Funny, the Core Class Volcanicus (which is roughly Deluxe-size) is designed as an experiment to test in creating a new version of Dinoking from Transformers Victory. We have entered the Legacy United era, so this is a sign.
PotP Volcanicus only suffered because it relied on the jank as hell Combiners Wars style of being a combiner. If they had made Volcanicus a special set like literally all of the other combiners from the Machinama show, then PotP would have been awesome.
Figured that Prime would have issues about the size of the combined form of these guys, all because normal combiners are bigger. It would be funny *if* Shockwave makes the same mistake at the Decepticon side.
I love these Core Class Dinobots, and Snarl is easily my favorite. He clearly has the sword, but you can also remove the back piece for use as a shield. He also has good articulation, so you can get him into all sorts of cool poses. As for Mini Volcanicus, at least he's more stable than the PotP version. The simplified transformation also makes it easier (quicker) to switch between modes.
And I need to get two - one to put an Autobot sticker on the chest, one to paint to resemble the green G2 Snarl. (Also a second Slug to paint green - EE keeps pushing back my order, I hope Sludge and Slug get re-released with Snarl)
That figure is so cool. Cool colors and weapon. The dinobot combiner is complete. Emgo316 always makes me laugh every day and also he always makes my day. I love it.
Personally i've never been on board with combining Dinobots, but i am holding out hope that they'll redeco this into Dinoforce/Dinoking! I'll forgive all its flaws for that.
Honestly, the old Beast Hunters Terrorcons were a much more successful mini-combiner team back in the day, especially considering how much cheaper they were. As far as these guys go, I'm perfectly happy just picking up Swoop and Snarl and have them form a tiny triumvirate with my PoTP Slash.
Yeah, whenever I hear the core-class apologisms, I keep thinking back to them...and wonder what went wrong in between, that we lost that quality and ended up with this over-priced travesty.
@@sapientunderground Don't get me wrong, some of the core class guys are really sweet (like Iguanus, Soundwave and Vertebreaker), but four out of the six core Dinobots are completely compromized for a combined mode that doesn't look or pose any good anyways. BH Abominus wasn't so hot either, but at least all five Terrorcons looked good in both modes, and even if they didn't pose that good, they were also fairly cheap. That and core class figures are almost as expensive as the deluxe guys, at least where I live, so I really only really buy the ones I really, really like.
Yeah, I don't know what abominus you're remembering, but that set was not great and the combine mode was bad in my opinion. I'll take volcanicus over that set any day personally, but as always, to each their own.
@@emgo316 I can respect that, but at least with the Terrorcons you have five very good legion class toys whose combined mode was admittedly a bit of an afterthought, whereas with the core Dinobots you've got four terrible figures and two pretty good ones that form a merged mode that's still kinda meh. To me they're just more bang for your buck, And they'd probably remained as such even if I'd bother to adjust the BH guy's asking prices for inflation. Also, thanks for the reply! I am looking forward to having my first complete set of Dinobots ever, I have the G2 versions of Grimlock, Slag/Slug, and Snarl all in G1 colors but I never owned Sludge or swoop. Speaking of Combiners I got Legacy Motormaster in on Saturday and have been having a blast with him thanks BBTS.
They should have just made tiny dinobots. None of the sacrifices in molding lead to a pleasing figure or good looking combiner. This was not worth the ambition.
I love these clips at the end and all, but seriously will you stop having Optimus not care about anyone but himself. He would literally try to defeat all the decepticons just because they can't "rise" or "legacy" or whatever those mean.
Not MP expectations but when you realize it’s $60 all together… yeah. I keep thinking 20 years ago an Energon combiner was $35 total and even with adjusted inflation an Energon combiner this is not.

Snarl looks the best out of all of them IMMO, he actually looks pretty decent in both modes. He's probably the only one I'll get, as a desk bot.
Unfold snarls and grimlocks combined mode legs. They'll make him taller by an inch n a half and it'll look alot better proportion wise.

Don't think the knees are tight. There's a snug clip/notch that stops the knees from bending too far that kinda thoops.
