Hector Camacho was one of my favorite fighters. Its too bad he got into the drugs and became a hood. However, he did well with his wealth of natural talent.
Love him or hate him, Camacho fought a smart fight. He would’ve been a fool to stand in front of a guy like Boza...a guy with one-punch KO power in both hands. Macho used his superior hand and foot speed to his advantage.
Yeah do just enough for the city jab grab but don't be a fool to stand toe to toe with Boza he fought here like a slow crab but if he hit you solid he could damage and destroy so he did what he had to do
Macho had the footwork to get him in and out of position to win Boza was just a robot that was dangerous I loved his fights they were like hold your breath battles
"Camacho is going to come out aggressive looking to knock Boza Edwards out early." These guys act like they know nothing about Camacho or boxing. I can't believe Leonard agreed with that prediction.
IBF was respectable right away for me. They recognized HOLMES as heavyweight champ; Spinks at 175 lbs.; Hagler at 160; and Pryor at 140...all in its first year of existence (1984). Those things made the IBF legit in my book right away. Now, the WBO was a different story....
@@Odawg96 Sorry for the negativity, I just dont like how the title came out of nowhere, and I also dont rank any of those fighters mentioned in the top 20. Although I do have respect for them
Omar 123 No apologies necessary. The IBF did sort of materialize pretty quickly, but I thought they were fair in their title distributions. The first IBF I saw was the lightweight title between Harry Arroyo and Charlie Choo Choo Brown...won by Arroyo who eventually relinquished it to the Jimmy Paul featured in this video. Like I said, the premiere divisions had IBF titles held by unified (Spinks and Hagler) or lineal champs (Holmes and Donald Curry), and once I saw that, I was like “No problem” because the right people had the belts.
This was typical Camacho after his fight with Rosario. He was going to run and hold. Anybody who ever watched Boza Edwards knows he always came to fight. He was never in a dull fight. Mickey Duff would have been better served to have matched Boza Edwards with Livingston Bramble because of styles. He however got Boza more money fighting Camacho.
Camacho's the greatest southpaws ever. He's the only fighter to knockout Ray Leonard. He rates easily in the top 20 of greatest boxers of all time. Rest in peace Hector( Macho Man) Camacho.
@@boydgreg8468you're fifteen years off Leonard was 39 Camacho was 37 your typical American you exaggerate. Check your facts before you make a statement that is false.
I lost alot of respect for Camacho now that he's adopted the Floyd Mayweather Running style. There should be a new rule that if you run for an entire round, you lose the round for non-aggression, before this running style ruins boxing forever. 😖
Pathetic performance by CAMACHO I MEAN you talk about running. Boza-Edwards totally pushed the fight and when he would land a punch the announcers would never say anything. Floyd Mayweather never moved and ran like that. Hector, throws a punch and holds and then moved away.
Boza Edwards lost the fight and he got dropped also. You want to compare Floyd to Camacho? In those days you had to fight the mandatory challenger. You couldn't cherry pick opponents and you didn't fight MMA fighters a non boxer with boxing rules and beat them and add it in your boxing record.

Terry Norris "Ended his career" YEARS before he came out of retirement for that ONE FIGHT LOLOLOL. He was a SHOT fighter who came out for one fight against a slightly Less shot fighter. Arguello also came out of retirement in 1987 to fight some guy who ko'd him easily. We should find out his name and add it to the list of Greats, and put it right next to Camacho's name.
Wow This Whole HBO telecast had that true 80s nostalgia feeling to it especially the music. I miss the 80s
my buddy used to spar with looked exactly like Boza.....since 1981 Boza is the only Boza in the world it seems
his fights with Chacon are awesome

Yeah, you forget Camacho came from the streets of NY, tho born in PR.✊🏿☀️🌟🛸🧬🔥💯
Hats off to Coachtrout for posting such a clear crisp video of this great fight. It looks like it took place yesterday.Good job!👍

I don't mind a soft punching boxer, but they had better keep me entertained. Camacho put me to sleep watching more than a few of his fights.
After the Rosario fight Camacho became a runner.🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
Just like Ali, Ray Leonard, Mayweather, Jones Jr, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins.
It’s a square circle there is no running lol
@@enriquemontanez8916Ray run against Hagler, that all
Wow, Sugar Ray you just seamlessly slipped that comment about your second Duran fight into the conversation.
Macho time.🌴🌹🌴
Wow look Camacho oufit he was ahead of his time using those flashy trunk in the 80 that they use now in 2021

I’m sorry but the IBF title was not respectable to me in the 80s, it was still a WBA/WBC world even if the new ibf came to play

If some of those early wild, punches Boza threw had connected it could have been a different outcome early on.

Boza vs Bramble..omg that woulda been a BRAWL!!
115 - 113 was closer to the right number.
Maqch put on a clinic casusls dont know what boxing is
