaging, so knowledgeable, and your love of music is absolutely leaping off the screen.
I always love Pentavirgin reactions, and 99% of the time people who were skeptical ended up Pentaholics. With Hallelujah, I'm always looking to see how the Slap lands. LOL I've only seen two reactions where the person did not drop their mouths open, raise eyebrows, get bug-eyes, say "WTF" or "that's impossible", fall off the chair, need a break, or any combination of the above. Those who don't react have no soul.
Now, The Prayer... I knew you would get teary without your title to tell me so. I was STUNNED that you hadn't posted a reaction until now. Very much worth the wait, right? I watched for your reaction to Mitch's flourishes and phrase endings because those were insanely beautiful. He is angelic with his pure and clear tone. Scott's Italian was lovely, Kirstie killed on her featured phrases and harmonies. Kevin was, as usual, bringing in amazing beats and sounds. I was so hoping to hear you discuss Matt. He gets his own paragraph!
To date, I've seen only ONE "Prayer" reactor ever mention him, and it is truly confounding to me because Matt's bass line in this is SO DAMN GOOD. He was a solid presence throughout, but especially in the bridge... "where pain and sorrow would be ended...after the word 'children'. His very low tones, dropping down the scale, were everything in that moment as the trio sang "reaching out to touch you, reaching to the sky". It was understated and perfect in every way. His timbre, sound placement, and movement is perfection. I really thought you'd be the second to give him a shout out! I understand there's SO much to absorb with PTX that you can't possibly speak to all of it. That'd be a VERY long video.
Their sync, pitch, phrasing, dynamics, and brilliant arrangements are second to none. Upgrades, not covers. LOL
And can we just say vowel matching, phrase endings, and diphthongs? All perfectly done. I have sung most of my life, including a capella for 10+ years, and I have never heard any group be that good on all levels.
Keep them coming! You are delightful to watch. I've also listened to your own vocals; you have brightness, feeling, and clarity when you sing. Lovely!
It hit me the same way it did you. Absolute beauty draws emotions from us all that often just open the floodgates. I find that PTX does that to me more than any other musical group. They are simply amazing, as are you, Barry!

Barry, I cried like a baby the first time I heard Pentatonix sing this song, which was about a year ago, and I cried again today listening to it and watching your emotional reaction. Your reaction today was spot on! We just needed to watch your face to know how you felt. No words were necessary. One can only feel that rendition.
