😢bless Waylon for knowing what Reba needed to hear. I imagine anyone who got to know Waylon Jennings at home and on stage would have loved him dearly. Absolute legend.
I was one of the lucky ones. I started with Waylon in early 70's & never left him. Thru all the phases. Live in Midwest & was able to see him 8 times alone, 2times with Willie & once with Highwaymen. During the times around the Willie era they came out & "visited". It was a magic time. Waylon's music is still magic for country music.
A national treasure , is the only way I know how to describe Waylon Jennings. His style of music and way of life is a true rock star. Thank you Mr. Jennings for all you did for artist of today.
Watching this in Jan 2022 just a few days after Ralph Emery passed away. What a treat to see 2 icons no longer with us. I saw WAYLO at the SURF in April 1995 when he played for the 1st time since the night of the crash. Some people should live forever. These 2 are among them. WAYLON will always be my favorite singer.
My father-in-law (K. D. North) lived across the alley from his house in Littlefield, Texas! They both quit High School in the 10th grade! Saw Waylon's school photo, which looked nothing like I expected! Great performer...!
I saw him with the highwaymen Melb Australia in the middle 90s. Toward the end went down to the front of the stage and stood in awe looking at all that talent in 1 place. Left right after the show and saw the menfolk down near the bus. 18 years later I talked to an elderly couple who had been to the show and stayed behind for 45 minutes waiting for the crowd to disperse. There were 300 of the attendees and what happens is that Willie came out with his guitar and sang to the 300 for 45 minutes.
Back when you can breathe without being arrested in Australia. Sad to look back on what a much better world we once lived in. Things will turn around again.

I can remember going to a drive in movie in 1967 and watched the movie Nashville Rebel and was hooked on Waylon Jennings. Also, a high school friend had that LP and a couple more of Waylon s early LP's. Can't tell you how many times, that I've sung along to his tunes over those many years. Great interview. The Buddy Holly part was emotional to listen to. What a performer that Waylon was. One of the best ever.

Love Waylon. Love him solo, his stories & also his time with the Outlaws. Some of the best songs I ever saw on TV came from Waylon. One I can’t pass by is “Here comes that rainbow again”, by Johnny Cash with a walk-on chorus that just warms the heart by Waylon. Can’t avoid a tear from that perfect Kris Kristofferson song, sung by these good friends.
That autobiography is available here on TH-cam in 3 parts I believe, & Waylon narrates it himself. The sound quality isn't the best, but it's so great to hear him tell all his stories from his incredible life. He was an amazing guy & an incredible talent. RIP Hoss.
I listened to that. Loved Waylon. I worked on a lot of the same stages at the same time. I probably have 25 Waylon guitar picks in collection and I don't ask for things, if it's on the floor after the show laying on the stage it belongs to whomever picks it up.
I was on my way to school the morning it was anounced on the radio that Waylon had passed I was a junior in highschool I remember a week or so before that he was on the Carl P Mayfield radio show and was cutting up joking about being sick it was said that Willie Nelson had been checking up on him and Waylon said you know I never knew a time of Willie ever being sick Waylon said Willie would smoke a pickle if it wasn't so darn soft and hard to light
Waylon was so cool and so handsome witty and smart!! Can tell he still hurts over Buddy dying. Miss ya Waylon ❤️ I use to love Ralph Emery but here he is annoying with the interuptions!
I also loved waylon, willie johnny and chris.i had some of the outlaw albums.i also wanted to look the part so I bought a cowboy riding coat called a duster which is made in australia and made from oilskinn.i ave cowboy boots buckles and westershirts. I used to have collar clips and bolo ties to.
People do a lot of belly aching, especially the country music fans that real music is dead and now much better W.J. and Willie and all the Legends. Cannot argue with them... we are just people who know better, have been gifted with the sense, and the taste to appreciate better music. What we should be doing more is praising that technology makes it just as easy to access the material to hear these people and to see them alive as it is to listen to that new junk. TH-cam has made it possible to relive and to listen to the real good stuff and to simply just ignore that commercial garbage. It is a bit annoying to hear these singers mention the Legends in their songs, like their music can stand up to what they were doing their whole careers - there you go I am complaining too
Waylon was only 6'0" yet he towers over the commentator. I wonder why there was so much focus on Hank Sr's boots. Waylon said he was determined to make them fit.
Just made it through Emery's interview with Merle Haggard. Ir was a struggle because it seemed as if Emery was not listening to Merle who never got to finish a story. Flat rude! As much as I wanted to hear Waylon's interview, after 8 minutes of Emery's constantly cutting him off I hit stop. Gonna try to find another interview with a considerate, respectful host.
I've had two vehicles with a Flyin' W in the back window: 1995 2 Door Chevy Blazer (fullsize-lifted) and a 2004 Ram 1500 Quad. That was from the years 2004-2010 I think. Once I got a Flyin' W on my forearm I felt like that was sufficient 🤠.
I was looking at the comments and read this one and thought to myself, "that's a damn good question"...and it was mine haha. Didn't notice it right away. Thanks for the response btw w/ the Oakleys
I always wondered if Waylon used an image consultant because it seems every decade that he changes his look. Some of it is natural aging but the clothes changed also. I'm sure mine did too.
He simply understood the concept of reinvention and growing artistically. I think the image he had at any given time was a reflection of where he was as an artist.
I can clear this up for you. There is an interview Waylon did for TNN I'm 1999. In that interview he said he coukdnt understand how these musicians have image consultants. I can send a link. I've been a fan for 22 years and I've read almost everything. He didn't need an image consultant. He was very bright and self aware and aware of what was changing.
@Know Music Man Waylon quit cocaine about 18 years before died, somewhat more than "a few." No doubt, though, the 21 years he spent on coke & uppers did plenty of damage, as well as the cigarettes that he only quit (supposedly) after he had by bypass surgery in the late 80's. Everybody has vices though. Why do you want to emphasize his? He was a he'll of a lot more that just a smoking tweaker.

Not sure what you mean.
Read the 3 books about him; his, his eldest son's, and his wife's.
