Campfire Diaries: A Solo Backpacking Journey & Deep Thoughts

- Come along on my solo backpacking journey as I venture into the depths of the wilderness. While I hike through the forest I share my deep thoughts on the profound nature of decision-making and my personal struggles with it. Upon reaching my destination I assemble my shelter and trek out to find firewood. With twilight descending I start to process the wood before starting a fire and cooking up a well-earned juicy hamburger for dinner. The following day I start my morning with another fire and more cooking as I fuel up to break down camp and make my way back to civilization.

Thank you so much! It’s such a gorgeous area😍
As someone who is dealing with a pretty bad general anxiety disorder, OCD and some depressive disorder and only just recently began getting help. So, I am still in the thick of it. It is a struggle and some days I just want to throw in the towel. But hearing from those like yourself and like Mikhaela who have been through it and overcame it gives me hope that maybe I am not a lost cause after all. Thank God for you both and I can't wait to see more great content from you, guys.
And speaking of content... Have you considered hiking the Appalachian Trail? I know it won't be as challenging as the PCT (a series I am thoroughly enjoying), but it might offer up some good content as well.
You are not a lost cause. This life is hard, and getting help is so important and I am proud of you for doing that. A lot of people struggle to get help because of their ego, and I believe there is no shame in wanting better for yourself. I am so glad you are liking the content and I am sending to much love your way🫶
As far as the Appalachian Trail, I know Nate is interested in completing the triple crown which that is apart of so I think at some point he would like to do that. I am not quite sure on through hiking to that extent like he is since I am just now getting into camping and backpacking.
@@MikhaelaBryden Thank you again!! Sorry if my post didn't make that much sense, I thought I was commenting on Nate's video, lol...embarrassing, but not that your video isn't deserving of a comment. I just goofed and I am so sorry about that.
@@Palpatinesw No worries! I figured you thought you were on Nate’s page🤪
Making the right choice is def a struggle!!
@@MarkoHerrera-c6b I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggles with it. Sometimes I wish someone would just tell me what to do so I don’t have to figure it out myself😂
I'm just saying that burger definitely looks better than everything I eat when I backpack 😂
@@GreenOutdoorsPNW If it wasn’t an overnighter I wouldn’t have brought the weight but it was short enough I didn’t worry too much. But I will say it was way too much weight with the ax and saw for sure for this long of a hike😅
@@MikhaelaBryden Well you definitely ate good! I'm jealous lol
nice
@@newcampp Thank you for watching!
Great place for you to do some deep thinking and decision making! Wonderful video, thank you for sharing with us. How much did your bag weigh with a full size axe and handsaw? If you never want to backpack with someone, let me know. I have some amazing places I love in Washington and Oregon.
Thank you so much for watching! I am so glad you liked the video. & My bag was so heavy! I think it was about 40 pounds? I don’t think I want to trek that far with that much weight again unless I’m in like really good shape😅 It was rough. & That’s so cool you’re in the PNW too! Howdy neighbor!🙋🏻♀️
@@MikhaelaBryden this is Andy from Richland OTF 🙌
@@gentlewarriorjourney4426 Oh my gosh! I didn’t realize! Hey!! 👋🏼 I haven’t seen you in a bit! When’s your next adventure?
Awesome video!!!
A question, why do you cook on the portable gas fire instead of in the fire you made with the logs?
@@vinightshade6026 Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words🫶 & Good question! I am new to backpacking and camping in general and so I wanted to just do something I knew how to do easily and because it was a torrential downpour the days prior to this trip to where there were warnings of landslides, I was concerned I wasn’t going to be able to find dry wood. & Honestly I almost didn’t. I was just about to give up before I got that log I chopped up and I was getting really frustrated. I also was getting frustrated with the sawing and chopping as well and almost gave up on that too🤣
@@MikhaelaBryden oohhhh wow you got really lucky then! I'm glad you could make the fire and get cozy! Thanks for the reply :D
@@vinightshade6026 I’m definitely grateful I was able to get wood for a fire for sure! & Of course! I appreciate you watching☺️
I wana ask something why did u cook in gass if u are making wood fire??😅
@@manwha-recap Hi! I answered this in a previous comment but the area was drenched in a downpour rain for days prior to this trip so I was not confident that I even could find dry wood and I almost didn’t. I’m also new to backpacking and camping and wanted to use what I knew how to for cooking rather than bringing extra stuff to cook over a fire that I didn’t know if I could even get going. Wanted to keep it simple. But the fire was sure nice for keeping warm I’ll tell you that much! Thanks for watching!☺️
your food looks great but too much weight for me to ever want to pack.
Thanks! & Yeah, I get that. I’d say for the majority of people they’re right there with you on that one. But for an overnighter, it’s not really a big deal to me. If it were long distances and multiple days then yeah, no way😂
