Hes married. Has a young child. Still has his mom & sister. Hes lost his brother, step dad, & dad. He still records, acts, tours, & has a Sirius radio show. Lives in California. He'll be 68 in fall/ Oct. of 2024.
Dwight yolkum is very good and he should be in the hall of fame. I don't care what anybody says he is the best. I've always followed him and loved him.
Dwight Yoakum is a Legend; His style of music sparked a whole new generation of fans that didn’t like traditional country music. He may have been rejected by the Country Music Hall of Fame, but his music speaks for itself. My favorite song of his will always be “Guitars, Cadillacs and Hillbilly Music”; Rock On Dwight Yoakum, You Are The Best!!!
I'd like to know why the cover page of this video has a pic of Dwight obviously on his wedding day with his young bride and the cover page says, " she was a man" ? And why nobody is commenting about that in this comment section?
Yeah I thought he decided to be an actor cause I saw him in a couple of movies. He could have come to Austin and met up with Willie. Willie welcomed everyone. Anyone who wanted to escape from Nashville was welcomed to Austin by Willie. And Anyone Willie welcomed to Austin the Texas crowd welcomed with open arms. Texas loves country.
30:12 Just goes to show you how the music industry is owned! Dwight Yoakam was and is still an Amazing Creative Musician the industry couldn't control! Hats off to you Dwight for being true to yourself..at least you weren't owned. Canada 🇨🇦 Much Respect
I was listening to Dwight and the late 80s and have continued to do so and watched every one of his movies. And like Wynona Judd, wish I was going to have somebody find me that boy and that beautiful big hat. But I do like the way he is stuck to his guns and I can only say hands down kudos to this man for remaining to be who he is. Somebody's always looking to sue somebody and unfortunately that's the kind of world you'll find it in. I'm just happy for his marriage and child and happiness now. And already having such a good long life we're only two years different in age. So for future references, Dwight Yoakam if anything were to happen and I pray not with your situation I'm always right here😅 jk. God bless you and your family.! Amazing musician and actor hands down.!!
I was fortunate enough to see him in person also he was amazing for his age and performed the whole time man he rocked the house and it was awesome to see the younger generation dancing away. He is an incredible performer and singer. Loved him still do. I’m a Rhode Islander and grew up listening to my brother play blue grass.
Yes I love his acting! He played a perfect role as a pastor in "Four Christmas's, with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. Also, he portrayed a prison warden in "Logan Lucky", with Channing Tatum. Impecaple actor for sure!
I had no ideas he is six feet tall. He is a very fine musician and actor. And he is now happily married. He hung in there when everything was falling apart. What's not to love about this guy?
Love his acting!!! Did see him live in Corpus Christi years ago!! He was an awesome live performer!!! Exciting to watch!! Every time I go on a road trip I have to hear “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere”!! But I love all his songs!! Many are still on my playlist!!
Dwight Yoakam is an endearing person - his song titled "Fast as you" every so often plays on my old cassette tapes I still and all listen to for the long gone music on them ... I LOVE that song, but especially so for the great passion Dwight performs it with ... THANK YOU for this revealing video presentation of a singer that is truthfully ........ a l l heart 💓
And sick of the inuindo of him being gay. All due to this sick ass world being politically correct. Time for us to take control and put a stop to this bull shit.
Two things about Dwight Yoakum. Remember the time Don Imus got fired from MSNBC for his 'Knappy-Headed-Ho's' comment? Dwight Yoakum was the FIRST person to call him say 'This too shall pass.' Secondly listen to his song 'Reading, Writin', Route 23'. It is the best song he ever did. It tells the story of every Hillbilly that ever escaped.....
Dwight, was and shall always be, one of My very favorite country music stars, reguardless, of what Nashville, or anyone else says, his flavor of music simply resonated with the late 80's and 90's, I simply loved his style. Thank you Dwight, America appriciated your wonderful difference.
Lots of favorite songs: "Nothing's Changed Here Without You", "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose", "Since I Started Drinking Again". Saw him in earliest 2000's I guess because he was with Pete Anderson in a small venue on Martha's Vineyard. They were great. Pete Anderson is a fantastic guitarist! Loved this deep dive, thanks!
Dwight is one of the best performers around and he has always been one of my most favorites! What a live performance he puts on and he is an awesome actor!
Too many great songs of Dwight’s to have a favorite. Anyone should acquaint themselves with his music. I like Dwight’s acting ability, as well, and now understand more about why the movie that caused so much financial failure , had needed more directing/production help to have become a successful project. Such a shame, but I hope he and his family are on their feet again, financially and in creative endeavors. Thank you for covering this multi-talented star🎉🎉🎉
Love Dwight! He brought back the great country music from the 50s! Those we still esteem, Merel Haggard, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams. Dwight brought swagger and elevated a new trendy country sound. Greats like George Straight and Alan Jackson were a new softer sound to country but Dwight brought back that Honky-tonk true American music nation wide, reviving patriotism of true country music. Thank you Dwight for connecting all Americans back to our Scotch-Irish roots and the unique Appalachian sound. God bless. August 11, 2024. God may very soon be calling us all home. Believe in Jesus and read God's love letters, His Word, in the Bible.
Whatever Dwight is up to now I will love him anyway. The Nashville brass is not Gid and more artist than you can imagine have felt the blows from that area. I am 81 years old and have known many who were not made comfortable by Nashville but were deeply regarded across the country by their fans. It is sad that a corporation such as that can make or break an artist. Anyone who goes by way of Nashville I pray for them because in the longvrun they have lost themselves to the all mighty dollar.😢😢😢😢😢
I LOVE DWIGHT YOAKAM. Saw him in Waco, Texas. I had my Dwight hat on! He came back out at the end, walked to the stage near Me, and my sons. I was Speechless! I SHOULD have asked him to sign my hat!!!! 😢 He's my only one. I don't go to see anyone else. He is Exciting! I couldn't keep up with his life! Lol

I saw him at the gorge in Washington state and he was absolutely amazing! The opening act originally was supposed to be somebody different but the person that was opening for him was Pam Tillis, what a fabulous show. If anybody else was out there, shout out to you! I don't remember the exact year but it was around 1990 ish or late 80s.
I have a lot of respect for Dwight. I just want to say thank you so much for going to see Buck as you know he was semi retired. Actually, he was tired from the music industry and you brought him back out that street to Bakersville. You went on tour and I think Buck had a hell of a good time. Matter fact I know he had a hell of a good time, thank you about you being a good actor. You talk to Buck about the movie with Billy Horton buck told you’re going to encourage you. That’s what’s important. You respect Love and learn from your mistakes.
i loved his music i even saw his performance in slingblade great movie saw that movie several times i even do an excellent impression of carl childers i reckon
I saw Dwight play at a small Masonic Temple venue in Portland, OR. He stopped the show to order a loud drunk in the third row near us, to be removed & then threw his guitar on the stage floor & walked off stage until the dude was gone. He was great!🎉
What's with 1980? Dwight Yocum wasn't even around back then. He was probably a teenager or a young adult at that time. His music wasn't radio play until early 90's, I don't think. Could have been late 80's but not 1980. No way! 😊
That’s what I want to know too! What she was a man all about? I love Dwight and have since the late 80’s. I have seen him 10+ times and will see him as many times as I can!
