I think this is my favorite Pentatonix song. Great to hear Matt's lovely voice start the song, and then Kevin at the end is a real treat. They all sound incredible!! I agree Barry.... amazing!! LOVE your reaction!!!💖💖💖
Perfect setting. Beautiful harmonies. I have heard this medley before but not nearly as beautifully, perfectly done. What can I say about the Pentatonix version? There are not enough adjectives... extraordinary, breathtaking, awe-inspiring, sensational. I am going to listen again and again. The more I hear Kirstin sing the more I love her voice. She is a real powerhouse and a beautiful woman. Amazing Grace has always seemed Celtic to my ear. Never more than when I attended a funeral on a foggy winter night outdoors and Amazing Grace was only an instrumental version played on bagpipes. Haunting. RR
This arrangement includes some very rare elements that help make it exceptional. Starting with Matt taking the lead, ending with a rare (and always special) solo from Kevin, Mitch showing the depth and beauty of his lower range and most especially Kirsti given chance to show the full power and glory of her stupendous voice. This leaves me breathless and a little teary every time. Thank you so much,Barry for this and for all of the wonderful work you have done and continue to do. All the best of peace and joy of the season to you and yours!
Hello Barry, hello friends of PTX The one who looked the most beautiful in white, for me, was Matt 😉 But obviously they're all beautiful, aren't they? ❤🤣
33.- She was with her babies in a booth where we kept the field work tools, baskets, and things like that. With wooden floors, boards that sang when you walked on them (how I miss that sound!). We had made a bed for her with wool (the invaluable contribution of the sheep) wrapped in an old sheet. She knew that everyone here was safe and warm. And one morning, she left. Their children were 5 days old. My grandfather and I started to worry a few hours later, it was too long to leave the babies alone, and they would cry. My grandmother began with one of her sermons about the amount of trouble that all those animals, which were not ours, gave us, why we had to attend to everything when a living being appeared at the door (it was a manner of speaking: they came by everywhere, the door was not necessary), and went on with her angry comments for a very long time. My grandfather didn't say anything; he changed his clothes and left. Changing clothes was normal: nobody can be surrounded by so many animals and go out in the same clothes. There you had to go with your clothes on, and just when you got there put on something that could get dirty, get hairy or break. That was normal. But for my grandfather to leave when 13 kittens were alone, no; that was not.
I love your stories Ana, I would say these were simpler times, but only if you were used to very hard work. So were they really simple? I just know Grandfather had a motive for leaving. I think I would love your Grandfather.
Did you mean to say, "made a bed for "her", not him"? And, later, "He" left, should have been "She" and then later you are talking about your grandmother and said, "his" angry comments. If so, I need to go back, there is another interpretation of the story. (And, could be just changing it from one language to another) BUT... Ack! 13 five day old kittens are going to be a handful. Can't wait to see what unfolds. Love... LOVE "With wooden floors, boards that sang when you walked on them" They do that, don't they? Love these stories, Ana. ❤ Keep em coming!
@@StorytimeWithLana Brilliant! That's how I like it! be careful while reading! XD oh, God... I do nothing but screw up with the translations! Sorry Sorry sorry! I think it's already fixed!

Thank you for sending me this way. It is always a treat reading your writing. They are like little presents. I think I have said this before, but it is true. Claro que si. Like Lana, I loved the wooden flower description. You send me on journeys into my past. That took me to one. 🥰
The first note I thought it was Scott for a second😀. This song shows each of their talents perfectly. It’s so beautiful as are the singers and the setting. Gives me hope for the future.
And they’ve done a delightful job of using his particular sound just right in their new arrangements. Avi’s voice was like a primal force; Matt is like warm melty chocolate cream.
My dad passed Christmas Day 2017. When we placed his ashes into the ground, a piper played Amazing Grace. For some reason, it feels like the pipes were all about that one mournful anthem. I really enjoyed what PTX did. They are amazing. Between them and Home Free, I have grown to really love acapella. It tends to capture the glorious and the sad with equal facility.
Yes, so I am watching this a year-and-a-half later than everybody else but I came here to mention the fact that the drone starting the song is reminiscent of bagpipes. And I associate this song very much with first responder funerals and they are usually accompanied by bagpipes. I'm sure having that in the arrangement was not by accident.
I love when Kevin does a solo right after a big dramatic climax of the song. His clear, innocent sounding, voice brings a sweetness to the already amazing song. (No pun intended on this song. LOL) I agree...gorgeous, perfectly done!
I was bawling my eyes out at this one. My father was in the military when I was growing up. He was often deployed either overseas or other places in the States. My mother would usually go with him, so I was practically raised by my maternal grandmother. She passed away my freshman year of college. Amazing Grace was her favorite song and was played at her funeral. It's now 38 years later, but I still can never hear this song now without thinking of her. My wife passed in 2010, my mother passed in 2013 and my father passed in August, leaving me the last surviving member of my immediate family. So the "feels" are hitting me right now. I see you're also reacting to Mr. Grinch. You mentioned how this video was the first time you heard Matt doing a lead. Just wait for the next one!
This IS my all-time favorite PTX performance. Everyone just aces their moments and the harmonies are so stunning and heartfelt that it always makes me emotional. Kirstie blows me away with her stunning vocal…she simply explodes with power and passion, making this one of my favorite solos from her. But while everyone sounds brilliant, it was Mitch’s solo in this song that made me a HUGE fan of his, for life! I LOVE his lower tone in this solo; he turns on the power and just slays with passion and full-bodied gusto. I love his use of vibrato as well - full on gospel at its finest. I get goose bumps whenever I hear and see him sing this. What an astounding Heaven-sent voice he has! I’m in awe. 😮
Kirsten was amazing in this, they built the entire crescendo around her high notes. She' so clear, pure and beautiful in her tone like she's not straining or belting,
I've always loved this song and their cover is absolutely beautiful! 💜 They all looked so good but I think Kevin looked really nice. ☺️ And Kirsten's nails were awesome! 💅🏻
In 1772 a slave ship captain was converted into a Christian Abolitionist who wrote this as a poem. Location is the Wayfarer's Chapel in the California Red Woods.
This one's a heart-lifter, isn't it? I can't wait until you get to 'Thank You.' Scott and his partner Mark originally wrote it for each other on Scott's birthday, but the message in it is so powerful they decided to share it with the world as a Pentatonix song. Be warned - you will need your tissues for that one, and lots of them!
I think the word you're looking for is.... FLABBERGASTED. They bring so much to the table it's overflowing. That's it. Listen, enjoy, cry. All at once. Thank you, Barry! YOU DA BOMB, or what ever the kids say these days... thicc?
Thanks B☘️☘️, Very nice! The white outfits were a nice touch. The light reflecting off them and in so many shots the light was outlining their hair and bodies. So, as they have done in the past the visuals complimenting the music/voices. Beautiful! Their solos were great, each one of them. Kevin…. I don’t know how this works as far as the recording goes, but I loved the echo of Kevin’s clapping. It takes you to that space right where they are. That chapel is stunning as well. I love the architecture of it. The supporting beams almost seamless with the surrounding tree branches. I would love to go there and lay down on the floor, look up to the trees and sky and listen to PTX sing this. Only in my dreams, I guess. A visual and auditory treat. ❤😇
I love this version. Sung so beautifully. Filmed at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. I got married there in 1981 and it's a breathtakingly beautiful site.
This is the first time i have heard a vocal group imitate the drone of a lone piper. As the first verse progresses the harmonies build layer upon layer until the famous wall of sound is fully resonating. Then Scott comes in amd the feel changes. That is the amazing thing about both this arrangement and these incredible musicians: the mood changes with each verse, but each is absolute perfection.
They all look gorgeous in white and look like angels! My favorite is Mitch. If you look closely as they are walking in, it looks like he has little wings on his jacket. I didn't notice it myself, but read it in someone else's comment. Very fitting that Angel Mitch should have wings!❤ They sing an amazing version of this song. I LOVE it!!!! Thanks for the great reaction Barry!💖
This song is so appropriate for the Christmas countdown. Isn't this what Christmas is truly about? God's gift of grace to us and being set free from our chains.
@@ItsmeBarry Wow! A fancy new location! Thanks! I love these two songs together. I had never heard them sung together before this PTX video, but I think they are wonderful together! How are you on this autumn🍁🍃🍂 night?
@@i.luv.2.teach.78 I still haven’t heard the other song, this is the only version I’ve heard of it. Yes this is a luxurious location. I’m grand thanks. It’s cold here, we’ve turned on the heating for the first time and I expect it will be on every day from now until mid May. How’s the back getting on?
So glad they picked Chris Tomlin’s arrangement to start with. Powerful lyrics plus beautiful harmonies in a peaceful chapel in nature = very moving video that can reach anyone where they are no matter their background or beliefs.
Brings tears. Two people said that the background in the opening sounded like bagpipes and another explained that that effect is called a drone. I'm learning.
Thank you for this reaction. It is the most beautiful version I have ever heard. I have a question. Have you been approached by a talent scout about doing voice overs for children's movies? You have that it factor. Thank you once again Barry.
That’s very kind of you to say and strangely you’re not the first person to say that since I started my TH-cam channel. I’ve never done any voice acting and I’ve never been approached but it’s something I’d love to look into if I move to the USA. Thanks Kathy. B☘
Not to make a "religious" post, but the night I accepted Christ, your expressions on this and the Hallelujah video is what I experienced in that moment. Watching these videos brings it all back. Thanks.
Love your reactions. Have you reacted to their UNBELIEVABLE BEAUTIFUL original song, "Thank You?" If you haven't, please do. It will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. Thank you!
Barry, my dear. Where have you been all my life??? Gonna look for more recent stuff.omg..I feel every special nuance you feel!! Wow...there might be no better group ever!!!!
This is actually a cover of Chris Tomlin's version of Amazing Grace. That's where the "My Chains are Gone" part comes from. Did you happen to catch Kirstie's homage to Dolly Parton during her lead? She got the riffs and even her accent perfect! Remember they did a collaboration with Dolly Parton on "Jolene" that won them their third Grammy award...
"My Chains are Gone" is a profound addition, once you realize "Amazing Grace" was written by a sailor who had worked many years on slave ships transporting slaves from Africa to America, before having a conversion experience & becoming an abolitionist. (see Wikipedia)
Watching this again for like the 4th time 😂. I love Mitch’s upper range but my personal favorite if that’s possible is when he sings in this range. This song and Mad World are 2 of my favorites because he sings in his lower range. Everyone gets the chance to shine on this absolutely Amazing song.
I’m so glad my Barry Buddy is back! Reach down into your soul...it is empty. Home Free can make you laugh and cry. Then you realize their voices are captivating...yes yes yes!
This was sung at my fathers funeral but I had heard it and loved it many times before. My daughter was in High School at that time in choir and her teacher called on her to sing this song and she burst into tears, unable to do it. After class the teacher asked her why, and she told him her grandfather had just died and this song was sung at his funeral and she was so touched by it that she could not bring herself to sing it!
This performance has replaced Imagine and my very favorite PTX performance. So powerful, so perfectly arranged, and so beautifully performed. It just could not be better.
So enjoyed this reaction - I've been following Home Free for a while and only beginning to catch up with Pentatonix. This is an exceptional version of Amazing Grace (it's so good with the "My chains are gone" section - added by Chris Tomlin for a 2007 film about William Wilberforce called "Amazing Grace"). The final verse with Kirsten seems to reach up to the gates of heaven itself. Especially appreciated your style of listening through twice with this one - thank-you.
It's December 5th. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! 🎄☃❄ I have just one word for this song… BEAUTIFUL! I’ve heard this song thousands of times. This is by far the best version I’ve ever heard. And the video is gorgeous also. Love the attention to detail. They’re dressed in all white, Mitch has what looks like little angel wings on the back of his jacket, the fog rolling in, the setting in an outdoor church. Stunning video! Another great reaction Barry!🎵🎶🎶
"Amazing Grace" was done excellently in San Pedro, CA. The chapel was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and my brother was married there. Beautiful place to showcase this wonderful group Pentatonix
The story behind the hymn "Amazing Grace" Written almost two and a half centuries ago in 1772, the words for the beloved song were borne from the heart, mind and experiences of the Englishman John Newton. Knowing the story of John Newton's life as a slave trader and the journey he went through before writing the hymn will help to understand the depth of his words and his gratefulness for God's truly amazing grace.
Barry, you are my musical soulmate! You feel beautiful music down to your core, as I do. I love your willingness to open up to us your very heart and soul, when it comes to music. I enjoy your interjections when you feel the need to express them. Bless you, Barry, and thank you for sharing your love of music with the world. It’s infectious, really.
This one gives me chills! The purity and power of their voices just grabs your heart. Their harmonies are angelic. I didn't cry but I VERY close. You're right. Mitch's vocal was so full and warm. Love your reaction and review.
One I can listen to over and over.......like all of their work. I really enjoy your reactions.....the accent doesn't hurt🤣. Hope you have a blessed Christmas.
Hi again Barry! I have been Pentaholic for years! I really appreciate your reviews of them. I spent 7 years singing in a 68 person choir as the only Mezzo Soprano. Most of our music was done Acapella so their music sure brings back a lot of memories! I look forward to hearing you do reactions to more Pentatonix music, check out "Mary Did You Know"!
The setting is so gorgeous. I find myself mesmerized by PTX, but then, distracted by the gorgeous vista. Magnificent. Had to watch it several times to take it all in. And I loved each one.
Hi Barry, I love your reaction, yes, yes, yes! this grandma is such a fan of the group, yes I adopted them as my TH-cam grandkids, although they are older than my grandchildren, nevertheless, I can only say, they are a perfect blend, that Mitch gets me every time he sings, no matter how his high register is or his low register, I absolutely love his voice, not taking away from the rest of the group, like I said “ A perfect Blend” this happens to be one if my favorite songs! Happy holidays to you& be safe in your environment!
Barry, I’m so delighted that you chose this for a review. Great choice as it’s just glorious! Keep up the great work, and hope you are feeling better these days.
This is stunning ! Wayfarer's Chapel on CA coast. Gorgeous visuals and voices. I cried so hard. Loved the fringe "wings" on Mitch, and his lower tone, is perfect for the serious message. Stunning. Thank you for reacting. We love your opinions ! Happy Holidays !
My mother just passed away this past August and this was sang by my niece at her funeral. She did amazing. But this song has so much more meaning to me . I feel and see it's beauty. But I can't listen to this song without sobbing but that's ok for now. Their voices are just beautiful and the passion that you can feel from their music is AMAZING!!!
Kevin's voice right at the end has such a child-like purity and innocence. As if I'm not already ugly crying enough, he goes and does that and wrecks me every time.
Such an amazing song, and it makes it so much more special to hear PTX do it. Thank you Barry! Always a pleasure to see you and other reactors become Pentaholics! 😃
Thanks for reviewing this, Barry. Has fast become my favorite PTX song. Growing up in our church, all the musicians were young (I played the organ. Still have it, 1500 swinging Kimball) Anyhow, we came up with an Amazing Grace version to the music of "House of the Rising Sun" I always considered that version exceptional for all these years...Until now. THIS ^^^ This is incredible. (You sing so well. We need you singing for us, Barry)
Hey B ☘️….again….just following directions by you directing me here from a community post?!?!🫡 Starting the video now, I think I know the answer to the question of who looks the best in white but I need to watch to verify. Sharp, sharp, sharp!!!! 😁 Mitch wins runner up with those wings on the back of his suit jacket? Now that is style and he can pull it off. Yes, yes, yes! 🙌🏻 They are SO (sorry shouty) great! The amount of beautiful sound they can make is outstanding! 💕 And Kevin at the end, our KO, that innocent voice is perfect! 🤩 Happy 100 Disney! 💥 Merry Freakin Christmas! 💥 Here if you need talk and jazz! 💥 T ✌🏻 ❤️ and 🫳🏻🫴🏻

I’m very late to the party, but having attended their Christmas concert in 2021 and 2022, hearing them perform this live on stage is no less powerful.
I love this version. Sung so beautifully. Filmed at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. I got married there in 1981 and it's a breathtakingly beautiful site.
Tonight families in Texas are grieving the loss of their children....my heart is breaking....I keep listening to this song...Amazing Grace
Oh mon dieu que c'est beau ! merveilleux ! j'ai des frissons partout ! merci Barry
Yay FINALLY amazing grace woohoo I have been waiting for this one.
This is probably their best to date. Incredible vocals and harmonies. PTX has really picked a good bass singer in Matt
I hope you do their song “Thank You” from their new Christmas Album. It’s amazing.
He hasn't done that one?? He has to do that one.
He did 5 PTX reactions in one day! He needs a rest😀
I agree
They all look gorgeous in white and look like angels! My favorite is Mitch. If you look closely as they are walking in, it looks like he has little wings on his jacket. I didn't notice it myself, but read it in someone else's comment. Very fitting that Angel Mitch should have wings!❤
They sing an amazing version of this song. I LOVE it!!!! Thanks for the great reaction Barry!💖
Beautifully sang by the group.
This may be one of my favourite pentatonix songs ever
This song is so appropriate for the Christmas countdown. Isn't this what Christmas is truly about? God's gift of grace to us and being set free from our chains.
Hi Rosie 🌹 look at our fancy new location.
@@ItsmeBarry
Wow!
@@ItsmeBarry
@ItsmeBarry
The other song is "My chains are gone. I've been set free." Scott starts singing it around 3:43.
@@ItsmeBarry
Edit: 3:49
That is one of my most favorite religious songs and they literally brought me to tears that was amazing
I’m in love with Kirsten…
So glad they picked Chris Tomlin’s arrangement to start with. Powerful lyrics plus beautiful harmonies in a peaceful chapel in nature = very moving video that can reach anyone where they are no matter their background or beliefs.
Barry you face is priceless you feel the song You'll have to sing for this Barry. You have a good Irish voice 🇭🇲💕
El vocalista es impresionante y la muchacha rubia vaya voz , impresionante.Mil besitos para ti desde España 💋💋💋💋

@@ItsmeBarry 👍😊 Best wishes
Not to make a "religious" post, but the night I accepted Christ, your expressions on this and the Hallelujah video is what I experienced in that moment. Watching these videos brings it all back. Thanks.
One of thee best versions of that song I've ever heard as it's my favorite hymnal of all time. Like you said Barry. Amazing!
Love your reactions. Have you reacted to their UNBELIEVABLE BEAUTIFUL original song, "Thank You?" If you haven't, please do. It will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. Thank you!
All I can say, is PERFECTION 🙏🤷♀️🇬🇧❤️🙏
There's also a film "Amazing Grace" about the British abolition movement, with a section on this hymn.
They sing like the angels and all dressed in white! Amazing voices. Thanks blessings It will be like a rapture song.
If you were "moved" by this....YOU know that the HOLY SPIRIT is real and true. May God bless us all.
Hi Barry- I never get tired of this one! Although I love each person’s contribution, I am just 😵 by Mitch in this one with his lower register.
I hear bagpipes!! Anointed.
Did you notice the wings on the back of Mitches jacket??
so him.....love it!
Still my favorite. Get chills every time. Beautiful!
Thank you, B.
Day 5. Merry Christmas. (20 days before Christmas)
Here I am again! XD
Even being utterly serious you make me laugh. What a rare and awesome quality.
Amazing!! It gave me goose bumps!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I cant wait for your Thank You reaction!
Me either!
It's December 5th. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! 🎄☃❄
I have just one word for this song… BEAUTIFUL!
Hi everyone, It's beautiful! marvellous ! wonderful version!
Merry Christmas to all PTX fans😉😍
Beautiful voices and May God bless this band and your channel. PEACE
"Amazing Grace" was done excellently in
San Pedro, CA. The chapel was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and my brother was married there. Beautiful place to showcase this wonderful group Pentatonix
The architect was Lloyd Wright, Frank's son.
The story behind the hymn "Amazing Grace"
Written almost two and a half centuries ago in 1772, the words for the beloved song were borne from the heart, mind and experiences of the Englishman John Newton.
Amazing Grace is another song I cannot listen to without bawling, again it does not matter who sings it I start crying every single time
This one gives me chills!
I love how they all have a "Frontman" part. Most beautiful version I've ever heard... Nollaig Shona Dhuit Barry
Chills every time. This is a snippet of what Heaven must sound like. I can’t get enough of this arrangement .
The Perfection that is Pentatonix!
Great reaction Barry! 😉
This group puts me into another dimension!
They just recently had their 10 year anniversary!
The drone to imitate bag pipes, beautiful
it's like listening to angels
Hi again Barry! I have been Pentaholic for years! I really appreciate your reviews of them. I spent 7 years singing in a 68 person choir as the only Mezzo Soprano. Most of our music was done Acapella so their music sure brings back a lot of memories! I look forward to hearing you do reactions to more Pentatonix music, check out "Mary Did You Know"!
Barry I positively love your animated reviews, especially of Pentatonix! Don't ever change 😍
That is what I absolutely love about PTX, the emotion they bring to their vocals. Amazing.
Goosebumps and tears.
I think it's the drone note (like a bagpipe) then building the chord upon it that gives it the Celtic feeling from the start.
(During Kevin's part, at the end)
Barry: "LISTEN!"
Me: Um... I'm already doing that?
LOL >.
Now I’m teary eyed…..
I could listen to this all day and night I love them. I want say a well deserved job from Kristy. He voice is just beautiful....Judy D
Really: Amazing! The Song, Pentatonix and Barry.
What
@Jeffrey Darwin. I’d say English isn’t her first language and she meant something completely different😃
@@fmcm7715 Sorry, it’s right. I speak only German and Russian.
@@jeffreydarwin2523 Es tut mir leid. Ich spreche englisch sehr schlecht. Ich finde den Song wunderbar, die Gruppe und auch Barry ist richtig klasse.
This is my fav from the album and i think the most beautiful song i have ever heard! Also mitch's vocals are 😍👏
Thanks for reviewing this, Barry.
Hey B ☘️….again….just following directions by you directing me here from a community post?!?!🫡
Starting the video now, I think I know the answer to the question of who looks the best in white but I need to watch to verify. Be back!
How you doing? 🤔
Can you guess who I think looks the best in white?!?! 🤔
Easily, without a doubt, Matt!!!! I mean are you kidding me, a fitted white suit with no shirt?!?! Sharp, sharp, sharp!!!! 😁
Mitch wins runner up with those wings on the back of his suit jacket? Now that is style and he can pull it off. Yes, yes, yes! 🙌🏻
They are SO (sorry shouty) great! The amount of beautiful sound they can make is outstanding! 💕
And Kevin at the end, our KO, that innocent voice is perfect! 🤩
Happy 100 Disney! 💥
Merry Freakin Christmas! 💥
Here if you need talk and jazz! 💥
