Big turbo if you have the money. Ko4 if not. While a stage 2 car is quite fun it falls on its face quickly. Ko4 will give a lot more punch mid range but still falls on its face. Big turbo pulls and pulls. I went from stock to stage 1 to stage 2 to ko4 to APR stage 3 gtx. Stage 3 makes the car compared to ko4. Thats with a small big turbo. I think 3071 is the sweet spot for these cars.

Talking turbos, what is the 1-2 turbos you would consider running on a stock motor with full supporting mods (safely) that would be adequate for a built motor later. TPC770, Typhoon, etc. Tuning is obviously key, but you also don't want something totally mismatched for daily driving with so much lag or being totally inefficient. You've been through several turbos in progression of size and lag...so if you'd have just jumped straight to the bigger turbo, what would you do? Consider the ultimate goal of 640-680whp.
Anything 600+ consider larger than a vortex xl. For stock motor, I really enjoy the XL. With my current setup, boost threshold is about the same as my vortex std and with more top end. It’s great for 500+whp range setup. Keep in mind if you are 6speed, the gearing is longer than a dsg car so when a turbo has a later boost threshold (later rpm spool) you really feel that daily driving.

I installed a TPC38 Performance Housing turbo 2 weeks ago. Came off a standard housing Vortex. Quite a bit different so far. Both are a fantastic choice. But the TPC is showing to have significantly more head room.
I don't think its a totally fair comparison. standard vortex vs tpc20 would be better since they're both is20 housings. Tpc38 has more headroom but spools a lot later than the standard vortex.
What manifold were you going to use before the OEM? You mentioned you almost went with another manifold at 1:27. What was the type/ brand of manifold that did it work out? Thank you!

Trackslag felt great on my RX500, too bad yours did look like doodoo not sure why. Vortex standard capable of 500whp+ while the RX500 was not so def a good option
Have you tried a 3" downpipe to see any difference? Maybe 4" is too big for IS20 to build some back pressure. Did it spool up faster in low rpm with the stock downpipe?

All in all, if you are already full bolt on, for the turbo/mpi it’ll run you anywhere from $3500-$4000, tune will be about $700

I have the trackslag catless 4” on with my stock is20 turbo. A little lazy at low rpm but feels good up top. Im curious to see after a turbo swap ;)

performance pack gti will have lsd. the base non pp cars can have wavetrac added on

What made you go with the Vortex Standard instead of the XL? The RX500 is a 38 hybrid. Vortex Std is a 20 hybrid.
I like the idea of earlier spool. XL was also on back order if I’m not mistaken

If it's not local it's definitely not worth it, at least for DD. I could see buying like a 55 gallon drum and using it occasionally for racing.
